It has been two long months since events on board the IAV Ziggurat. Now it's just called The Fall. Having survived the chaos of Verbena and making it off world alive, Ian Dugan and Tobias Hawke find themselves staring up at the night sky of the planet Ghost, a nearby gas giant, the aptly named Zeus, sat lazily on the horizon. Things had gotten rather messy in the Kalidasa sector of late, and the small planet was now being used to dispose of the various remains. The air stank of death, a scent the pair were all too familiar with now. It shouldn't be long now...

Roughly 300 miles above, the Glory slowly dipped into the planets orbit and began their descent. Captain Becker stood on the bridge, trying to catch a glimpse through the think clouds below. Having spent weeks trying to locate Ian, break the blockade somehow and rescue them, but with no luck. Just as he was about to give up, a coded Cortex message bounced to the ship, with only a set of co-ordinates. He hoped it wasn't a trap, Niska just rubbing it in, but something felt right this time, like maybe this could be for real....

Ian looked at Tobias as he looked toward one of his ghosts.

"Sarene. She was family a long time ago before she died. Came back to visit and hasn't left me yet."

He moved out of the way as first Mike then Sonya and finally Biff exited the Med Bay. Biff with the crate.

"Biff Dump that crate in the Bacta Tank. If its a bomb, the tank should hold it."

It was a tank that had been holding his old Bacta Air System. With the up grades he had gotten for this job, Ian had yet to get rid if it. Now he was happy he didn't.

He looked to Trina.

"Keep me posted Doc. Let us know when that scan is complete."

He left the Mad Bay and mad his way to the bridge, finding a crew. He smiled and cocked his eye brow and watched from the door way.

Requiem for a Hawke
Unconsciously, Hawke stepped aside, allowing the overly panicked man to leave with the crate, despite Hawke having a fairly solid belief that it wouldn't cause them harm at all. Figuring it was best to follow for once, he kept a light foot behind Ian, a giant shadow to his relatively tiny form. Just before he himself left the medbay, Hawke turned to the young doctor.

"Lass... Be careful." He tried for a wry smirk, but it faded away rapidly.

"I got a bad feelin' about this." He nodded down at the man's unconscious form.

"The kinda feelin' that y'listen to when y'don't wanna die. Jus' my two creds..." He nodded again, curtly, and left in a flurry of brown coat tails.

As he veritably crept along behind Ian, minimising his footsteps as much as possible, he paused a few meters from the doorway to the bridge, and lingered outside. He could hear voices within, and of those in the bridge, he didn't know a one of them who liked him much at all - Ian seeming only be so out of some strange necessity, some moral high ground.

Lowering his hat, Hawke backpedalled slowly to the other end of the short hall leading to the bridge, and loitered there, fiddling idly with his empty sleeve, keeping it rolled up to just the right point.

He'd need a replacement for that arm, sooner or later...

Sooner seemed better than later, apparently. Lingering would achieve nothing, nor would tailing Ian, or stepping onto the bridge uninvited. Feeling like making himself useful, Hawke returned below decks, as it were, and intentionally cruised past the medbay to see if the popsicle had risen.

Spying little new, he made his way through the cargo area and saw... Someone... Standing there. He hadn't picked it out before - had Sonya changed clothes?...

No...

He remembered this one - carbon copy of the other, more fire, less history.

Briefly, Hawke paused as he caught sight of her, looking her up and down once over. He didn't much care for this crew, in his honest opinion, but at least most of them were easy on the eyes. The venom they seemed to hold for him was another matter entirely - not like he didn't bring their captain back alive and kicking from that godforsaken hell-hole of a planet or nothing...

"So..." He began.

"This the part where you throw down or just throw insults as I walk on by?"

"Biff Dump that crate in the Bacta Tank. If its a bomb, the tank should hold it."
Biff grunted at his orders charging through the hallway. Towards the cargo bay and the scrap heap that was the old air filtration system. Legs pumping and chest on fire the old adrenaline effect rushed through his body driving him forward like an engines piston. He dumped the crate inside the tank then pushing his body to the limits he took cover inside a groove in the bulkhead. One of those little spots that spacecraft like these have nestled everywhere. He put his hands over his ears and prayed that he was over reacting.

Karyn watched as Ian sailed past heading for the bridge, and Biff wrestled with the crate at the other end of the loading area. Then the big man came out, bristling with electricity. She sidestepped out of his way as he seemed to miss seeing her, but then he backed out and turned his attention to her. She blushed at the sight of his eyes on her. Something there...

"This the part where you throw down or just throw insults as I walk on by?"

She held out her hands, palms out and empty.

"Hey, man. No problems here. I was upset by your comments earlier, and of course by the fact that you are a Wanted Man but it seems on this boat, we are all criminals. Sonya seems to accept you at face value, and as long as we don't have a conflict, I'll give you leave to be yourself."

She started to turn away, thinking of helping Biff with that crate, when she decided she had better fill him in. "Look. I got picked up back when the Alliance gose hit. I'm a fugitive as well now. I fly the Glory, and I can fight as well as most. I don't need to be friends, but if we're heading the same way, let's at least keep it civil. Fair?"
But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free I've got nothing but affection for all those who sailed with me

Requiem for a Hawke
Hawke watched with some minor bemusement as the little soldier boy huffed and puffed, shoving the crate into some godforsaken wreck of a device and sealing it. He chuckled to himself - if Adelei wanted Cole dead, he wouldn't leave the bomb until AFTER someone found him, that's just downright stupid, even for Adelei.

Bringing himself back, he noticed the carbon-copy wasn't so copy, but perhaps still somewhat carbon... Though her slightly squeamish response to his eyeballing certainly didn't go unnoticed. She reeled over her story, and at the end, Hawke left her hanging for a bit, looking her up and down again, though with less attention to her physical form, and more to her state of being.

He approached, slowly, his only arm resting idly in the pocket of the browncoat. Coming into arm's reach, Hawke paused, staring down without a head tilt, as if analysing an opponent before a fight.

He shrugged, quite exaggeratedly.

"Lass, I don't rightly care what beef you got with the Long Arm. Don't much care for what they say, after all..." He exhaled through his nose, very obviously straightening out his brown coat in front of her, as if to say it simply wasn't for show.

"You pair o' twins just seem like the fun type when yer feathers're rustled." He flashed a grin down at her.

"Kinda lass like you?... Yeah..." Withdrawing a hand, Hawke ran rough fingers over even rougher jawline, along scar and stubble alike, staring up into the air as his mind wandered. The sleeve of his other arm shifted, as if a phantom limb crossed his body, one of many pieces missing to his puzzle. "Spry, fightin' fit, easy on the eyes... Yeah..."

Again, he shrugged, but with his hand in the air, palm up, and raised eyebrows as if nothing he said mattered.

"But, then again, like y'said..." Hawke stepped past the fine young woman, turning slightly once he was around her other side. "I'm a Wanted Man, big ol' murderer and pirate an' the like..." He shot a sideways glance out of one open eye, the other squeezed shut like some caricature.

"Startin' to get a fair idea o' why, too... Still not sure'a all the details though..." He grinned, this time somewhat childishly, rubbing his hand along the back of his neck, like a teenager who didn't fully understand what trouble they'd just caused.

"Sonya's got her reasons fer the way she eyeballs me... Not rightly sure why... Then, so d'you, it seems. So, fair's fair..." Hawke turned again, squaring his shoulders to Karyn. He eyed her up and down once again, this time with a full focus on her physique.

"I won't mess with yeh none. Crosseye wants me t'make myself useful, so if y'need anythin', jus' whistle." The one-and-a-half armed man brandished his right hand, fingers loose, palm to the side, down to the fair young woman.

"Tobias Hawke, at yer service."

Biff took cover but realized after a few moments that there was no explosion. The red light on the antenna continued it's steady blinking from the crate.

Shaking his head and thanking his daughter's spirit for protecting him and his crew he stood up and walked back towards the med bay. Seeing Hawke with Karyn he stopped. "Hawke if that thing wasn't an explosive then it may be tracking us. What do you make of it?"

Looking to Karyn he asked,"Have you seen Khei, Karyn? If Tobias can't figure this tech out then she might be able to." Biff was still getting ahold of his breath and said to know one in particular, "Well I'm glad that I'm getting into better shape since my time on Verbena. That would've been harder sweating booze."

Karyn looked at Hawke's hand dubiously, but then accepted it for a brief shake. "Karyn Wychovski, sir. I presume that we might end up fighting side by side at some point. You do look capable enough."

As Biff approaches, she released her hand and stepped back. In response to his query, she nodded toward the bridge. "She's up front with Mike and Sonya. Ian just went up front as well."

As Tobias shook Karyn's hand he saw a vision of decaying bodies aboard a colony planet. They were dead, but it was strange. Some were leaning against walls, some were laying down, some were in cars. Almost as if they were sleeping. He then saw a massive Alliance Warship being blown to pieces above a planet that was surrounded by derelict ships. A lone escape pod then drifted away from the explosion.

Sonya turned to look at who had entered the bridge. Ian leaned on the doorway.

'that's my dad.' she could hear the little Ian saying proudly. The larger Ian was standing much like the picture that the littler kept on his bedside table.

"Mm-Hm." answered Sonya and smiled at him. Not flirtatious this time, just a sincere look of affection for the father of her child.

"you waiting for permission to come on to the bridge?" she joked, "Oh wait, you're the Captain, you can come and do as you please on the bridge any time you want." Now Gulliver returned to flippant and playful. The feelings were gone right? so why this defensive disarming flirtyness. It wasn't really her. She was more direct.

Why did she feel like dodging?

Cole started to twitch as he laid on the medical table. It appeared as if he was having a seizure. On his naked body was a metal bracelet with a red blinking light that was firmly attached to his left wrist.

Ian just smiled at Sonya as she ribbed him.

"Oh, do carry on. I just like to watch ....."

His face turned a bright red.

"... uhhh ..."

He looked for a quick exit and not seeing one continued to dig his own mediphoric grave.

"...Truly not what I meant ..."

He smiled, awkwardly, and fell silent.

Mike was surprised to turn and find half the crew encroaching on the bridge. Med-bay had seemed like the place the be, and were it not for attending to Khei Becker would be there himself. And yet, "suddenly got busy up here." The surprise was shared in his tone and with a raise of his eyebrow, before he turned back to piloting panels over Sonya's shoulder.

Mike listened to the conversations occuring around him, all the while glancing over to Khei to judge her demeanour. Dugan's exchange with Sonya caused him to break a smile, and took his mind to another thought. He looked back to Ian.

"Hey cap. When you've got 20 seconds I could do with bending your ear."

A life Saver he thought.

"Sure Mike. What can I do for you?"

He ambled his way over to his XO, his face almost back to its original color.

"Thanks"

He had whispered low, hoping that only Mike would have heard him.

Sonya smiled. She'd forgotten that she could do that, or rather that she could do that once. Apparently, she could again; bring out the shy boy. More so that vulnerable man that she'd fallen fast and hard for what seemed so long ago.

She turned away as she teared up slightly, also eager for Becker's interruption. 'was this the way then?' she'd felt she'd lost her way coming back to Glory. . but no. Glory was the way.

Hadn't it always been the independent beacon against those dark forces of the verse: Pirate and Alliance, criminal and a cruel military, the lost souls... the lost souls. And another star broke through the black. Her yang side showed her a path. Glory.

Glory and a man called Tobias Hawke.

"Sweet Mary." she said aloud. Her twisted gears began to turn. Gulliver turned back to face Becker and Dugan. "Sweet Mary Mother of God." She knew what had to be done, how and who could protect her home.

Becker cleared his throat and cleared his mind of the information on the panel before him. As he turned he was half surprised by Dugan being next to him, he had intended for a more private ear bending. As Ian whispered gratitude, Mike took a few seconds to understand before glancing to Sonya and breaking a smile, accompanied by a syllable of laughter. "No worries."

"Let's step-"
Sonya

"Sweet Mary. Sweet Mary Mother of God."
Mike looked on at Sonya's outburst, waiting for a response before prodding it gently in hopes of finding life. "I think Sonya has a more pressing talking point..." The way he trailed off urged Sonya to elaborate on what was running through her head.

'what? did I burst that out loud?'

"No. No." she shook her head no.

"Just thinking about something else." A diversion, quick.
Sonya Gulliver leered at Ian Dugan. yep. that'll work.

"Just thinking about some... thing I need to do.... later."

'glory, glorious glory,
this train is bound for glory,
for I have made him for my glory.'

Sonya sat back in the first chair and tried to find a screen of some sort that needed a look.

Ian was ready to move further away before Sonya's words and Mike stepping up just before he would. He smiled at his friend. The man had come a long way

From Mike

"I think Sonya has a more pressing talking point..."

From Sonya

"No. No."

Ian saw her shake her head no.

From Sonya

"Just thinking about something else."

She leered at him,. but there was something missing. The facial expression was there, but the eyes were blank. Like she was thinking of something else entirily.

From Sonya

"Just thinking about some... thing I need to do.... later."

"I see."

He had said the words, but he really didn't

"Shiny," was shared by Mike, with a lack of conviction behind it. A look to Dugan came with raised eyebrow before he held out a hand ushering to move toward their own business. In the hallway, out of earshot was good enough. As long as others weren't hearing what Becker didn't think they needed to worry about yet. Mike kept his voice low.

"It's the Niska deal. I just wanted everything straight. We all know Niska is not a man to cross, and short of a tracking system pinning that crate to our location we also told him we had it.". Mike paused to give thought to how that move looked with hindsight. "And now we've opened it and don't intend giving the contents back. I'm not saying it's the wrong call, I woulda done the same ten times over, but we gotta be ready for the backlash that's comin' our way." Becker ran a hand over his forehead.

"And I'm short on strategy."

Biff nodded and headed off to the bridge. Seeing Khei staring out the window he approached and gently asked, "Khei has anyone told you about who was in the crate Niska delivered?" He wanted to wait longer before dropping the bomb on her but the mystery device could be a threat. "It was Cole....Alive Khei. We don't know what they did to him but he's alive. He's in the medical bay now, but there is an object in the crate that we don't know what it's purpose is. It's in the old Bacta tank in the cargo bay." He shrugged his shoulders. " Thought it was a bomb I couldn't take the risk. Anyway, if you could take a look at it to suss out it's purpose I'm not a slouch with electronics but I'm no you."

Medical Bay

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Cole awoke....sort of. The shock of coming out of the stasis exploded him back into the realm of stimuli. His back arched into a seemingly impossible bridge and then he fell back to the gurney foaming and violently seizing.

(OOC: LV how did you read my mind!?)
