It has been two long months since events on board the IAV Ziggurat. Now it's just called The Fall. Having survived the chaos of Verbena and making it off world alive, Ian Dugan and Tobias Hawke find themselves staring up at the night sky of the planet Ghost, a nearby gas giant, the aptly named Zeus, sat lazily on the horizon. Things had gotten rather messy in the Kalidasa sector of late, and the small planet was now being used to dispose of the various remains. The air stank of death, a scent the pair were all too familiar with now. It shouldn't be long now... Roughly 300 miles above, the Glory slowly dipped into the planets orbit and began their descent. Captain Becker stood on the bridge, trying to catch a glimpse through the think clouds below. Having spent weeks trying to locate Ian, break the blockade somehow and rescue them, but with no luck. Just as he was about to give up, a coded Cortex message bounced to the ship, with only a set of co-ordinates. He hoped it wasn't a trap, Niska just rubbing it in, but something felt right this time, like maybe this could be for real.... |

The stand down came from Mike which made Trina smile. She would have to give him a hard time about "playing captain" when he'd been so vocal about no longer being the captain. However, the request for her to scan something where the shuttle hand docked raised new concerns. Just in case, she grabbed her medical bag. She paused only to key up the com as she unlocked the med bay doors. "I'm on my way." It was a hurried trip to the shuttle dock, but she grew a little confused at the sight of everyone standing and staring at a silver looking crate. It took all of two seconds for her to recognize it. Her eyes went wide, lips parting as if to say something. Then she moved a little faster, almost running to the crate, searching for the small screen she expected and did find. The fact that it was active made her swear softly and look up at first Mike and then Ian. "How did the shuttle get here? Where did it come from?" Simply opening the crate up was a bad idea. If her worst fears were true and a person was inside, the sudden change would do serious damage, if they survived. Knowing where it had come from might do very little to help, but she asked anyway. |

Niska! I can't stand that man. I have worked for men and conglomerate's even worse then him but that doesn't mean I have to like HIM. Biff's eyes narrowed as he inspected the crate. Trina suddenly burst into view and wide eyed Biff held his breath. He waited for the explosion and then sighed relief when it didn't happen. He began recognizing what the box could be and didn't like it. The slave trade and traffic was an ugly business and he really didn't want anything to do with it. |

Once Trina entered Ian felt a concern grow in the pit of his stomach. It deepened the more Trina reacted.
"I believe Niska sent it. Or, at least had it sent." He paused "I'm not gonna like what you're gonna tell me about it. Am I?" He already knew he would not. He sat back down in the pilots seat. |

The instant Trina's demeanour changed was noticeable, and it had a direct correlation with that box. That's all it remained to Becker; A box, 6 sides, lid on top, stuff in the middle. Trina was taken by it though. Mike investigated to features of other to see if it was just his education leaving him behind the curve. There was some consensus and so attention fell back to the doctor. "What are we missing here?" |

"Possible slave trafficking. This is just what we need."Biff mumbled to himself. He would look to Ian to gauge what would come next but if it went a way he didn't like Greenlief was as good as anywhere to start anew. |

Ian rolled his eyes and shook his head "Of all the..." He raised the "sky-ward", in suplication. "Trina, open the box when it's safe ta do so. If this is Niska's cargo, then the Gilgamesh might just have to go the way of the Do-Do. I'll get another IDent ready for the ship, just in case." He stood up and moved out of the Shuttle. "We dont do Slaves. Never have and never will. Anybod got a problem with that, Greenleaf is you Port-o-Call." He moved to the Bridge access in the Observation Deck, spun the handle and when it oppend, slid down the ladder, landing near Sonya. "If this is Niska's cargo, it looks to be a person." Sonya was there when the Slavers had attacked and tried to take the crew. It was the first time they had all died. But Ian knew that she would remember. "That is one thing I will refuse to do." |

Biff had picked up on what the container was and Trina was almost a little relieved that she hadn't been the one to say it aloud. The idea of opening the crate had hung in the back of her mind, but she'd given up the idea with Niska being involved. Ian's orders surprised her, but the respect she had for him swelled a little. Finally... the right ship... She watched Ian leave and then looked to Mike and Biff. "Is there a way to move the crate to medical? I think it would be best to have medical supplies close at hand..." There really wasn't much need to go into the possibilities of the person inside not surviving the awakening. "Just in case. Right now, whoever is inside is stable, but bringing someone out of this can cause some serious shock." |

"If this is Niska's cargo, it looks to be a person." said Ian as he appearedon the bridge right next to where Sonya was hanging from her arms. She gripped a steel edge of a beam with her fingertips, a few pull-ups, a few leg lifts to tighten up her gut. "That is one thing I will refuse to do." Sonya hadn't really thought of it as a slaving thing. "Cargo? sound expensive way to send someone. Must be important." Sonya's body moved just a little, swayed in a swing toward Ian; she gave him the devour you eye-look, just a hint that her legs were about to spread and wrap around him; and then she rocked back and dropped to her feet. She'd been thinking about this. Or more so, the little left Yang had been debating it inside her head with the little right Yan. "Maybe get Khei on anything up with Corso and Niska on Regina." The screen in front of Sonya showed where the shuttle had come from. The flight plan had been full auto. "Someone sent it to us. Flint Corso sounds like, it's him Niska thought he was dealing with." Sonya played back Niska's message, "Flint Corso. You failed me for the last time. You did not deliver my cargo. This is not so solid. I will track your ship and have my way with you. I will make you and your crew feel such pain that you wish to be dead. I am coming for you." A review of the shuttle records indicate that the shuttle was on auto-return and had originated from a skyplex near the mining planet of Regina. "That's his skyplex right?" Sonya didn't wait for an answer. She played Ian's reply. "Mr. Niska. This is Captain Grissom of the Gilgamich. We received the shuttle that Flint Coroso stole from us on Auto-Return. There is a crate aboard and nothing else.. We have done business with each other in the past. Our reputation is solid. I will deliver the package to your representitve on Greenleaf in one weeks time. Will that suffice? I dont want war between us. That is the best I can do. Gilgamich, out!" Sonya strolled over to Karyn. "We can do a hardburn and get to Greenleaf.... ", her finger traced a different path on the screen, one that might get them undue Alliance attention, obvious to Karyn. "... in four days. Thaw out the box on the way, then decide what to do?" She leaned back against Karyn's chair. Sonya was full on dark manipulative dangergirl now. A far mark from the hard to put a thought together after life's traumas of previous years. But the last 60 days had made her hard. Not just in body. Sonya Gulliver had been brought back from the dead. Everything pushed, jolted, prodded and recalibrated. She was at her best. "ruttin' niska. we got something he wants. but we made no deal; there is no reputation to save. I say we see what we got." "Then make adel pay." She didn't mean for the cargo. Gulliver meant for every dark damned thing the piece of gose man had done to hundreds if not thousands. "Sort of us that dropped Ziggurat. Just a start really isn't it. Maybe we need to keep on cleaning up the trash in this rutting verse." |

Karyn's cheek turned a light shade of red as Sonya and Ian did their body bumping. It wasn't unusual for her to see that interaction, but because of the close proximity of the bridge, it just touched off a subconscious reaction. She kept her eyes averted until Sonya bumped into the back of her chair.
"Sure. I... I'll get right on that. Yes, I've heard of Niska before. There have been alerts posted on him and his activities, but they always seemed to go astray before apprehension. " She shrugged. "Figured he had someone in his pocket. Someone quite high in Alliance Parliament. Just be sure that whatever you do, it's slicker than his deals. " |

Bridge Ian smiled at Sonya's antics and listened to her speak and to Karyn's answer "It could be that this person was tryin to avoid the Alliance. I've heard of stranger things." He thumbed the "All-Call'
"I'll be in my cabin. Keep me posted." Onn the way back to the ladder he stopped by Sonya and stage whispered loud enough for Karyn to here, any anyone else near by. "Not in front of the kids. It would scar them for life." He winked and squeezed her hand before climbing the ladder and walking out of the Obs Deck to the room. He closed the door. "Ian, what have you got them into now." |

Sonya stared blankly after Dugan had left. She moved slowly to the second chair. "So, basically we don't know what we're going to do." Gulliver cocked her head to Karyn. "Or why." She stared off into the black. But she knew. More lunacy on Glory was no future. There were people on Greenleaf, family. Depended on her. Getting security through Glory had been a fool's errand. Niska. One name that did not mean a secure future. |

Karyn nodded to Sonya, but remained quiet. She pressed the burn alarm and counted to herself five seconds before slapping the big red button that turned the thrusters into dark red embers. The shock wave enveloped the ship as it kicked into the hyper speed that would cut their travel time in half. Once they were stabilized back on course and the engines indicators faded back into green, she leaned back. "Greenleaf would be a good stop off. You and Ian go see your child. I'm going to do some investigating on my own. Maybe there's something I can do to sidestep Niska. " |

Mike turned away and held one hand on his face before releasing a, "go se." There were many ramifications that came with discovering what resided in the crate. First of, Glory did not and never had been shared a tolerance for Slavery. Becker recalled their toppling of a slaver ring, the information from which had served him well personally. One of the other pressing issues was there problems that were set to stir with Niska. Someone with whom Glory had managed to keep a fair working relationship, with the understanding of what would happen were they to ever cross him. With thumb and forefinger, Mike was able to rub each of his temples before releasing a sigh. As he turned back he picked up on Trina's request. "I'll grab a loading grid and move it through the cargo elevator." Mike wasn't quite behind that action yet though, still holding many a thought and sighing at the sight of a slave crate. A look to Trina perked him up, and with a final sigh he nodded and made his way to the cargo bay. With the help of the equipment they had, Mike could have the crate moved to med-bay within a matter of minutes. |

Upset with the prospect of this new development Biff stood stoically by. He hoped for the best but didn't really know Ian yet enough to be sure. Becker had been captain for the bulk of his stay and he had a fair idea that Becker wouldn't go along with this himself and if he did have an inkling then the good doctor would squash that with some harsh pillow talk. The thought made him smile. Biff had had to adapt to changing situations before and this would be the same process. Greenleaf was about as good as any place to start over. That's what life is. An inevitable cycle of beginning again. That thought made him want to meditate but Becker came in looking to move the box. "I'll help you move it. What'll you need." Looking over Beckers face for clues he added, " Mike, what do you think about all of this?" |

"I think we're humped." Becker slumped onto the device he had retrieved for moving cargo. His forearms rested as on a horizontal bar as he released what was becoming a trademark sigh. Eyes were set on the crate, and everything it represented. Easy solutions were present, but none of them acceptable, not even thinkable. "But," Mike straightened up again. "We've walked out of worse. We'll work up some magic to knock Niska off our backs." Hopefully. "First things first. There's someone stuck in the smallest cabin on board." Moving toward the crate and slipping the device underneath, Becker then tapped the crate on it's top to indicate said cabin. "And they need an upgrade." The device was activated, and Mike began tugging on a handle to manoeuvre the crate. A look was thrown back to Biff as the object slowly began gliding across the floor. "Lend a hand." |

"I was hoping you'd say something like that. This all is bad karma but it can be turned around." Becker activated the cargo sled and began to pull. "No problem." Biff put both hands on the crate and spiritually shivered. It was cool to the touch. He began to push as they made their way to the cargo elevator. |

((OOC)Using my Captainy Powers and moving ahead in time a bit.) Ian stood next to the crate and followed the procedures that Trina had indicated. "If this goes South, I want it to be on me and none on you." He had spoken to all those asembled. He knew that Trina would be standing by with whatever medical gizmo that would be needed. She was a wizard at saving lives. He trusted that more and more with each passing day. He activated the last command and waited for the lights to indicated it was safe to lift the lid. |

There was a loud humming sound as an orange glow began to flicker from the lid of the crate. Ian had activated the command to awaken the subject out of cryo sleep. The vital signs on the console began to spike as the orange glow subsided. A loud hissing sound bellowed out in the medical room as pressurized air escaped the crate. The console on the lid of the crate turned green, indicating it was clear to open. It was not quite clear who opened the lid as several people had surrounded it and heaved it off due to the anticipation. "Cole..?" The words escaped someones lips. Cole laid naked in the crate in the fetal position. He was cold to the touch and breathing very slowly. He was still unconscious. A long surgical scar was noticeable on his chest to his pelvis. |

The name had slipped from her lips unknowingly and Trina felt as if she might lose her footing even though she was standing completely still. She felt frozen, unable to move as her cheeks began to drain of their color. She was seeing Cole in front of her, apparently alive, but her mind's eye was seeing him on the table in sick bay, then the floor, then with the blood bag attached to his arm, the hole that had been blasted into his stomach... The sound of the life sign indicators brought her back, but only partially. "How..." She moved towards the crate, bringing with her a blanket and her handheld. Sitting down on the edge of the crate, she set aside the handheld long enough to cover Cole and then began looking over his vital signs. The scar on his chest was new, but her guilt wasn't. She'd lost him once. Losing him again wasn't an option. Her eyes, full of questions and emotion, looked first to Mike and then Ian. "I don't understand. I watched him die. He was taken onto the Vanguard. How.... How is he alive and how is it he was in Niska's hands?" There was the subtle shake to her voice that indicated fear, confusion and potential oncoming tears. |

Mike's jaw was doing it's best to reach the floor, devoid of his control. He stared into the crate, speechless, taking in sight that he couldn't deny. His gaze switched to others, judging reactions and listening to words. Becker's jaw would move slightly every so often, as if something was about to be said, but nothing came. Unable to contribute, Mike took steps backward until the backs of his legs hit the secondary lower bed, and he was left sitting on it as he looked on. After baring witness to Cole's passing, only one question could be managed. "Is... Is that really him?" |
