Darkness abides where rocks smash into one another. In reality, the distance between these rollicking juggernauts is immense and the likely hood of collision is merely infrequent. Distance makes objects harder to see over these vast distances, and yet, there is always that slim, coincidental chance that one's eyes and tracking device happens to be aimed in just the right direction at just the right time to catch that curious glint off the barest of reflective surfaces at just the right time to spot it even from such major distances.

Such was the case for Jim-Bob Gellispee, one rather unbeknown asteroid miner, who one day made the discovery of his life, much to his chagrin. Too bad for him, as this event will be that which drives him to destitution and despair as his life crumbles around him.

For our heroes, it could prove to be the opportunity of a lifetime.

It has been two months since their last paying job and the enthusiasm over being well paid and enjoying the life style that that has brought them is wearing off as the number of digits in their respective bank accounts descends into oblivion. No word has come down from their Patron, and the tension is beginning to tell in their interactions with one another.

Erideth leaned over to look at the coin as well, but didn't show any outward source of excitement at the sight of it. She just kept quiet for now, the conversation having moved past her 'good looks' to the guy so far.

A deep drone burbles out of the miner's throat as he continues to roll over onto his side, spilling the last of his bottle on the floor at his feet.

The bartender had retreated back up the stairs leaving the group alone.

A banging sound echoes down the stairs amid a raising chorus of shouts and breaking glass. A loud crash resounds against the door at the head of the stairs, followed by a shotgun blast. Then three quick taps from what could be a small handgun.

The sounds of a scuffle is one thing that Erideth is used to hearing, and before the shotgun blast is heard, she's already slipping her guns out. The guns just solidify her decision, and she shifts to the wall to the side in case someone tries to come in shooting, not wanting to be in direct line of fire as she says,

Well now, there's somethin' to liven up our days. I think we have a party...

"Fabulous. No clues where he found anything and a party getting started." Jo felt a little irritated at not having garnered much in the way of information leading to their quarry and more than a little irritated at the gunfire. Her eyes darted over the others.

"I'm all for taking him with us and getting to know where he found that little piece he showed off. Ideas? Back door? Shut down security? Shoot our way out?"

((Ignore the previously error post. >_>))

Xavier looked at Alex and Erideth, Sounds like we ain't the only ones here... He looked at the door back upstairs and stepped over beside the door, standing right beside it, cracking his neck and shoulders, Shall we wait or head up and party?

Erideth smirked a bit and got herself in a defensible position, more so than just against the wall...just in case someone did burst in...before she pointed out,

We can't be the only ones who heard about this, and someone else's gonna be curious an' want t' take a look as well. We need to come up with somethin'.

The ruckus upstairs quieted down and the only sounds that could be heard are the scraping of chairs being pulled around and stomping of feet moving closer and further away. Soft voices were barely discernible through the closed door, although there is one that seemed more commanding than the others. Listening carefully, it seemed there were three total voices coming through.

Then a rattling at the door indicated someone was about to open the door leading downstairs.

Erideth didn't know what to expect, but wasn't ever one to get caught with her pants down. She took up her defensible position and held her right gun at the ready, watching to see who was coming through.

The room is small, with a bed taking up most of the area, various desk, night stand, closet located along the walls. The stairwell enters partway into the one corner and there is a light switch location on the corner closer to the bed area.

Xavier looked at his companions and then held up a single grenade, waggling in his hand and motioning towards the stair well, Shall we light things up?

A crashing sound echoes down the stairwell and the door is bashed in from above. Flash lights stab downward and two dark silhouettes appear in the backlit doorway.

"He said it was down here. Get somet'n t' smoke 'em out."

Upon hearing the door being bashed down and the lights flashing down into the room near him, the largest man there pulled the pin from his grenade and lobbed it around the corner and up there stairs yelling, DEATH TO SMOOCHIE!!!! in an attempt to confuse everyone with the outburst and hopefully draw attention away from the live explosive landing at the top of the stairs.

Erideth was around the corner and behind the desk from the door, guns ready with one trained at the point where someone would come down. She watched the large man with the grenade toss before the men upstairs could toss something down, probably a good thing to get them on the defensive first.

One man made it down two steps before realizing there was an object coming up to meet him.

"Gorram, GRENADE!"

He duck-rolled the next four steps, landing about four feet from the bottom. The grenade bounced off the top step and clattered beyond the door opening. Several cries echoed down before it exploded. The man at the bottom of the stair looked up at the gun barrel being pointed at him by Erideth. He snorted and pulled his hands out of the tangle of limbs beneath him and slowly raised into a squat.

Erideth smirked from the other side of the barrel, looking down her gun at the man as he extricated himself from his spot on the floor.

Easy now. Keep yer hands where I can see 'em. Might wanna tell us why yer tryin' to come on down here with yer guns out too.

She kept an ear on the stairway though, keeping it in the corner of her eye as she didn't want someone to catch her off guard.

The man raised his hands up even with his shoulders and came up to his knees. "We was jus' bustin' up the joint. Nuttin' personal 'til you's tossed a 'nade up at us. Y'know, Colonel Jackson gonna not be so pleased t' hear ya broke up our party."

The grin on his face was ... well... sinister. He tilted his head slightly sideways as he slowly scanned the room. One seeing the unconscious miner, he slowly shook his head.

"Looks maybe like you done us a deed. Now, if'n you want t' just step out, we can clean this matter up and be on our way, as well. No fault, all 'round."

Xavier looked down at the man trying to get up to a standing position and quickly grabbed the downed man by both shoulders and threw him face first into the wall while still holding the man. He growled, You got ten gorram words as to what in the black ya'll are thinking you're gonna do. If I don't like your answer, I'm going to crush your puny skull like a ripe melon. The large man using brute strength to hold the interloper against the wall firmly, hands acting like vices on each shoulder.

The man grunted as Xavier threw him against the wall, his calves still dragging on the floor. A small handgun dropped out of his back waistband as he did so. There came some rustling of movement from upstairs as well.

"Hey, man. No ned be rough. Got me a job t' do, same you. Just find't hard t' talk w' my legs crampin' up, 'sall. Let me sit, peaceful like. Then I kin give ya' the shiny."

He glanced sideways at the bunk and then toward Erideth, with her gun trained on him.

"Easy 'nuff ya' got my covered. Can't do no harm t' listen."

Xavier quickly turned the man around and punched him right in the nose as he called out over his shoulder to Erideth, How many words was that? he cracked his neck and scowled, I'll give ya ONE more word, iffin' I don't like what ya say... well, prison life showed me a few tricks. He lifted his arm up to strike the man again, but while doing such he hooked his thumb behind his head, towards the stairs for Erideth to see, hoping she'll take a cue.

Erideth kept her guy trained on the man in Xavier's hands, though kept one eye on the door at the same time. She let the big man handle him for now, but still smirked at the question.

Way more 'n ten. I think he needs another quick reminder...

It was a good thing that the stairs and both men were in the same line of sight for her, as the unknown man hadn't moved far away before the big guy jumped him.
