Hunters. . . . For a living, they've killed. Or hunted down and dragged back those branded as being worthy of their talents. Reputations garnered over time, reputations earned. They've been watched. Those that have use of such, have now called upon the very best. Lists compiled have had names selected. Plans have been made. Bargains struck, deals brokered, promises to fulfill. Forces hope this is there time. . . Hope is not a plan. Those that believe they have the leashes of the dogs now put their plans into play. ==== Nearly two months since the Fall of Zuggarat. Sylandra has been making milk runs on a small bulk carrier, Witchbreath; a Hornet Class Fast Transport. She and the contact of those that pay the bills have been setting up the premise that this little ship is just doing business. Rose is the broker. The other hunters gathered per instructions. They'd been give an advance, told to lay low. They'd accepted the job and to back out, well, it was made plain what that would mean. At a large commercial skyplex above Londinium - they arrived with their new forged papers and identity cards. They were to go to the Twister Transport Company and present their papers for 'Witchbreath', a small speedy transport. What they knew of the job was little, except it was big. Once on board would be able to transfer the bulk of their payment to other accounts. Then they'd be 'on ice'. Sealed to their fate. Only the job would remain. Only then the details revealed, the target unveiled. It had all the making of being obviously dangerous, and certainly one in which if they were captured would mean more than a certain death. If not by those they'd be targeting, then by those paying them. ===== Witchbreath was docked at a lower class berth. From the outside she looked like she was long overdue for a refit. Rose, dark haired and vixen-like in her cheap tight leather garments. The whole operation looked like some sort of third class shipping outfit. If they didn't go out of business, then they'd be run out of it by Alliance Inspectors. Sylandra was close by, flight plans to file. By all appearance another milk run rush deliver to some rich family that could afford to ship even the smallest item around the core as though it were across town.

The House The armored guard was still at the top of the stairs. He was in a different position, on his armored knees. There wasn't time to consider the reason, the posture. Slade's shot hit home, not perfect. Such a gun didn't make perfect shots. It didn't have to. The hole in the armored certainly effective, if not deadly. .... At the top of the stair, the armored man is dead. The hole from Slade's shot not bleeding. The armored man's weapon, gone. Blood had been flowing though, from the slight opening around the helmut and the armor. Tied along the back of the armored helmut was a thin wired garrote. The two ends looked like small curved ladies hair clips. The wire was twisted. The armored man's death had been quick. And likely quite a surprise to him. A sound of furniture scraping on a hard wood floor came from the master bedroom.

Retrival Sylandra nodded and slid the yoke forward gently, letting the Witch ride her jets as she started to gain forward momentum, edging toward the compound location. With a few aimed jabs at the vidi-screen controls, Syl brought up the forward looking magnified view and scrolled sideways to aim it at the mansion. She took a moment to glance over at the tracks Rose had on the secondary screen. Going high would be too dangerous. She liked the zig zag through the canyon to the Northeast for an exit. She tapped the map. "That one's promisin'" |

Travis rolled his head from side to side, listening appreciatively as Slade gave them a run down of his weapon choice. If it was going to come to it, perhaps a blade, even as pretty a blade as the one he now held, but not cut it. The elephant rifle, as impressive as it was, didn't appeal to him. None of the weapons in the armory jumped off the walls at him. As such, he chose a simple handgun from the wall of death, pulling the slide back with a satisfying click before scrounging as many clips for it as he could. Small calibre, old design, accurate and effective, it would do nicely. As he finished loading up on ammunition what could only be described as a small explosion shook the house. Turning toward the door, he noticed Slade had disappeared, that explained it alright. TK patted himself down out of habit, pistol and blade in hand, before quickly making his way outside and toward the stairs. The armoured guard now lay at the top of the wooden stairs, Travis nodded to his comrade. "There goes the element of surprise..." he mumbled quietly, eyes rolling toward the ceiling at the sound of movement upstairs. His fellow hunters now each had a kill to their name, it was time to catch up. Weapons raised, Travis bound up the stairs and into the fray. |

The House The door to the master bedroom was locked, should anyone have checked. Intell suggested the doors and walls were solid wood. A good lock then, meant kicking it in would likely result in a leg injury. The doors to the other rooms were open, in fact, the door to the ladies bedroom was wide open. Windows to the front and back. Looking back there is a beautiful gardens spreading out among scattered trees, flowers. A covered hover with what looks to be a gardener stands next to it, looking toward the house as though trying to figure what that sound might have been. Out from a half dozen men, half obviously armed are running to the house, less than a minute away. WITCHBREATH "Yeah. And since we're not the only ones here.... maybe..." Rosilyn's suggestion implying maybe someone else thought so too. Rosilyn checked her watch. "Still time for our crew to be getting business done." |

Silvia sauntered into the lady's bedroom and looked out the window to see the guards approaching, grinning over her shoulder, Solid wood, we could take time to try to shoot our way in, which would waste time and bullets... she threw a knife at the gardener down below in an expert manner, Or one of us could go out on a limb and try to go in through the window. |

Slade recovered from the kick back, and moved again to the armory; he knew that blast could easily have been heard outside of the house. Unwanted company could be coming even at that second. Jackson dropped the spent elephant gun, grabbed a scoped rifle, and dug for ammo as quickly as he could he filled his pockets, loaded the gun, and made his way back out into the entryway. Looking out a window, he saw his guess was right; figures were closing in on his position. Leaving the other two to finish the job, the sniper used the stock of his new gun to smash a hole in the glass. He stuck the barrel through, took aim at the head of one new comer, and fired. |

The House The Gardener watched the Master Bedroom window, or where one would assume the master bedroom window would be. He reacted to Silvia's knife toss with skill, turning as he noticed Sylvia at the ladies bedroom window, just in time. The knife hit at a low angle along his back. Still should have been a hit, but it just seemed to get caught up in his shirt; as though perhaps he had armor of some kind underneath. The Gardener dove into the hover door which faced perpendicular to the house. The Ladies bedroom seemed undisturbed, except for the floor in front of the bed. There lay a blue woman's sequined dress, very expensive blue shoe of the most exclusive brand, two blue laced silk stocking and a pair of panties. Nearby, next to a chair was a man's shirt, shoes, socks and a pair of trousers. The pockets of the man's trousers have very little (if one looks): an official Parliament gold cigarette lighter, hand made cigarettes of the Fantastic brand, and a key. Out front Slade made like a duck shoot at carnival. The approaching men didn't seem prepared for the worst. After three went down, the other three ran in opposite directions. |

Grumbling under her breath she grabbed the cigarettes, lighter and the key, taking a good look at the last one while pocketing the first two. She leaned over the railing of the second floor and looked at Travis, Gardener has body armour or something. He's in the shed... Though I did find this. she flashed the key to the other hunter who wasn't already busy on a killing spree, Multi-Kill! she blurts out when she sees Slade get two of the approaching mercenaries with one bullet, then glancing at Travis for a reply. |

Travis raised an eyebrow at Silvia. "A gardener with body armour?" he asked quietly with a puzzled tone. Something about this didn't feel right, and with the waves of approaching reinforcement the feeling was only getting worse. Not to worry, he was sure that Mr. Jackson would have no trouble in keeping their heads down for a short while. TK took a deep breath and turned his attention to the key that the good Doctor had found. He was never one to believe in luck or chance, nor did fate fit into any of his personal philosophies, but on a day like today he'd take what he could get. He raised a hand a motioned for Silvia to toss it over. He glanced quickly at the nearby master bedroom door, letting his closed fist fall on the hard wood three times before following the knocks with a confident, re-assuring roar. "Mr. Seliator we're under attack, remain calm, the situation is under control!" |

A few second passed before a voice, which sounded from deep within the room, called back, "Mr. Seliator has gone to the vault in the basement." The voice was that of a woman, it sounded strained. Out the back window the hover remained in position twenty meters from the house, though one the Hunters could not see in, the side door was open. The hover faced away. Our front the scattered guards, employees, house people, whoever - had scattered. Far down the drive the bright shine of headlights of a vehicle approaching. The powerful lights irritating even in the light of full day. |

Slade saw the remaining three men run, and wasted no time. He left his weapon by the window, ran back to the armory, and retrieved the elephant gun. He loaded in a fresh shell, then hurried to the back of the house. Once there, he pressed the pad on his side to lock the back door, then braced the stock of the cannon against the back of the stairs and fired at the point where the control panel on the outside should be, if it were designed like the front door. He left the hole and empty rifle, and made his way back to the front with all haste to resume his position and take up the rifle once more. Now, if anyone wanted in, they would either have to get past him, or break a window which would alert the hunters to a rear attack. |

Travis turned back to Silvia with a quizzical look, mouthing the word 'Basement?'. There hadn't been any mention of that on the floor plans. Still, if this was the biggest surprise of the job the Hunter would be happy enough. He slipped the confiscated sidearm under his belt and made a dash for the stairs, vaulting over the nearest bannister and landing halfway down with a heavy thud. TK quickly moved down the remaining steps before stopping at the bottom of the staircase and taking a long, slow look around. "Now if I was a panic room, where would I be...." he mumbled to himself. |

Silvia shrugged at Travis, mouthing a reply, 'No idea.' as she tossed him the key as per his request. She hopped over the banister, rolling once she hit the floor below and looked around for a sign of anything that's been moved recently or that could be moved to hide a door. She looked at TK and pointed towards the Den, Shall we? |

The House. The den was beautiful dark wood, a large desk in the center facing out the back windows, a couple of smaller desk to the far side; the walls were covered in shelves and what seemed to be a lucrative collection of old leather bound books. Behind the stair case, facing the back of the house was a door, a likely and obvious place for any staircase that might lead downstairs; unlocked. The kitchen door was open, a meal in preparation apparently abandoned in mid-slice of vegetables and strips of meat. A wok next to a stove. |

Sylandra stirred in the pilot's seat as she looked out the forward screen. The area that they were considering for an escape lead up a canyon on the far side of the valley, not that far from the mansion's vast acreage. "Let's go take a spin up there and make sure it's nice and empty. Wouldn't want no difficulties coming our way on our exit." She tilted the Witch's nose toward the imposing cliff and gave the thrusters a slight boost. |

Slade didn't see any others advancing by foot toward the house, but then he noticed the headlights. Reinforcements no doubt, and these would be better prepared than their friends. He figured it was a larger vehicle, containing several men. It would take a minute for them to reach the house, then deploy. He hoped it was enough time. The sniper locked the front door, then once again made his way quickly into the armory. This time he picked up the entire box of remaining sixty caliber shells, and hurried to the back of the stairs where he had left the elephant gun. He picked it up, and returned once more to his perch. He loaded the single shot, laid it down by him, and grabbed up his rifle once more. He loaded this too, then aimed at the headlight closest to him and fired. He figured the vehicle was likely armored, but not the light itself. If it shattered from his shot, it might spook the men inside the metal hulk to stay in especially when they realized the difficulty of the shot he'd made. It would keep them from rushing the house straight on, and buy him and his team a few more, precious seconds. He hoped. |

the Ship Witchbreath did not go far before they came across a black painted Firefly. It sat, or hovered just above the ground. It was tucked into a niche of rock, hard if not impossible to see from above. "gose." said Rose. "Maybe I should have opted for the weaponized version instead of the speed version." ===================================== The House Seconds ticked by. Time was running out, they'd used up half their time in the house already; and still not a sighting of the target. ![]() |

Travis took a few steps into the Den, looking around the room with a sharp gaze. Nothing in particular seemed to jump out at him, though an entire bookcase of leather bound volumes could easily disguise such an entrance. No, the armoury was just a room away, surely they would have heard something. He left, shaking his head, and walked back out into the hallway. At the rear of the stairs lay another door, TK slipped the key out from the palm of his hand and into his fingers, pistol gripped tightly in the other hand. Approaching the door, he reached out and pulled at the handle softly, feeling the small tug and lack of resistance, he smiled. He glanced over to Silvia and nodded once, pulling the door open suddenly and taking aim at whatever lay behind it. |

Witchbreath Sylandra kept the ship on a straight path as they slid over the blackened Firefly. Seemingly not noticing the vessel as they made their way up around a bend in the canyon and out of sight of the other. " Jen dao mei! Well, now we know where they are. Do we place ourselves between the 'Fly and the mansion, blocking their retreat? We can't damage their ship; not without exposing ourselves." * just out luck |

The House. Travis found two cooks, dressed the party. One older woman and youngish man. Both were huddled in each other's arms. They had apparently taken refuge in what was clearly a cleaning storage closet. "Please.." begged the older woman. The younger man put his body in front of her. (if questioned, they just work there and know of no hidden rooms) Witchbreath. "Between." answered Rose. "If their getaway ride is still here..." she didn't finish. She checked the time and looked at a map of the estate. |
