Hunters.

. . .

For a living, they've killed. Or hunted down and dragged back those branded as being worthy of their talents. Reputations garnered over time,

reputations earned.

They've been watched.
Those that have use of such, have now called upon the very best.

Lists compiled have had names selected.
Plans have been made.
Bargains struck, deals brokered, promises to fulfill. Forces hope this is there time.

. . Hope is not a plan.

Those that believe they have the leashes of the dogs now put their plans into play.

====

Nearly two months since the Fall of Zuggarat.

Sylandra has been making milk runs on a small bulk carrier, Witchbreath; a Hornet Class Fast Transport. She and the contact of those that pay the bills have been setting up the premise that this little ship is just doing business.

Rose is the broker.

The other hunters gathered per instructions. They'd been give an advance, told to lay low. They'd accepted the job and to back out, well, it was made plain what that would mean. At a large commercial skyplex above Londinium - they arrived with their new forged papers and identity cards.

They were to go to the Twister Transport Company and present their papers for 'Witchbreath', a small speedy transport.

What they knew of the job was little, except it was big. Once on board would be able to transfer the bulk of their payment to other accounts. Then they'd be 'on ice'. Sealed to their fate. Only the job would remain. Only then the details revealed, the target unveiled.

It had all the making of being obviously dangerous, and certainly one in which if they were captured would mean more than a certain death. If not by those they'd be targeting, then by those paying them.

=====

Witchbreath was docked at a lower class berth. From the outside she looked like she was long overdue for a refit.

Rose, dark haired and vixen-like in her cheap tight leather garments. The whole operation looked like some sort of third class shipping outfit. If they didn't go out of business, then they'd be run out of it by Alliance Inspectors.

Sylandra was close by, flight plans to file. By all appearance another milk run rush deliver to some rich family that could afford to ship even the smallest item around the core as though it were across town.

The Payoff

The third woman stood down, sat her weapon aside. "I just work here. Don't know spit about your beef. Don't look right." She shrugged at the man at the desk.

"Fair enough." said Rose. "Who paid you off?"

"Underground, they want the Senator. Alive." Rose sort of nodded.

"I believe you." Then cut the man's throat. Rose stood, taking the man's pistol. She looked over the three women, then to Syl. "Hired hands, live to tell the tale? Or ...."

"Oh, hired hands luv." said the third woman. "jobs a bust, live er and let live.. er no hardness to the feelings eh?"

Sylandra shrugged. "Your call, boss. But if we leave 'em 'live, we'd best have insurance they don't blow our action. Sleepy time?"

She shifted her gun to her right hand and pulled a small cylinder out of her vest pocket. It had a yellow band around the bottom.

Rose nodded, felt the point had been made. Maybe they'd feel like retribution someday, but bloody massacres tended to cause more trouble down the line that killing someone that had done you wrong.

Rose roughed the three women over against one wall, loosely tied them up; then backed away and nodded again to Syl.

Once Rose had thrust up the women, Sylandra walked around and gathered their weapons and communication devices. She took a moment to look over the room before setting the cylinder on the floor at their feet. "I'd suggest you get comfortable. You're gonna be snoozin' for 'bout an hour with this."

She glanced back at Rose before dialing the detonator and standing to walk out behind her. Within a few seconds, the odorless sleep gas filled the room and the guards fell into a deep unconscious state.

As they left the building, Syl dropped the communicators into a trash bin outside and pocketed the guns in her waistband, handing one to Rose. "If we need to drop them, the serial numbers will trace back to this group 'stead of us."

Travis stepped out of the truck once more, eyes slowly sweeping around the exterior of the building as he headed toward the back of the truck and resumed his duties at cargo loader. With a little effort one of the crates was slid out of the back and onto a sturdy, wheeled transport cart, which he then heaved into the house.

It was fancier than he'd imagined, decorations adorning most of the free surfaces, furniture with finishing he'd never even seen before. Money spoke volumes, and in this case it was describing a man with no particular taste. At the top of the stairs hovered an armed security guard, eyes trained carefully on the entrance. TK looked up and offered the fellow a quick nod, before returning his attention to Butch and followed the man toward the armoury.

Slade climbed out of the transport, and put a hand to the small of his back as he stood straighter. He said a few swear words softly under his breath as he did this activity, as though it brought him discomfort. He approached the back of the vehicle, loaded a crate onto another wheeled cart, and hauled it into the house as TK had done. He noticed the armed guard in great detail, but didn't let on that this was true. Instead he gave the armored man a disinterested stare and a half hearted wave as he continued after his partner and Butch.

THE HOUSE.

Butch led them to the armory. A 20 meter by 30 meter length that led to the back of the house. And 10 meter in height. It was a den, a trophy room.

An armory.

Rack of guns, swords, animal heads and skins. Furniture around a brazier, smoking pipes laid out, a bar of expensive liquor.

Butch watched their reaction, not worried. "Just set the crates down and take'em apart. I got someone to mount em coming in later." He watched, not sensing danger, but wanting to make sure nothing was stolen or damaged.

===========

THE PAYOFF

Rose made a harumph in some sort of positive manner regarding Syl's suggestion. She made a nod. "Our crew is in trouble, already inside by now." He wanted to hold us a bit. so whatever is ... "

She walked quickly to a taxi hover. "just a delay then?" Her brain was racing as she gave directions to the auto pilot to get them back to WItchbreath.

Rose looked at Syl. "We'll need to go right away."

Which if Rose was rolling the dice wrong would mean calling them to the immediate attention of dozens of military intercepters.

Silvia carried all the papers with her as she let the men do all the heavy lifting, she wasn't built for strength and she knew it. She gave TK and Slade a glance as she discussed with Butch, Thank you, I'll just need your signature here. she casually stated holding a clipboard towards him in one hand an a pen in the other, clearing her throat to try to make the man not stare at her breasts that she deliberately left too much cleavage showing on and to give her comrades a sign that she was ready to start the party off.

THE HOUSE

Butch moved close to Silvia. Took the clipboard and pen, took in her cleavage. He looked up at her eyes. "I'll just need to have the other crate brought in and all of them..." He looked back as though checking out the clipboard, checked out her breasts more fully.

".. looked over." He breathed in deep to get her scent. Then something tickled the back of his neck. He smelled danger. Butch's body made the slightest of ticks giving this indication.

Slade hefted his crate up off the crate, knocked himself off balance, and stumbled backwards into the wall on which there was a rack of swords. One of them fell from the hooks and landed on the floor. Jackson swore under his breath again, dropped the box he was holding, and picked up the weapon. He turned it so the light played along the length, as though he was checking for damage.

"Jist when I'ah thought mah day couldn't get no worse! Butch! Get over here an' check this thing out, make sure it ain't broken 'er nothin'. Man, mah boss is gonna have my hide."

Sylandra slid into the seat next to Rose and nodded. "So go se against the rotor blades. Do we try to cover both doorways or 'xpect them to work their way out where 'xpected? And if we spot hostiles? Are we guns free? "

A glint in her eyes told her preferences.

The taxi slewed around and made a bead for the port where the Witchbreath sat waiting for them.

"I kept the ship on standby, so's it won't take long to be airbourne. "

Rose watched her Personal Data Assistant tick off the seconds. At least their eyes on the house had given them exact notice on when the others went in. 'if that could be trusted'
No reason it couldn't - they were on schedule.

The taxi stopped by their ship on the docks. Rose waved a credit card and the amount clicked off the meter. She had said nothing, stepped out.

"If we go before the security pulse hits we'll be sitting ducks." It was just a few minutes over the edge of town and to the house. Their original schedule called for them to wait ten more minutes. Then the security scanners and air traffic would be scuttled. That was what the pay off had been for.

But now? It was all a no-fly zone. Getting shot down would be no help at all.

Rose looked at Syl. "So... let's go."

Travis stepped into the armoury, eyes widening at the sight of the various weapons. For the second time in less than six months he was starring at more tech and blades than he'd be able to afford. Working for Hollows certainly came with it's benefits. He moved his crate into the centre of the room and slid it onto the carpeted floor with a soft thud.

Looking up, he spotted his comrade Slade go tumbling backwards through the air and into a wall of carefully placed and cleaned blades, hardly the most inconspicuous move, but it seemed to be doing the job in keeping Butch busy.

This was the moment. TK glanced around quickly, looking for something close to hand that might do the job. The room itself was dotted with various makeshift weapons, as well as plenty of actual ones. His eyes came to rest on an ornate, curved blade. He reached down and gripped it firmly in hand, then turning his attention to their escort.

Travis testingly spun the blade in his hand, getting a quick feel for its weight and balance as he crossed the room toward Butch, the look of malice burning in his eyes.

Silvia took the confusion as her moment, quickly striking Butch in the throat with the edge of the clipboard with one hand and then stabbing the pen through his temple with the other. The doctor knew exactly where to hit the throat to cause minimal vocal response and just how much pressure it takes to wedge a pen into the frontal lobe through the temple. She looked at the guys with a grin, First blood's mine. she quietly told her compatriots while easing Butch down to the ground with blood on her hands.

Butch had been making his own move. A gun he had just slipped from a panel on a table next to he and Sivlia thumped to the floor.

An earpiece fell out of Butch's ear to the carpet next to the gun.

A faint clink, like the sound of something metal, tinkled on a marble floor somewhere out in the hall from which they had entered.

Anyone listening in on the earpiece would hear nothing but soft white noise static.

Sylandra dashed into the Witchbreath as soon as the taxi landed, and stopped briefly at her cabin before gaining the pilot's seat in the bridge. She dropped her "Go Bag" at the side of her seat as she pulled the long sleeve black turtleneck shirt over her head and pulled it down over her body armor. She pulled her long pony tail back and tucked it into the custom hoodie that lay at the back of her neck.

She throttled the ship once and glanced back as Rose settled in beside her. "If we're competin' with another team, there's no tellin' what that will do to our time table. I can slide around the outer perimeter t' avoid alarms until it does down, then bee line in to the pickup. "

Travis grinned a little as he watched Butch fall to the floor, briefly gasping before the final blow was delivered. "About time..." he muttered, strolling towards the mans' corpse, glancing now and then toward the door just in case. An unused pistol and earpiece lay on the ground, at the very least he'd seen it coming, just not fast enough alas. This might prove to be another challenge. "...might want to work on those killer tits of yours." he added with a quick wink to Silvia, with the briefest flashs of a smile before he turned his attention to Slade. "Now we're in." he stated simply, looking down to the small blade in his hand and giving it another flick of the wrist. "And armed. What say we give Mac a visit?"

TK reached down and claimed the earpiece for his own, slipping it over his left ear and fixing it firmly into place. Nothing but static for the time being. Good, no alarm, no worries. Things were going exactly according to plan, at least on this end. Raising an arm, he waved toward the walls of the armoury. "Perhaps we should consider an armament or two first?" he then suggested with a twinkle in his eyes.

THE RESCUERS

Rose sat in the second seat on the bridge. "Do it." she said without emotion. Then she began to filter through other flight plan, hoping to get lucky, find some other ship that might be giving itself away.

She pulled up a couple alternate flight plans that Syl might use. Alternate plans of escape, risking and unlikely; but something to do. While they waited. Which wasn't long. Comms went suddenly dead, just quiet white noise. Scanners and external links showed nothing.

The prearranged EMP type jamming had started. Not per their schedule. But someone else's.

"Low and slow. They'll be looking for us...." Rose looked at her timer. "... not so soon."

Silvia smirked at Travis and stretched her arms over her head to extenuate her tits a bit, You mean I don't have a nice set? the doctor joked while grabbing a bandoleer from the armoury, loading it with any small, sharp object she can get her hands on that would fit in it. She looked at the boys, I'll leave all the big toys for you, I just want these. she waves a hand over herself to show off all the blades she could carry, And maybe this too. she picks up an automatic pistol and cocks it, Ohhh, it slides so well in my hand.

Slade smirked at Silvia.

"Yes, yes. First blood is yours. Next time you can be the distraction, and I'll do the fun stuff."

Jackson looked at the blade in his hands, and let it drop to the carpeted floor with a faint muffled sound. He looked around the room, stopped fixed on one point, and smiled like a kid at Christmas. The Hunter walked to a wall, reached up, and pulled down what looked to be a long shotgun. Metal, black polished barrel, waxed light wooden stock, made for a single shot at a time. The sniper opened a couple of drawers nearby, took out a box of shells, cracked the oiled weapon open smoothly without a sound, and slid a round into the chamber before snapping the thing shut again. He beamed at the others and showed off his find.

"This toy, my friends, is known as an elephant gun. Used a long time ago to kill those huge creatures of the same name, it takes a sixty caliber bullet and can pierce though hide at a great distance. You might wonder if they were effective, so I'll just point out that you don't see elephants anymore and this from it's creation only fired one shot because no one figured it needed to be modified. A fifty caliber bullet does a great job going through a metal door, this is filled with it's older brother on steroids so you can imagine what it can do. I've never seen one of these myself in person, just read about them and saw pictures. This is a real treat for me.

"OK, one point to the Doc for Butch, though now she owes the drink he was going to give me. TK, you wanted the boss-man, so I'll take care of the war machine on the steps. You'll know when I fire, and when that happens it's going to get hot and heavy but I figure it will in a few minutes anyway when someone comes to check why we haven't come back out yet. See you in a few."

Slade held the gun along the side of his body with the barrel pointing down. The reason for this was the guard, if he hadn't moved, would be on the other side of the killer and not see the weapon for a few seconds and that was all the 'reformed' pirate would need.

He walked stiffly like he was sore and entered the main hall again, eyes half closed like before. When he had sight of the armored man, the sniper swiftly pivoted on one foot while lifting the gun smoothly. He hoped he was faster than his opponent, and fired. There was a deafening 'BOOM!' as the windows shook and the hitman was shoved hard back into the wall knocking the wind out of him for a moment. The sound wave shook all the windows in the house, while back in the armory the metal weapons still on the walls rattled.
