Hello, everyone! A bit of a different entirely firefly-unrelated thing. Over the years I've done a number of dramatic writings (mostly plays, some of which have been performed a few times), but I am now breaking into my recently-found passion, animation! And I'm recruiting artists, animators, video editors, voice actors, any skilled hand I can get to take this thing off the ground!

Wayflame is a fantasy rotoscoped animated series, which this growing team will be making a trailer for this summer. The trailer will then be used to shop the show around, possibly even making a crowdfunding campaign. Rotoscoping means that we will be filming real actors first and animating over that video to create the fully-realized world.

Here's the basic story, taken from the concept document (available on the facebook group):
The Tale
Magic, in this world, has long since been considered the domain of myth and
fable, with any modern practitioners laughed at because of the transparentness of
magicʼs use. Magic is limited in its usefulness, and is endothermic, taking heat energy
from the subject of the power. This puts magic strictly into the realms of tricksters and
thieves, who use it like an expanded and easier version of slight-of-hand. The heat
transfer that comes with it, though, has rendered it transparent. A grifter pulling a threecard monte would leave the former queen an ice-cold ace of spades, which is easily
noticeable to the mark picking up the card.
Here we enter the story with Saaya, a young thief and the last magic user in
Quicasan, a trading town in the central part of the western province. When a magician
from unknown lands (some believe an escaped spirit from the desert of the dead)
arises, he turns much of the denizens of the city into his personal army. Saaya, just able
to negate the effects of the mass spell (though cursed with a wooden heart as a
consequence), is sent on a journey across the desert of the dead. On this, he will learn
the depth of his magical abilities, the strength of his friendships, and the determination
to transcend his cursed heart and save the world.

Interested in becoming a part of this team? Want to read the full working script? Join the facebook group! On there are documents regarding job descriptions (including which jobs can be performed through the internet), schedules, more information on the process, and the working script of the first episode (which is NOT what we're filming, but will be the main framework from which we build the trailer).
