I'm dead, thought Becker with only the memory of a bullet heading his way. As he considered the beyond, and why moving on felt like being dragged across a smooth floor, he came to a realisation that if he really wanted to he could move his fingers. Briefly he considered it as something you were just able to do momentarily after death. It went along nicely with still being able to see what his body was seeing, which he expected to diminish soon. As the the urge to attempt to lift his head came, it simply bobbed from side to side with little strength and attention was brought to the warmth underneath his temple. A fist to the side of that head was enough to unconvince Becker of his demise as he let out a sharp groan. His senses came swimming back and his new thought suggested, that was a bad idea.

Not even the worst of it, as he soon found a gun to his head. Far from being helped up he was unceremoniously knocked down again only to set sight on a floor where drops of blood were slowly splashing. He winced on the left side of the face as he gave knowledge to the injury he had sustained. Before he could catch up with his own thoughts, he was subjected to hearing the demands of Alliance personal.

"Ahh!" Was his mangled response to a gun in his cheek, also enough to dissuade him from adding his own comments to the unfolding dilemma.

Requiem for a Hawke
"Griiiiimm...." Tobias chided, cocking his head to one side.

"That sounded an awful lot like a threat." Casually, the man in janitor's overalls indicated to the broom resting in the corner of the ship.

"Don't make me get my broom now... Y'know, I've lived through worse things than withdrawal. I'm not going back for another round with you boys - I think that ship sailed when you tried to kill me oh... What's it been, four or five times in the last few days?; Besides, I heard exactly what you said in my cell." Immediately, Havoc shot Grimm a knowing look, the same, hollow stare with those glinting amber eyes that he had given to the security cameras inside his cell. Somehow, he managed to keep his tone at a perplexing 'matter-of-fact' level the entire time.

"You can make all the promises you like, but we both know how it's gonna go - I go in, you try to reprogram me, you fail, either I escape and take you and your men to the grave, or you kill me. Either way, there's no end in sight that's worth our time or money. The economics of the situation is just bad, man." It was like a business negotiation going down, by Hawke's tone. He even weighed the options in his hands, making a point to the good doctor Grimm that the 'go with Grimm' option bottomed out heavily by touching his hand to the floor.

Stretching his arms out forward with interlocked fingers, Tobias sighed.

"So, y'know, don't even bother making promises you won't keep. I don't suffer liars. But what I do suffer is a businessman." Gunfire and intercoms chimed all over the ship, and the shake of explosions rocked the walls.

"Well now..." He grinned. "They can't just be making a fuss over little ol' me, can they? Seems like they got problems of their own."

"Tell you what, Grimm. I think we can do business here." Shifting suddenly, Tobias sprang up, standing tall and grabbing his broomstick. He turned to grin down at the uppity doctor.

"This is my elevator right now - by right of might. You want passage out of my territory with your life in tact, then we're in business."

Tobias cracked his fingers, and offered his hand to Grimm, to help him up - no point in being impolite now.

"You said I might be a reader. You said I was a pirate." Tobias pushed his cap upward a little with his thumb briefly. "Hell, you said a lot about me..."

"I wanna know all of it - hell, I wanna REMEMBER it, but knowing it second hand will suffice for now - and given the situation out there, we don't really have time for a full on family reunion. So here's the deal."

A wry grin split his features, distorting his rugged, scarred and stubbled face with pearly white teeth.

"You got a cortex device on you?..."

It seemed like a moment of calm had descended upon them, but the tension in the elevator was palpable. Anger, shock, fear, everything. It was all there. Corso spoke. Then he spoke words which turned Remys blood cold. Vials

Remy had only taken his stuff, and left the bag of vials behind, but there were still remnants in his own personal belongings. Only a handful, not a full bag, just whatever could fit. It seemed that his idea to try and make some cash on them had backfired. Had all the chasing, all the running been his fault?

Remy pulled one of the vials out

You meant these? Remy said, showing the vial he had

"Sorry about your friend." she said to Jenna. In Gulliver's mind Jenna was the same woman Silas had known in the previous prison. And she was Jenna. Things were still pretty mixed up in her head, previous and current events.

Then she returned to watch Remy. Sonya stepped forward and held out a hand, hesitated in case he didn't want her to take or have one. "Medical vials." Who had told her that? The doc?

"That's why they think we're terrorists. We stole the ship with the vials by accident."

wait. it wasn't by accident. they didn't steal that ship.

Sonya's eyes turned to Corso, her gun hanging from the strap did as well, even though it was just her elbow resting on the stock of the weapon.

"Lot of built up anger there?"
A darkness swept into Biff's eyes as the big man talked to him. "Silas was a good man. An innocent. If it wasn't for people like me in his life he'd be alive. So yeah I'm a little angry."

Biff waited in the elevator imagining muzac playing while the rough looking crew stood intently waiting to lay waste to the docking bay. With his head down he looked like he was praying. Then he said to Remy, Jenna, and Sonya, "I'm sorry. I said no deaths and then I....... Silas......." He took two deep cleansing breaths and saw Silas in his minds eye. So young... He was smiling that mischievous grin that he got when he knew he had outsmarted the Alliance. Moisture pooled and vanished suppressed just as quickly in the corner of his eye. "Lets get the hell off this ship." He said to himself through his teeth.

A shiver ran up Khei's spine as she eyed the needle, then the Doctor's smile.

I've seen that smile before.. Mom had that smile all the time.. She was a master of that smile. That fake smile... Maybe they did a scan I didn't see.. I really dun' feel like wakin' up in an Alliance jail cell.

Khei put on her own false smile, shaking her head and backing towards the exit, locked or not. Just in case, she also took stock of the room, looking for anything that might serve as a weapon if necessary.

Thanks but I ain't worried 'bout an infection. It was seen to straight away so I'm sure it'll be fine. I've taken up enough of yer time already.

Outside Conference Room

Men were dead and Ian was guilty by association. He was about to say something when his PDA bleeped. He still had it out.

Text from Trina

Ian,
Dom, Anders and myself are locked inside Glory. Mike went out and locked the doors behind him. Heard gun fire.

Trina

"Well kiss my Pi-Gu. Bring folk to a Hospital ship and they go and get shot by the folk supposed ta help."

His mind was in too many places, one was the elevator and the two dead men, one was the message from Trina, one was the look in TK's eye's and the other was the scent of Curry that he had caught a short while ago.

It clicked.

"Curry's back!" he shouted as there was a clink of metal on steel and the Lt. Col walked around the corner.

From Karyn

"Hold up. Security is all over this station. You can't possibly get away. Not without help."

Ian saw her weapon above her head.

"Hold fire. Stand fast, Colonel."

Hawke

Dr. Grimm reluctantly took his hand as he was pulled to a standing position. Tobias suddenly had a vision of two men wearing suits and blue gloves aboard a ship. He could sense intense pain from them as a device expanded in there hand. The pain subsided and his mind flashed to another scene. Tobias saw himself in his brown duster, looking out a wide window of a ship and seeing Verbena up close. He saw flames around him as the ship barreled down to the planet. Then darkness. "Tobias...?" Dr. Grimm nodded. "The withdrawals will get worse. May even kill you if you don't get a dose of the syrum." He pulled out his handheld cortex. "What do you need it for?"

Elevator to the Docking Bay

Corso's eyes widened, seeing the vials. "If I were you. I would destroy them. They are nothing but trouble." He was firm in his tone as he looked at Remy.

Corso then looked over at Jenna. He nodded at her once, instantly feeling pain in his neck and chest from when he saved her. He hoped it was worth it. The lights began to flicker on the elevator as the entire elevator shuddered and powered off. "Gorram it" Corso cursed as he pulled out a flashlight, shining it towards a side panel on the elevator. "Guess we are taking the stairs." He kicked the side of the elevator multiple times before an emergency panel broke free, falling to the depths of the shaft below with a loud clanking noise.

Corso placed the strap of his shotgun on his shoulder, holding the flashlight in his mouth as he looked up and down the shaft through the panel. He then held his arm out and grabbed a ladder as he proceeded up the elevator shaft. "Let's go." He whispered.

Infirmary

Khei found herself backed against a wall as the doctor had ran to the exit to prevent her from leaving. She was able to grab a scalpel off a nearby table and hide it under her sleeve without him knowing. The Doctor forcefully pushed a cart against Khei which pinned her against the wall.

The Doctor then swung the syringe toward her neck in a stabbing motion. Khei reacted quicker however. The scalpel found it's way into his eye and then brain as blood sprayed from his face. Khei released her grip on the scalpel as he then collapsed over a table, knocking over medical equipment as he began to spasm. He then stopped moving as blood pooled from his face. On his belt was a red keycard. Khei saw the exit and it seemed clear, but the locked door in the rear of the room was also an option. The locked door required a keycard.

Infirmary

It had all happened so fast. Too fast. It took a few minutes for the depth of what had just happened to sink in.

She'd had a bad feeling that only became less of a feeling and more rational fear once she'd been pinned. Whatever had been in that syringe, she was now positive she didn't want to be injected with.

Blood. So much blood.. Dear God.. What'd I do?

Reality slowly began to sink in. She'd just killed a man. She'd never actually killed someone before. A sickening warmth welled up in the pit of her stomach causing her to retch.

Fear turned to panic. Hacking was one thing but murder was something else entirely. Murder aboard an Alliance ship at that. Murder.. She was a murderer now.

She buried her face in shaking hands only to see smears of blood upon pulling her hands away again. She ran to a sink and hurriedly washed her hands and face before trying to calm down and figure out the best course of action.

Okay. Calm down.. You could just leave. Backtrack back to Glory. Nobody's seen this yet. Just get away.

She started toward the exit but stopped short.

Wait a sec. If they figure out what happened before I reach the ship they'll know where to catch me.. If I go through th' back, it might buy me s'more time..

With haste, she snatched the keycard and looked for a medical smock to throw on over her clothes. The more she blended the better.

She took a breath, steeling herself for what might lay beyond the locked door and swiped the card.

Khei threw on the medical smock and used the keycard on the door. The light turned green as the door slid open. As soon as she entered the room, the door slid shut behind her. It was a large storage room. The lights were dim and the air was cold, she could see her breath. She saw multiple metal tables lining the room. There were also trays next to each table that contained various surgicial equipment. As Khei was walking through the room she saw a spotlight on two particular tables. One of the tables had a nude man laying flat on his back, he remained still, but breathing. It was the Captain of the Horizon ship. As she turned her head she saw the other table. It was Cole. She felt the reflex to throw up at what she had seen.

Cole laid on the metal table on his back. The top of his skull was sawed open, exposing his brain. His chest was cut open down the middle as various intestines were scattered about the table. His arms and legs were also removed as pieces of muscle and tissue hung from his joints. Only his torso and his head remained. His eyelids were flat, indicating his eyeballs were removed as well. His skin was dark blue and pale.

Not only had she felt the gag reflex but did, in fact retch again. Not that she had much left in her gut aside from the pain left from the act of vomiting.

For a moment she considered trying to wake the prone yet breathing man but she had enough problems as it was. Last thing she needed was a man who might wake up screaming. She wasn't sure why the man was here and not in some medical ward but she was too preoccupied to worry about him or whatever fate he faced, good or bad, at the hands of the Alliance.

She searched for another exit, hoping she wouldn't run into another macabre display.

Requiem for a Hawke
Hawke's eyes went wide, and glared into space for a moment, trying to figure out if what he just saw was a memory or a... Future event?

"Grimm, come on..." He started, half-attending the situation before he suddenly snapped back to reality.

"Still not seeing it from my angle, are ya? Put yourself in my shoes, Grimm. I mean that, really try for just a second." Tobias smiled.

"If I agree to be dosed? You control me. Hit me with a tranq rather than the syrum, down I go, all yours. Bad end." Tobias snapped his fingers suddenly, shaking his head. "I take doses by force, then escape? Eventually, I run out, have to come back, which means either knocking on your doorstep, and/or raiding top secret Alliance bases. Do you REALLY want me darkening your doorstep again?" Tobias snapped his fingers and shook his head again. "Bad end! Hell, even if we worked out a deal, you ferry me serum in exchange for whatever I can provide you in the state I am, it's still just a drug addiction and you'd just be my dealer! - I keep up the serum, someone's collar stays on my neck." He shook his head at Grimm, patting him on the arm firmly with his only hand.

"Surely you see it through my eyes now... Right?" He seemed to pause, genuinely asking of Grimm with a raised brow.

"I'd rather risk death from withdrawal and be free for what little time I may have left, than sign straight back up for more of this endless amnesiac pain and bullshit. I'd rather die standing than live under someone's heel. Any man worth his salt who has a shot at freedom will go for it - Unification War is proof of just that. Besides, I think we both know I'm defining salt's worth."

He sighed, tapping a finger dramatically down onto Grimm's outstretched handheld Cortex.

"Put my files - case files, studies, notes, tests, syrum-whatevers, everything you have related to me - unencrypted if you'd be so kind, onto this device, and I'll take it with me. Then we walk out of this elevator free men. Well, you'll be free. I'll be carving my freedom out of anyone who gets in my way, of course." Hawke smiled, full teeth at Grimm, but his eyes stared on, ringing that same hollow feeling as back in the cell. He seemed to be able to call it on command - or drop his charade just enough to show it...

"Oh-oh, and don't message out, or raise an alarm or anything? Don't track it, don't bug it, don't... Don't be dumb, Grimm." His smile changed to a concerned smirk as he patted Grimm on the arm again, in a man-to-man manner.

"I don't WANT to kill you. We're going to walk out of this elevator alive if you don't be dumb."

"If you do, at any point from now until either you or I are dead, then you know I'll come. And it'll all be over."

Biff took a bundle out of his side ruck pocket and handed it to Jenna. "Jenna, Silas tried to give these to you in his apartment and I grabbed them before we were taken." It was a set of throwing knives and Biff saw her eyeing some in the market place after they first met. "Alright we're destined for more guesswork here and that's something we need to stop. Remy, Jenna I want you two to find the harbormaster's office and find some way in. There should be all ship manifests there which will have cargo and fuel stats. The last thing we want to do is acquire a ship with no fuel or another ship with those gorram vials on it. We need to finally do something without being blind to what's going on. I'll go with Sonya. I don't want to leave her with Big Man alone. No offense."

The lights in the elevator flickered and the power shut down. Corso kicked the door away exposing the elevator shaft maintenance ladder. Biff hung back making sure that all of his men and women made it out of the elevator before him.

Kayrn held her gun with the barrel pointed skyward while lowering it to her waist and then holstering it. She then brought both hands up, shoulder high and palms out to Ian. She shook her head in resignation and took two steps forward, slowly.

"Look. This ship is in lockdown. Do you really believe you can find your way out without running a constant gauntlet of gunfire? Eventually, you end up dead. What good is that to you? I can distract the search. Lead you out; even use the elevators to do so. "

She tilted her head slightly, a sly smile on her face.

Sonya didn't like the idea of splitting up. Why didn't she go to the harbormaster's office? Hoo boy. Because she'd have to fly them. Again. Maybe Corso could? but did anyone really trust him?

"... No offense." said Biff

"None taken." Gulliver answered, even though she hoped he meant Corso more than her. But they were the resurrected. Suspician of their being in cahoots made sense. No, not really. But suspician in general did. Nobody ever went broke being too paranoid. Sonya shook her head, that didn't make sense.

"Good idea." she said as she passed by Biff.

- -
As they moved Sonya passed on words of widsom. Or babbled.
"Office should be on the way to the docks. Going to be secure, not just from busting in, but it's got to be survivable in case of some kind of dock accident. So no shootin' the door off. Might need to trick em unless you can pick a electronic bolt"
She was mostly talking to Remy.
"Chutes and ladders, I climbed this before; then slid down and dropped in on you. Now climb back up."
Remy looked like maybe he was one of those slick rich playboy thieves.
"And disarm whatever ship we take's landlock, or ship lock. And lock up the others."
Remy. . . travelling the verse for adventures, wining women, seducing them, then cleaning out their safe while they slept with contented smiles.

Sonya smiled then her foot slipped and she tried to get her head back into where they were, and where they were going.

"I have three problems. Two of my crew were taken to the Med Bay on this tub and my ship is under attack. So, unless the med bay is down from here I'm really at a loss. I have to get below, fast."

He paused

"Put yer arms down, curry, I mean Lt Col. You look funny."

Another pause.

"You help us and you end up dead. You come with us and you can claim you were under duress once we get outta here. Dung lu Ma?"

Another pause and he got a quizzical expression on his face as he looked at her sidelong.

"Gulliver? Yeah " Karyn lowered her hands as she walked to where the others were. "She was the first of my problems. Broke out of her cell a while ago. Disappeared into the ductworks. No idea where she might be right now, although there is a possibility she might be involved in the other breakout down on block A. "

From her position near the doors, Trina was at a complete loss as to what to do. Part of her wanted to tell Dom to head to the controls and get the ship moving and to safety. The only problem with that was leaving people behind. Dom wouldn't do it and she knew that. No more than he'd have left her behind on Santo.

Quote:

"Listen up! You have one minute to exit the ship unarmed and surrender or I will be painting the floor red with your friend here!"
The voice from outside had her tilting her head to hear better. And then, the realization hit her. Whoever it was shouting was indicating that Mike wasn't dead. Then, ever so faintly, she heard the groan. How she knew it was Mike was beyond her, but she was certain. To the very center of her being.

She was up and at the controls, but she hesitated. Instead of opening the doors, she flipped on the view screen that showed the ramp. The sight that met her eyes made relief rise in her. At least Mike was alive. He was bleeding and on his knees, but he was alive. Her hand, trembling, hovered over the controls, nearest the one that would open the doors to the seven men that were waiting.

Her head turned towards the hall, looking back at Dom. There was an agonizing decision they faced. Open and accept surrender and still possibly end up dead or stay behind the locked doors until either Ian and the others returned or the Alliance broke through. If they waited, they were guaranteed to lose Mike. The agony of the decision, the choices went round and round, showing clearly on her face and in her tear filled eyes.

Admonishing himself for letting Mike act a fool Dom was now left to make the call. The likelihood of getting pinged in the head like Becker if they even tried to surrender had some say in what he was going to do. Dom ran over the facts and possibilities of several scenarios in his head.

Put Trina in a suit and they could likely hide her outside the ship until the Alliance finished their search. Of course Dom would have to surrender himself for that to work and that would leave Trina alone.

If they both surrendered that might make things go the smoothest. Or the deadest.

The thought of leaving never occurred to him, even if it did he would have shot it down before it could hold weight. This was not something they could run away from and they wouldn't.

"Listen up! You have one minute to exit the ship unarmed and surrender or I will be painting the floor red with your friend here!"

"Now ya say that but it seems a minute ago our friend just attempted the exact same thing an' you folk popped him one in the head. I get that bein' a rookie can make you a might nervous..." He smirked to Trina as he turned back to his negotiator roots, a time when he used to run squads like this. Even with lethal force clearly authorized one would think an unarmed man with his hands up posed little grounds to shoot.

"We're all for cooperatin', lets just make sure we have it on both sides." Dom was stalling a bit but knew he couldn't wait too long for Becker's sake and Trina's.

Grimm smiled in an almost sadistic manner towards Tobias. "I can't do that. Besides. You really think we would carry that information around with us? They will never stop coming for you." Grimm suddenly seemed scared as there was a popping sound in his mouth, then a crunch. Grimm fell over and started to seize as foam came out of his mouth. After a few seconds, he laid there. Motionless. Dead.

Khei

Khei heard footsteps entering the other where where the body was. She heard a scream and then the sound of the footsteps running away. There were no exits from the chilled room from what she could see, besides the way she came.

Elevator

Corso looked down briefly as he climbed the ladder. "Our best shot is to go right through the next hatch, blasting everything in sight. Any of you that split, your on your own in a place filled with Cameras." Corso continued to ascend the ladder.
