Jenna was woken out of a deep sleep by the ship moving again. “Oh god not again.” She mumbled as she tried to figure out what was happening. She sat up and quickly realized that she wasn't sure where either Biff or Remy were. It took her a moment to realize that Remy was attempting to help someone get back on the ship and then it took her another moment to realize that she recognized who it was that he was helping. That was the Captain of the ship that she tried to sneak onto back at the station.Hopefully he didn't see her and if he did he didn't remember her. |

Slade walked slowly toward Corso, both hands raised, a carpet bag hanging from one and the other empty. He allowed a mix of worry and relief show on his face. "My name is August Miles, a Shepard, my friend here is Robert, and you my son are a blessing if there ever was one. "You see, Robert's sister is very ill, and not fairing at all well. He wants to see her once more, before it's too late, but she's on another planet, and with the recent crash of that massive ship getting off this world has become impossible. We have no money, however if you could show kindness and allow us a ride on your shuttle, I have no doubt you shall be richly rewarded. If not in this life, than in the next." |

Corso studied the shephard momentarily before holstering his weapon. "I'm sorry shephard. Once I get this thing going, we will leave." Corso wasn't a religious man, but wasn't about to risk eternal damnation by refusing to give a shephard a free lift. "Hop aboard." |

Requiem for a Hawke
|
It was a hell of a sight. The mighty close engines of the ship banked near and the forward-facing cargo bay gaped like the maw of a great beast. From within, two lines flung down, and with all the rays of the sun behind them, two figures dropped down. Pressing on through the crowd, Tobias drew his cannon and cocked the hammer, shoving it in the face of anyone who wouldn't put themselves out of his way. His finger itched on the trigger, but there was a strange hesitance to pull it. It felt wrong - they were only trying to escape the hell he had caused... As the man came to a stop, he spoke to Hawke like an old friend. Immediately, the haggard man recoiled, stopping in his tracks and raising his weapon half-heartedly. "I don't know you!" Hawke called above the growing din of frantic people and the open ship's roaring engines. The crowds swarmed on the two men before him, and Hawke turned on a dime. He squeezed the trigger, but a hollow click rang out, audible perhaps only to his ears. His eyes went wide, a cold fear ran down his spine, and a thought that wasn't entirely his own coursed through his mind: How bad off am I to not feel the weight difference of an unloaded gun?! MY gun! Not good! With a grimace, his wrist flicked, and the massive, brick-like revolver snapped in half. With a growl, he bit the top of the barrel hard, and stuffed his now-free hand into the pocket of his duster, rummaging around for something, desperately. In an instant, he drew something out, jamming it toward his face. In what felt like an old, practiced motion, the autoloader, filled with six bullets, slotted itself roughly into the chamber of the gun, shoving the auto ejector down with a click. As he rammed the auto-loader back into his pocket, Hawke jerked his head with more force than he felt generally comfortable exerting on his neck. The revolver snapped closed, and in one swift flick, he gripped it and drew the hammer back, all in the space of a couple of seconds. As he finally levelled his cannon with the people crowding around the man who seemed dead set on rescuing him, Hawke's eyes boggled. The man's line started to draw tight - the ship banked slowly. "HEY!" He roared at the man, trying to aim while eying the ship's strange flight pattern. "YOUR SHIP AIN'T SUPPOSED TO BE DOIN' THAT! DISCONNECT!" |

Travis took a few tentative steps toward Corso as Slade spoke, closing ground on the man should Slade not convince. No such worries. He turned and offered the 'shepard' a nod, a quick smile flashing across his face before disappearing. Looking back to Corso, he took a breath. "Call me Bob, and thank you kindly sir. May the gods watch over you." he added toward the end. If this fellow was a man of faith, it never hurt to remind him. With that TK was through the hatch and into the shuttle, taking a quick look around. Still, something danced across the back of his neck, a tingle. Just a feeling. A familiarity of some sort, and he couldn't quite shake it. |

The weight of the people holding onto Ian caused the machine that fed the cable line to Ian's harness to snap and twist. Bolts flew from Glory as the machine was uprooted and fell forward. Biff was able to pull Remy back up in time as Ian fell and disappeared into the sea of crowd, the machine plummeting with him. Anders knew ships. He knew something was wrong with the way the pilot had been flying it and had sprinted towards the bridge. He found Karyn bleeding and laying on the control panel. Red lights flashed on the console that indicated a collision course. Instinctively he pulled back on the controls to avoid crashing into a building. The belly of Glory scraped a roof as pieces of debris descended to the ground below. Anders then saw on radar that multiple Alliance ships were approaching. "There is no time! We need to leave. Alliance are ontop of us!" Anders yelled frantically over the ships coms. "I need help up here! I got one down!" He sent full power to the engine and began to ascend upward to the sky, preparing to break atmo. "Biff! Let's get that cargo bay door shut!" He shouted over the intercom as he wiped sweat from his forehead. Shuttle Once TK and Slade were aboard the shuttle, Corso was able to restart it and blasted off into the black. The vibrations of breaking atmo slowly faded away as the Baroness came into view. Edited by loneviking, Apr 30 2013, 01:26 PM.

Travis found himself strapped into a shuttle seat, the ground peeling away below them as they broke atmo and made a path for the Baroness. He relaxed a little and risked a satisfied smile to himself. It was then something occurred to him. Leaning forward, the smile now gone, he peered out and the forward viewscreen and raised his imitation voice a little. "Scuse me sir, not to interfere with yer fine pilotin', but have ya heard much more about the crash?" he asked. Surely the demise of the IAV Ziggurat would be common knowledge by now, but how exactly had the tale been spun? |

Corso seemed a little nervous when answering TK's question, since HE was on the crashing ship. "No. I haven't heard why it happened. Just saw it falling out of the sky like the rest of you." After a few moments the shuttle connected to an airlock on the outer docking ring. A pressurized sound was heard as the shuttle sealed to the docking ring. Corso slowly powered down the engine as the humming noise ceased and the lights began to flicker off. Corso opened the shuttle door and stepped out into the vast docking ring. It was seemingly empty except for a small crowd of people forming around a young kid. <<TK, Slade and Corso enter 'The Baroness'>> Edited by loneviking, May 1 2013, 06:50 AM.

The ship jerked a certain way and Becker knew what kind of a collision to attribute it to. He perked up at the shudder and was reassured by the sight of a secured doctor before him. Raising from the stool, he looked over her and sighed before playing a hand on hers. "I'll be back." I thought we were out of the woods. Mike jogged to the cargo bay and flashed a look of realisation. "No," uttered the XO in a long strung out fashion that echoed a sentiment of say it ain't so. He rushed to the mechanism that had been torn from the ship, then edged toward the ship's exit to look down at the crowd. "He's right," Mike shared in reference to the command to shut the door. "We can't pick one from that crowd. But he should be safe in those numbers. We'll meet up again, we've done it before." He wasn't sure who he was saying it for, and he promptly looked around at those gathered. "Let's get this bird settled." What followed was a brisk approach to the bridge. "Go se," were the first words shared upon his entrance before he came to Karyn's side to investigate. "Who can fly this thing?" He asked to those gathered as he looked over what was left of their current pilot. Becker's mind went to one person. "Sonya?" |

Sonya looked to Mike hoping to get some guidance, but unstrapped as she did so. There was no one piloting the ship, and rushing out of atmo without one was not smart in her flight book. Not even with all the programmed flight plans stored away ready for use. She blinked and focused away cobwebs of sleep. How long had she been sleeping. Sonya had never needed much, even so, it felt like she'd been woken from the middle of its deepest cycle. Gulliver slipped in to the vacant pilot's chair and took the controls. "Where... " she stopped, she'd plot her own course for Glory. As she tapped the screens to get their flight path and looked for a destination that would offer the smallest of course corrections, "Where's Ian?" |

It was as if Anders tagged Mike out when he reached Karyn, and Becker quickly switched his focus to Gulliver who he had now moved two. He rested a hand on each of her shoulders in a bid to draw her focus. "Look, I know you're," he paused, "whatever right now." The XO had seen how off she was, but hadn't had the time to approach his old friend about it. "But Glory was your girl before, you'll slip into her like an old dress." There was little time for other concerns, but Becker did very briefly question his own metaphor. "So let's go."
"We might be able to stay planetside but lets-"
Becker bowed his head, allowing Anders to get the first response in. "We're not leaving him behind," snapped back. A pause gave Mike time to consider if that was truly the case. "The captain's just a citizen down there, and he's smart he'll know how to say safe. We'll pick him up on the other side of this whole mess." Becker was confident with his reasoning, and it showed. It was one of his finer moments in command, at least he hoped it would turn out that way. "Take us anywhere the Alliance aren't coming from. We need to set down and rest." |

As Glory blasted back in zero gravity space, they could see an Armada of ships approaching on the radar. Over a dozen warships and cruisers as well as a fleet of Airtanks. |

Sonya took in the words of Anders with a slow nod while she studied the scanners. Wasn't anything she could do about any of that. Not now. Mike was right, do what they can do now. She'd had plenty of experience in running from Browncoat raiders when she flew cargo in the latter half of the war. But that was one or two at a time. A fleet of Alliance ships. Gulliver didn't think in vectors or angles, speeds of approach or acceleration. She rolled Glory over and slipped into the flight path of a few other ships that were trying to flee the inevitable rounding up of the 'usual suspects', or rather; everyone they could throw a net over. There was a vague memory of a recent power outage in Glory's run from Ziggurat. Best not let that happen now. She let the other fleeing ships take the lead. The Alliance would angle to cut them off, commit themselves, then... WIth a slow turn she'd move Glory in an awkward manner and let her limp along. As soon as she drew any attention she'd power up with a hard turn and a hard burn. It wasn't glamorous or sensational, they'd be looking for that. "Two hunters in the woods come across a grizzly bear. They take off running, one say to the other, 'we'll never make it, we can't outrun a grizzly.' 'Don't got to said the other, only got to out run you.'" She smiled for herself, witty wasn't usually her style. But she was on Glory. And that was good. Sonya looked to where this little maneuver would likely take them. |

Remy looked around, after Tobias shouted about the ship, and saw what he was saying, but before he knew it he was being hoisted back onto the ship, he shouted towards Ian, holding out his hand in a failed attempt to grab onto him. Getting back on the ship, Remy sat down, still in the harness, and put his head in his hands, after everything Ian had done for them, Remy felt like he had let him down. |

Everything happened so fast. Ian had been nose to pistol with Tobias and then the crowd that had swarmed the Spaceport had caught up to their position and grabbed ahold of him. He tried to squirm his way out but was pulled down as his ship lurched in a way that only meant out of control. He looked up and saw the hoist break loose. He ducked and covered as it crashed down on the crowd. It caused the people that had him to let go. He pulled off the harness and dove toward Tobias. "Brother, with all these folk here, we got ta move. You can either trust that I'm a friend or trust that some mystical barrier will protect you from trampling feet and Alliance goons. Either way, we need to disappear and fast." He waited for Tobias to respond as he caught sight of his beloved ship break atmo for parts unknown. |

Becker thought Gulliver to be crazy for a few moments, that was until he could put reason to her words. "Okay Sonya. Let's make it work." There wasn't the complete security in the plan that Mike wanted, but since he couldn't jump in the seat and pilot the ship himself, he deferred to her decision. Mike reached over to enable ship wide comms. "Strap in." He released the button, then after a few seconds thought, held it down once more. "...again" As Gulliver pulled the ship in the trail of the others, Mike saw short opportunity to clear another matter. He fiddled at a computer console, not one for systems, but capable enough to write out a message and direct it to Ian's personal unit. 'KEEP YOUR HEAD LOW AND OUT OF THE ALLIANCE'S HAIR. WE WILL MEET UP AGAIN WHEN THINGS DIE DOWN' It was weird sending what looked like orders to his captain, but for now and and seemingly for longer than he would like, Mike was in command. With that thought in his mind, he fastened himself into a spare chair on the bridge. |
