Glory - Cargo Bay

As Ian walked into the bay he saw that some of the people were up. One came toward him.

Remy

Sir, my name is Remy Rokash, thank you for letting me, and my friends come aboard your ship

"Welcome aboard the Glory, Remy. Some of your friends are mine as well. Sonya used to be my XO and the she's the mother of our son."

He looked around, saw Tristan, Coroso, and Khei on the deck.

"Would be help me move these folk into the Crew's Lounge, there? We'll have to use it as a triage"

He pointed to a room near by and continued pointing at other rooms.

"Engine Room, back there, Bridge up that corridor, Main airlock on this level and the Shuttle deck is above us as is additional stores."

He paused a moment.

"Do you have any medical skills? Our Doc was hit in the skirmish. I believe she was moved to the Med bay with one of your friends."

He was in motion as he spoke and came to Khei.

"You OK? Some trip just for a band-aide, huh."

Slade flashed back a grin, curtsied, and walked the now opened hatch. He looked about, the put the handle of his carpet bag between his teeth, got down on his stomach, and slid forward slowly out the door. There was a stout branch about three feet down and to the left of the opening, and this was his goal. As soon as he could, Jackson grabbed the limb and dropped down holding onto it. He located a lower branch, swung, and looped his legs over. He let got of the one he had, and hung upside down from his new perch. He took a moment to take the bag handle from his mouth.

"Come on out, the weather's fine for a stroll."

The sniper replaced the handle in his teeth, and continued to make his way down. It might perhaps look to TK like the ex-pirate knew what he was doing, but the truth of the matter was Ol' Devil Tongue planned on using some of his new creds on a hot tub, and soaking for a day or three until his muscles forgave him for this little stunt.

Khei looked up when she heard Ian's voice. Her red, puffy eyes and sullen expression would be enough to tell anyone that though intact on the outside, the day's events were haunting her inside.

She shook her head, swallowing back another wave of tears as she turned her head toward Tristan, bobbing her head in his direction.

I.. I saved him... They did nothin'.. They were gonna though..

She squinted her eyes shut at the memory.

Dear God. Why'd they do that to him?

Overwelmed, she buried her face into her arms again.

Travis watched from the open hatch, careful not to thread too close to the edge. "Showoff." he muttered to himself, then swallowed hard. Tree climbing had never really been a thing for him, at least not at this height. He carefully slipped the straps of the bag over his shoulders and made sure they were nice and tight. Slade shouted something back up to him, and the Hunter broke a smile. "Roger that." he yelled back.

TK took a deep breath, then leaped from the open hatch toward the nearest, largest branch of the tree with wide open arms. He fell through the air for a few seconds, before colliding with it and wrapping his arms tightly around the trunk. He took another breath and looked down, releasing his grip and landing a few feet below on another large branch. He sat there, crouched, for another few moments, carefully analysing which would be the quickest path down.

"They don't pay me enough to think like a monkey." he declared, hopping sideways to a somewhat thinner branch. It soon began to dip under his combined weight, so he dropped his legs down and reached out for another handhold.

Ian knelt down beside Khei and let her talk. He followed her gaze to Tristan as she spoke.

From Khei

I.. I saved him... They did nothin'.. They were gonna though..

He looked back at her as she closed her eyes in pain of memory.

"We've got him now. He'll pull through."

From Khei

Dear God. Why'd they do that to him?

'They do that sometimes. Anything to make better worlds, whether we like it or not."

She placed her back onto her arms and began to cry. Ian reached out and gently wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Just as gently he pulled her into an embrace, meaning to give her his shoulder to cry on instead of her own arms. Something an older brother or uncle would do.

He whispered to her, softly but understandably.

"It will be all right."

Never once did he say for her to stop crying. He would hold her as long as she wanted the comfort and no longer.

Remy nodded as Ian asked for help, it was the least he could do, as he had been saved by him. Remy looked at the places as Ian pointed them out, he would try his best to remember them, but it would probably take a few days for him to get acclimatized with the layout of the ship. Remy wasn't exactly a friend of Sonya, more an aquintance but he wasn't gonna argue pendatics now.

Ian asked him if he had any medical experience

Nothing extensive, just superficial wounds Remy replied

Remy watched as Ian talked to the woman named Khei

Remy started to pick up Corso, waiting for Ian to lead the way to the crews lounge.

Tobias Hawke

Pulling the ejection lever caused the hatch of the Airtank to blow off. The wind began to wildly smack Tobias in the face as his pilot seat was launched upwards. A parachute began to expand from the seat as he began to stabilize and float to safety.

Tobias saw the burning pieces of wreckage slowly fall below and reign destruction upon the city. Sirens were sounding as buildings were impacted from the debris. A large portion of the ship slammed into the outskirts of the city causing a wave of dirt and fire to flash over the area. Tobias landed near the outskirts and through the dust and smoke he saw the remnants of the IAV Ziggurat. A large section of the ship had pierced the earth towered before him. It became a memorial and a tomb to those that were lost.

Requiem for a Hawke
Tobias could only stare at the glorious sight of a ship hitting the earth like a ball of fire. The shockwave alone could be felt for miles, he saw it with his own eyes. It rippled out like a thin, invisible line of distortion on the forefront of everything, sending debris ricocheting in all directions away from the impact zone. It rumbled his chest despite rippling winds and the desperate swaying of his seat.

"Lovely." Hawke sighed. It seemed the reactors hadn't gone critical, for that he was thankful. If it had, the entire city would have been lost, and so would he.

As he was thrown roughly to ground, Tobias ripped off his belt and rose quickly from the seat, moving into the wreckage. It wouldn't be long before people descended like a cold harsh night on the Ziggurat, so he had little time to search for anything of use before hightailing it the hell out of there. He needed credits, at the very least, and a gun certainly wouldn't go astray.

"Gorram it... I'd kill them for taking my gear... If they weren't already dead..." He grumbled as he hoofed it into the flaming wreck.

Biff looked over to the doc and her man. She looks like death warmed over. Seemed to him that his friends weren't the only ones who had taken the wrong end of life lately. He began to silently put the chaos that was the med bay back into some kind of order.

God I hope there's beds here! At the thought of bed Biff remembered how exhausted he was. He had forgot that he was cleaning the med bay mid placing gauze packs back onto a shelf. He stood there lost in thought but not really thinking of anything. Gauze pack in hand almost made it to the shelf but not quite. His other hand rested his weight on the counter. He stared as if a statue.

Glory

Anders picked up around the med bay and had Trina sit back down. He fixed the needle and began to finally stich her shoulder wound and close it. Anders then gave her an auto injection in the neck as she felt a slight stinging sensation.

"To prevent infection and to help you sleep."

He lifted her legs on the medical table and laid her down. Trina passed out within seconds. "Keep an eye on her Mike. She should be okay." He rubbed the back of his neck and exited his room.

Glory did a U-Turn from the Baroness and re-entered Verbena's orbit. Once Glory broke through the atmosphere, Karyn could see fires and black smoke from the main city. Debris was scattered everywhere as emergency lights could be seen below.

Amongst the chaos below was a pillar of steel, a large chunk of Ziggurat that impacted the ground below and formed a massive crater.

Glory slowly descended into the main Starport as the landing gears were extended onto an open platform. Several ships were blasting out of the Starport at once, taking advantage of the destruction to escape the blockade. Large panicked crowds formed near the center of the city as looters began to raid businesses. Verbena Captial Police attempted to hold them back in full riot gear. A portion of the crowd began to push the Police back towards the Starport as they tried to flee the planet. Sirens whailed in the distance as emergency vehicles responded to the situation. "Get back or you will be shot upon! No one is leaving!" A loud voice chimed from a bullhorn. The crowd yelled and began to throw rocks. Shots than began to ring out in rapid succession.

Tobias Hawke

Havoc approached the wreckage as the flames licked towards him. He saw bloodied and burned bodies scattered all over the place. As he approached the massive twisted steel in the crater, he saw damaged lockers lining the area. One was partially bent open with his duster hanging out. If Tobias were to open it, he would find all his equipment.

Karyn tapped the ship's intercom. "Captain to the bridge. We have a major riot forming in the Starport area. Lots of law enforcement and angry citizenry."

She kept the Glory in hover, just feet off the tarmac, watching the throngs milling around just outside the perimeter fence. It didn't look too good from her viewpoint.

Out of the gorram frying pan.
But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free I've got nothing but affection for all those who sailed with me
Stick with me baby, stick with me anyhow. Things should start to get interestin' right about now

Slade tried as well to pick the path that would lead him quickly to the ground. When he still had twenty feet to go, he realized the branches ended, and there was nothing left but the trunk of the tree. Cringing inwardly about what it would do to his wardrobe, the sniper wrapped his limbs around the bark and slid the rest of the way down. Once he was safe and clear, Jackson looked back up to see how TK was doing as a hand tried to un-muss the ex-pirate's black silk shirt.

Khei didn't resist Ian's attempt to comfort her but it didn't seem to have much effect. She shook her head, still buried in the sleeves of the smock.

I've seen autopsies before but.. my god.. they butchered him..

She suddenly looked up, gripping Ian's arm, fresh tears still streaming.

I.. I killed a man.. I.. didn't mean to.. but.. I was scared and he lunged at me with a needle.. Does that make me a bad person?

As soon as he laid eyes on the locker, little else mattered in the wreckage. Tobias could have put a foot through the charred skull of a body and not noticed - or cared. He tromped across the burning and twisted metal landscape, a wreck he didn't cause for once, but a wreck he would have to accept blame for; after all, they had no one else to point to, why not blame it on the criminal?

As he flung open the locker, the hinges snapped, and it practically fell away. The clattering surprised Hawke; it was unusual for things to break under his flesh and blood arm, that honour was reserved for his now defunct prosthetic. Not only that, the locker door clattered loudly. So much so it was shocking, as it make Tobias aware of just how quiet the crash site was. Aside from the echo of emergency vehicles and response ships in the distance, and the crackle of the occasional fire, it was near silent.

Like a great beast had touched down and finally come to rest, little moved in the wreck. Bodies laid still, fires crackled persistently, but without rush - they had little place to go. Sometimes a spark would echo or a piece of wreck would fall off the main hull, but even as the sky continued to empty itself of pieces of the Ziggurat that came down, burning up like a brilliant meteor shower, it was still so... Silent.

Knowing he had little time, Tobias grabbed his duffel, and stuffed his clothes into the top of it. With a whip and a swing, he flicked on his long duster, and then spent a long moment struggling to get his gun belt on with one arm. He would have felt ridiculous if he were being watched, but the wreck was bathed in an oppressive quiet, even with the fire and the sparks and the sirens in the distance; it was hard to feel anything that wasn't sombre.

Finally, Hawke took a long red loop of fabric in hand, and slid it over his head. It came to rest on his chest, as if it belonged there. Pulling on his hat and pulling it low, Havoc stepped away from the wreck on his own two feet - most likely the last man to ever step away from the Ziggurat itself outside of a body bag.

He made off toward the city. He had to get off world, and fast was better than slow.

Becker conceded as Ander's ushered Trina up. On releasing a breath he uttered the word, "okay," before bringing his head back up with open eyes. He would argue that he was just about to fall asleep where he was. Carefully he brought Trina away from him, not wanting to disturb her peaceful rest, then raised her onto the main bed with Ander's assistance.

As Anders did his work Mike flicked his left arm around, bending a straightening it at the elbow, then rotating it from the shoulder. There was a great ache on his joints. He turned back to Anders who had wrapped up. "Thanks." It was a throwaway phrase that didn't even come with eye contact, but it was sincere.

Approaching Trina's side, Becker took a precaution that had been neglected today, and pulled one strap across her waist to secure her to the bed. Following that he retrieved a blanket from the room, and covered Trina up to her neck so she could keep warm and sleep well. He gazed upon her for a while, thoughts running through his head, then stepped away.

Mike sought out something appropriate for the wound he knew was still open on the side of his head. Touching a hand below the wound, he knew that dried blood had coated the area below. Becker looked over to Biff. "How bad's the leg?"

GLORY BRIDGE

Sonya stirred under the blanket, The restraints kept it to a minimum. Dreams started to form of mirrored room and her little boy in the reflection, but far away. Mist. When she moved closer something dark moved with her, scared the boy. 'he should be scared of you'

Her head shook, face hardened just a little.

Travis groaned a little as he reached out toward another branch. Godamn tree's, all manner of chaotic. That's nature for ya. Quickly looking down, he spotted Slade further below making quick progress down what remained of the tree trunk. "Hell with this...." he muttered to himself. Slipping one of the bag straps off his shoulder, he then held the bag out at arms length and let go. Sure enough, the bag plummeted to the ground below, snapping its way through the foliage.

"TIMBER!" TK roared, letting go of the main trunk and falling backwards into a sea of leaves of branches. A few seconds of painful scratching later, he was on the ground with a rather heavy thud.

Slade saw the bag fall, followed quickly after by his partner. He moved close to give the other man a hand up.

"Well, that's definitely one way down. So, do we wait for someone to respond to the pod's beacon, or do we hoof it to civilization? If it's the latter, any idea which direction to go in?"

"How bad's the leg?"
Being spoken to snapped Biff out of the space he was staring in and he placed the gauze on the shelf and looked at Becker. "Alls good. I'll have a yet another wonderful scar to add to my character but it won't show much. I'm not much of a shorts kind of guys." He gave a tired smile. " Is there anything you need help with?"

Anything he could help him with. Becker looked to Trina behind him, patched up and resting securely. He looked around rest of the room which despite efforts was still intact. He thought of the regiment they had on board, and the relative safety they were now enjoying.

"I think we're out of the woods." Becker's main concern was his own state, able to recall each knock he'd taken today down to a face full of the doorframe of their current room. His chin hurt at the thought of it, though it felt like a long time ago now.

Mike rubbed his chin and his left arm ached causing a furrow in his burrow which aggraveted the scrape on his head. He was also well aware that the first step he took would jab at his hip. "All I'd ask for right now is a companion." He took him a few small moments to recognise how that sounded. "For the massages. They give really good." He shook his head, not motivated enough to argue profusely.

Taking steps toward Biff he put a hand out. "Welcome aboard. I'm Mike. You roll in with Sonya?"
