When Trina began speaking, Mike was immediately back to her side, leaving the cabinet he had been routing through open. He didn't like her speaking, it seemed to be troublesome.
"Yeah, well, you're an idiot like that." It was clearly a joke, but Mike failed to muster a smile. As Trina gave instruction, Mike did his best to follow. He turned back to the cabinet in question and knocked a few packages aside as he pulled out rolls of gauze. On further instruction he grabbed the item next to it, and held it before Trina for confirmation before pulling a few more packages out. They splashed out from his grip and onto the counter as he assessed what he had, then further instruction took him to the far drawer. Dermal foam was easily picked out, followed by the vials once he set sight on them and then, with some hesitation, a needle. "Okay." The extra items were grouped with the earlier collation. "I know how to use the foam. Ish. Using the gauze is pretty simple." He paused for a moment, inspecting another package. "I've never stitched someone up before though." He expected the vial and needle. "What's this for? Anesthetic?"
Mike hadn't even acknowledged Ander's entrance, but now his attention was held. "You..." He considered their early animosity. "You do everything you can." |

Jenna moved slowly towards Remy and flopped down on the floor. He put his arm around her shoulders and for the first time in a long time she felt safe. She watched as Biff limped his way to the infirmary and then she looked up at Remy and slipped out from under his arm. “Hope you don’t mind but I think I need to go to sleep.” She curled up next to her friend and her eyes slowly fluttered shut. |

Remy watched as Sonya and Biff walked away. They had medical needs that needed to be tended too, things which could be sorted out by a bandage or two. But some other people had other medical needs that were below the surface that needed to be tended too. Remy knew that Jenna was one of them, she was so young, but had been on such an adventure, much like he, but was her young mind able to cope with the stress that she had just been put through. She needed to rest, he nodded at her before she lay down. As she started curl up, almost in the fetal position. Remy pulled out his bag of belongings, taking out a sarong that he had, he laid it out on top of her, to act as a blanket of some sort. Remy then just sat there, legs stretched out in front of him, just sitting next to a sleeping Jenna. For the first time in a long time, he felt safe. |

Anders ripped the sleeve off Trina's shirt off and cut a large patch of cloth off her chest and back so he could have room to work. Anders then took a syringe and filled it with the clear liquid of the vial. He then injected her in the shoulder blade to numb the area. "Looks like it went clear through. You will be alright Doc." Anders smiled weakly as he applied enough dermal foam to her entry and exit wound. Once the blood clotted he looked at her reassuringly. "I am going to sit you up now. My stiching isn't the best, but it will stop the bleeding." He went for a needle and stiches on the table and began to thread the needle. A voice boomed over the bay intercom. "Stand clear! Bay Doors opening! Glory powered to life with Karyn at the Controls as the docking bay doors slowly opened. The pressurized air escaped out of the docking bay and into the vacuum outside as the entire ship began to rumble. Something was wrong. Karyn could see out of the helm and she wasn't in space. They were already breaking into Atmo! The entire cruiser began to snap apart as Glory started to drift backwards into a wall while everything was collapsing around them. Glory violently shook as anything not bolted down was thrown about. |

Though meant as a reassurance for the doc, Mike would argue that it had assured him more than anyone else. The knowledge to decipher her well being for himself non existent and he didn't feel right asking her about her own fate. He gave a longer breath that echoed a sigh of relief. Looking over to Biff, Becker gave consideration to all the guests they had on board. Was there a security risk? He questioned whether he should be more on task with all the people he could account for. Still, there was a strong sense to stay by the doctor. He managed a few steps across the room, still running things through his mind "That Corso'll need seeing to." He looked to Biff again. "Along with you." And away, toward Anders. "Maybe more, I can't-" The shipwide broadcast was some warning for turbulence, but Becker hadn't prepared himself for such sudden and violent shocks. He first found his hip rammed into the counter, and before he could take grip he was tossed in the other direction, sprawling out on the floor and feeling all the bumps that flowed through Glory. As he adjusted to his own position, he quickly developed concern for her the ship's jerks had treated Trina. |

TK grimaced slightly as the pair were hurled from the IAV and down towards the planets surface. He looked down, and soon remembered there was no down, and so looked up instead. Damn space travel. He turned his attention to the changing Slade. "You as a preacher, sure, I'd buy that, but me? Never was a man of faith myself." he replied, quickly looking down at the dirty, mis-matched plates of what remained of his armour. "Lets go with deserter. Survivor, even. Man of God saves former sinner. Folks love a good story." Travis then rattled off, eyes darting between Slade and the small viewport as the world tore by outside. |

Slade finished his quick change, then grinned at TK with a nod. "Saving a sinner, I like it, I like it a lot. We'll go with that. As for God, I believe in a higher power. It spends well, buys me nice things, and will be in my possession shortly. The higher the amount, the higher the power. Say, this pod is full of Alliance tech. You think we could sell it for extra creds, or will we have to give it up as payment for a rescue?" |

The two men in suits and blue gloves watched from their small craft as the once mighty Ziggurat burst in flames as it entered into the atmosphere of Verbena and began to break apart. Dozens of escape pods were jettisoned from the ship to the surface below. "Execute." One of them spoke sharply as the other pressed a red trigger. All the escape pods blew up suddenly as the debris and burned bodies burned up in the atmosphere. All except one. "We have a malfunction on the last pod. Plan trajectory and intercept planet side." A panicked voice came over the airwaves. "Mayday, Mayday! This is the IAV Ziggurat. Verbena Control we are going down! I repeat we are going down! .... Tobias Hawke! ....Malfunction with the bay doors! Can't escape! Help, I repeat Hel...." The rest was static. Edited by loneviking, Apr 15 2013, 01:58 AM.

Karyn had been an air tank pilot for much of her career. There had been times that she had been fired on, flown through rough atmo before, even flown through flax and defensive fire from opposing capital ships. But she hadn't experienced being inside a major craft as it dove into the thickness of atmosphere on its way to total destruction. She gritted her teeth and put all the other things out of her mind. She pushed hard on the throttles, giving both thrusters all the power they could take, put the nose to the half open bay door and "threaded the needle" to get Glory out as fast as she could. She slammed the gear controls up to eliminate any excessive outboard protrusions, hoping to avoid knocking off anything while trying to get the craft through that tight opening. She winced as the ship slid forward even as an errant gantry toppled over and clanged against the port wing. A lifeless body sailed past her port window as it was sucked out of the hanger by escaping air. Inches were all she had for a safety measure as the Glory tucked out the bay door and slithered past the crashing debris left behind in the hanger. |

Sonya watched, her body trying to relax - fighting off the return of pain to find surrender in sleep. But the excitement of their exit kept her eyes pinned open. Her body leaned a little as Karyn made an adjustment, Sonya tightened a strap to keep her body firmly in the chair. "A little.... " she said, but Karyn had it done before she could say anything more. Heading into atmo, might be a worry in most ships. Spaceships built for the black, not highspeeds in wind and air resistance. They burned, they tore apart. Not for Glory, Mayfair Class, a brute. "You can punch it in the atmo. She can take it." Gulliver wanted to do it, wanted to tell her when, but you couldn't. You had to feel the thrusters shaking in your hands, feel the slap of the planet's breathe against the intake coils. Planet against ship. Ship wins. Or you die. Competition that could get a girl all fluttery.

Ian let let Karyn take First seat, He took Second giving Dom third. Sonya took the Crash seat as things came apart around and the 'Verse turned to Fire and Ice. Both could kill a man Ian followed up with what Karyn and Dom were doing. Sonya's advice was good. "Do as she says. The Glory will take it." He caught the garbled massage as it came in on the Emergency Freq. "Tobias, I pray that's not you this time." He paused and he corrected a vector "Be seein ya, old friend." The Docking Bay finally gave way to the Black as frozen bodies of the Marines bounced off the Forward ports. They were not free and clear, but they were in the Black He hit the All Comm "If ya haven't already Brace for Shock!" He thumbed the switch off and helped fly the Glory to safety, away from the exploding, crashing former Alliance ship. |

Queen of the Lost Chapters

Having only just been sat up, Trina barely registered the warning for turbulence when the whole room seemed to shift around her. Only, it wasn't just shifting. It was acting as if it were trying to throw her around. The second bed was suddenly coming at her. In the split second before she collided stomach first into the bed, she wondered how she'd managed to get her feet under her. The wind was knocked out of her, her knees gave way and she was dropping once again. Her nose narrowly missed the edge of the bed and then her eyes were inches away from the support beam beneath the bed. Ian's warning finally broke through and registered. And yet she couldn't muster the strength to move. The pain in her left shoulder was fading some, but so was the adrenaline. She felt like dead weight and a chill ran through her, making her whole body shiver. And still, she couldn't bring enough drive to simply reach out and hang on to the bed support so she wouldn't be thrown around any further. This isn't like you, Trina. You've never given up before... Her mother's voice, a moment from years ago, echoed in her head. I know it hurts, love, but don't give up yet. Push through and you will find yourself stronger on the other side. Trina took a shaky breath and then grabbed hold of the support with her good arm. There were still people who might need her. |

"Trin!" Unable to intervene, Becker could only watch as the doctor fell from the bed, onto her feet and then stumble into the other bed stomach first. His eye narrowed as far as they could without closing at the moment of impact, while gritted teeth made appropriate company. Seeing her injury managed to cause more pain than the head scratch and hip bruise were laying on him "No," he mutter as he looked on her positioning. Refusing to accept any more assaults, Becker clambered to his feet but had reached Trina before he attained his full height. "I gotchya now." As he had said it, he had worked an arm around her waist leaving his hand braced on her stomach. With his other hand he pulled her up into a seated position before assuming the same beside her. That second hand then took a firm grip on the best protruding object his hand could clasp. "Consider me your seatbelt Trina," and so he tasked himself with keeping her and himself secure for the bumpy ride. |

The engine room of Glory began to fill with smoke as it was pushed to it's limits by Karyn who pushed the thrusters to max acceleration. With some needlework flying, Glory flew out the docking bay of Ziggurat with seconds to spare. A wave of explosions rippled through the mighty Alliance Cruiser as it snapped in half and broke into smaller pieces while breaking into the atmosphere of Verbena. Thick black smoke filled the sky of Verbena as the mountainous pieces of debris rained down to the city below. As soon as glory exited Ziggurat, a red flashing light blinked on her panel. Warning! Engine Overheated! System Offline! The power to Glory surged as the lights flickered. Then suddenly, everything went dark as the ship powered down. Glory was without control and stuck in a tail spin as it wildly plummeted to the surface below. Anyone not buckled in would be thrown about the ship. Tobias Hawke Seeing his maker die in front of him caused him to enter a state of shock. A trance almost. Tobias awoke to the sounds of explosions and being thrown upside down in the elevator from an apparent gravity shift. How long has he been out? Tobias quickly climbed and made his way into a docking bay. Marines were running around and panicking, unable to open the bay door. Tobias saw an open airtank hatch and made his move amongst the chaos, jumping into the cockpit. Tobias sealed the hatch and powered up the airtank. Alliance controls were fairly simple. A Marine who saw Tobias pointed his rifle at him and prepared to fire as the walls around him ripped open and sucked all the Marines and anything not bolted down into the vacuum of space. Tobias's airtank was flung into the atmosphere of Verbena and spun wildly as warning messages flashed and sounded on the console. Edited by loneviking, Apr 15 2013, 12:11 PM.

"Credits, yes?" He smiled. "I appreciate the symbolism. God and currency - two creations of man without which many fear there would be chaos…." Travis began, trailing off a series of flashes from outside briefly lit up the interior of the pod. He turned away and looked out, eyes squinted as he tried to focus on the twinkling, shifting objects. The IAV Ziggurat had begun her death dive in the atmosphere, ripples of thousands of smaller explosions danced across her hull, which glowed brighter with each second. He looked back to Slade a moment later, no trace of concern on his face. "This little beauty." Travis said quietly. "Ought to be a worth a pretty penny. A genuine Alliance escape pod, from the cursed IAV Ziggurat no less." He reached out and placed his hand flat against one of the walls. The pod outside groaned loudly in protest. "Used condition. Collectors item." |

Requiem for a Hawke
|
The state Tobias had entered wouldn't have been described as grief, or sorrow, no. The trance he had entered could only really be viewed as pure dumbfoundedness - utter, but otherwise serene bewilderment. In hindsight, he pondered calmly as the airtank span wildly out of control, it had been of some use. Up until the docking back, he had managed to navigate the shot-to-hell ship in relative peace. He did recall some ire earned at the man who broadcast a message impersonating Hawke, but smirked - it was a poor, poor imitation. No flair. Sighing, Hawke stuffed the cortex device he still had from Grimm into the pocket of his overalls, and considered his situation for a moment. With a hiss, he flicked a few switches, silencing most of the alarms the Airtank screamed at him. Bloody Alliance and their bloody regulation safety systems. The tank span and span, and Tobias knew he would fight the entire way down with the automated guidance system in trying to rectify the spin - these vehicles weren't designed for this kind of space flight. They were drop and deploy tanks. However, on scratching his chin, he smiled a long, wolfy grin, flashing teeth and all. As if he had worked the controls before, no doubt a part of Grimm's monstrous programming, Hawke found and activated the music player. He smirked softly as he flicked through the tracks with blinding speed. Suddenly, it stopped, and the hiss of air being played through the tank's interior speakers could be heard. Tobias gripped the turret controls suddenly, and his lips split into a maniacal grin. His elbow seemed to knock the broad-comm control as he moved - the airtank began streaming interior voice out to all nearby ships. On the now derelict IAV Ziggurat, automatically picking up his tank's frequency, as well as any other vessels willing to accept the active transmission, a memorable guitar riff rang out. "Livin' easy! Livin' free! Season ticket on a one way ride!" Hawke sang out in a stringy higher pitched voice, along with the blaring guitar riffs and paced drums. Firing up the controls, the gun turret swiveled slowly into position under his command. As a round loaded into place, he waited patiently, closing his eyes. "Askin' nothin'! Leave me be! Takin' everythin' in my stride!" The tank whirled viciously in the empty black, and in his mind, a sphere orbited, mapping out the trajectory and roll of the tank as he aligned the gun barrel. "Don't need reason! Don't need rhyme! Ain't nothin' I'd rather doooo!" His wrists twitched, the tank's turret making micro adjustments as it soared into atmo, shuddering as the wisps of Verbena's life began to take hold. "GOIN' DOWN! PARTY TIME! MY FRIENDS ARE GONNA BE THERE TOOOO! YEOW!" His eyes opened, and he squeezed the trigger. The incredible thoom of the tank's gun, firing against the spin of the airtank, almost couldn't be heard as the chorus blared out with Tobias in key. "I'M ON THE HIIIIIIGH WAAAAY TO HEEELL!" |

A piece of debris sliced into the left thruster of Hawke's airtank causing him to free spin even faster to the surface. Tobias couldn't gain control. Red letters lit up the console as it flashed. WARNING! EJECT! There was a yellow lever directly at his knees that would eject him from the Airtank. |

Khei's emotional collapse was cut short once the turbulence began. She did what she could to get herself and the wheelchair secured in some way. She hoped the wheelchair belt would be enough to restrain the still unconscious man. When the ship went dark and began to spin, she gritted her teeth and shut her eyes. Her fingers curled into a death grip on any purchase she could find to help keep herself from being tossed around like a ragdoll. |
