<<Remy, Jenna and Biff enter from 'Crossroads'>>

Unrelenting chaos ensued across the city as the fugitives fled from one crime scene to another. Biff's grenade had exploded, sending the shiny new vehicle it had rolled underneath high into the air in a magnificent fireball. The man kept running, though, now that he and the Feds were playing by the same rules.

A few minutes went by before the trio met up again - Biff found Remy and Jenna hiding quietly in an alleyway, some way from the distant chaos that was surrounding the bar they'd witnessed the destruction of earlier that day.

The three of them were still lost, without direction, and definitely on the run. All they had was the coin in their pocket - considerably boosted by the salvage Remy had sold a few days before - and the gear on their backs. Amongst it all, buried in Remy's pack, were a few of the small vials labelled TD-112.

What it all meant, where they could possibly head next, and just what lay ahead of them - only time would tell.

As Calhoon stood there, panting as he caught his breathe, a familiar smell met his senses. A smell he recalled from the old days, when he was youthful and innocent. That scent which, as a boy, he'd always smelt on the air just as the weather was coming. Something was just over the horizon.

Biff was so glad to have reunited with Remy and Jenna. The campsite meeting if things went south was a great plan but to Biff it seemed a little to close to retreating and Biff was a little tired of that.

He took some deep breathes both to catch his from the run now that adrenaline was leveling off and to cleanse his mind. He was finally back in control of the animal rage that the abrasive Hawke boiled up in him. One, two, three breathes. Sudden calm and contentment fell upon him. Rain. He could smell it in the air. This was his favorite part of a storm. The calm before. He would share that love with his beloved daughter Kaitlyn sitting on the porch waiting for the storm to roll in. He missed her so much. Her loss is such a burden on his soul, what was left of it.

"Alright guys ideas would be very welcome I reckon." Biff wiped his brow to feign mopping sweat and he swatted the single tear that formed in the corner of his left eye. "There's one guy I know around here but I didn't want to involve him because he's not the most trust worthy of folk. I saved him in the war so he owes me but if he sees an opportunity for profit he'll likely take it. He was my one contact I had if my depression turned an ugly direction." Ducking down to reload his magazines and to check his full side arm again he scanned the alley both ways while speaking. "I figured I'd throw him into the idea hat but lets face it we haven't had much luck with our "friends". Do you guys have anything else?"

Remy was glad when Biff came round the corner. Seemed that they were the only ones left, and they had to look after each other somehow. For someone he had only just met not so long ago, they had been through a lot already. Things like 'saving your life' will put people in good stead with you. Biff was tired, they all were, they had been running, both literally and metaphorically for a while now. When would it stop?

Biff talked, trying to come up with an idea, anything, anything which would help them. Remy didnt have much

The only contact that I could find in the area was the Tsangs, and look how that turned out. Apart from her, the only other people me, and I'm sure Jenna knows we left back at that Saloon. I'm all out of contacts said Remy downtrodden.

But I have some credits, we could go to the docks, pay passage and try and get off this rock it was all he had, the only thing he could come up with

A cool breeze sent some idle pieces of papers fluttering down the alley and the trio remained still for a while, enjoying the odd calm that had fallen over them. How long it would last, only time would tell, but at least for the moment they had come to a halt, and it was welcomed.

The chaos and confusion from the battle site was still only a few blocks away, but the afternoon city was rather quiet. A light rain started to fall and Biff, getting bearings on the city, knew that a route to the spaceport on foot wasn't that far off, if that turned out to be their only option.

At this Biff stood up smiling. "Lets make it the best of both worlds. My "friend's" house is en route to the port. We'll stop refit and move on if you two decide to."

Biff oftentimes loathed the chaos that was his life since the war. Every time he got close to someone they were taken away either by choice or by life. "If you guys decide to take off into the black the port is where we have to part ways. You two have found yourselves in your own heap o' trouble and I have a pretty nice sized one myself." Beginning to walk again in the direction of his old pals house and the space port he continued. "The type of heat I have on me is bigger then I first imagined. You two will never be able to clear your names or find out anything about those vials until I'm away from you." Scanning the rooftops as the rain started he added. "I have to find and stop whoevers following me around and I can't do that from a ship leaving this rock behind."All too ironic since all I've wanted since I woke up in that alley was to get off this rock.

As the discussion took place, Jenna's eye was caught by something nearly falling out of her bag. It was an envelope, tucked beside one of the small vials they had taken from the Red Dawn. On the front of the now slightly soggy envelope was written 'The Gang'. She remembered Joseph diving across her and her bag as the firefight at the bar had begun.

Once Jenna and Remy stopped in the alley she found a somewhat dry place to sit down and close her eyes. She was hopping that Biff would come back and that everything would be alright for the moment.

When Biff returned they tried to figure out where they would go next.

"Alright guys ideas would be very welcome I reckon."

Jenna tilted her head to one side and thought about this. She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head.

“Sorry guys most of my travelling consists of a lot of sneaking around and hiding in small places. I'm pretty sure that you can do the sneaking part not to sure you could do the hiding in small places part. "

But I have some credits, we could go to the docks, pay passage and try and get off this rock.

At the sound of this suggestion Jenna perked up. “I might be able to help out with the credits I have a little bit stashed away and I'm willing to help out if you want. "As it started to rain she started rummaging through her bag and came up with a handful of credits. As she did this something else caught her eye. It was an envelope that seemed to have fallen into the bag.

Quote:

"Lets make it the best of both worlds. My "friend's" house is en route to the port. We'll stop refit and move on if you two decide to."

Jenna smiled it would be nice to be someplace for awhile where no one was shooting and trying to blow us up she thought and then she turned her attention back to the envelope.

“Guys I'm not sure what this but I think it might have belonged to Joseph.” She held out the envelope and watched as the rain drops splattered over the two words written on the front

Inside the envelope was a carefully folded piece of paper, now slightly dampened from the light rain that was falling across the miserable scene. It was a short note, scribbled down in pen and with haste.

'The Gang'

I am writing this short message in light of certain... recent insights and certain current situations. It seems we're in a particular hot place, as in, oh gorram it burns kinda hot. Don't panic though. Bad as it is, it could be a lot worse; you could be dead. Speaking of which, don't take my stuff.

Somehow we got involved in a fight with a nest of gorram wasps. They (whoever 'they' are) were after the vials, and some kid named Tobias. They were tracking 'em, one on the Red Dawn, the other on a boat named The Horizon. Wrong place, wrong time I guess.

Whatever the fuck this is, it goes deep. No law flags or fed traces. That's someone who doesn't plan to by the rules, so, neither will you. See, the thing about fighting wasps is simple. First you retreat, get a little range, then you stop and turn, and swing like a son of a bitch.

So here's the theory. You take those vials and go find little Toby, then find out who these suit wearing 'Rebirth' bastards are and put an end to them.

Your friend, Val (Joe)

While Jenna read the note out loud Biff ducked his head as much out of the rain as possible pulled a VERY dry and battered cigar from his pocket and with his last match struck a flame. He hadn't expect the gorram thing to light but the wind suddenly stopped at the perfect moment. The dry cigar burst into flames and he flung it out into the street having practically lit his face on fire.

He shrugged his shoulders at his friends amused glances and said, "Well I say we do just that. We'll stop into my old buddy Silas' place and gear up and refit. Then we go and find our new friend big tall and moody. Seems like all of our answers lay in his path." He looked up into the rain and said under his breath, "Thanks Joseph."

Biff started talking about splitting up, Remy didnt like that plan. Remy had led a sheltered life, he had worked at the Guild, looking after younglings, after sometime he decided to join a boat. Remy liked the life, but he was still fairly sheltered, he was called back tot he Guild to teach, and he had only just gotten a chance to leave them again, for maybe some more adventure, thats why he was at the space station, in what seemed like years ago, and that is when he was drawn into 'this life', this 'on the run' life, Remy wasn't expecting this much adventure, and whilst he thought himself 'of the world', during this time with the Red Dawn and Biff, he knew he didnt know as much as he thought he did.

Jenna talked, and it seemed like she wasn't for this life either, as much as he hated being a burden on someone, Remy knew he had to stick with Biff. biff seemed like he knew what he was doing, Remy didnt.

Then there was a letter. It was read.

The Vials Those guys wanted the vials. Remy hung his head, this was his fault, if he hadn't had taken those vials, they would have been ok, but Remy had to take them didnt he? It seemed that Remy had been part of everything that had went wrong. The fight at the station was his fault, the vials was his fault. Everything was his fault.

Biff had a plan. Remy had to help. Afterall, this seemed to have started with him.

The group were able to grab hold of a taxi nearby, driving by the earlier destroyed vehicle Biff had thrown an explosive underneath. As they had hoped, the area was crawling with Feds who were most likely on the trail of the there now-fugitives. Not one of them paid any attention to the taxi.

A half hour later the group were dropped off outside a huge apartment building. The hulking wall of the ship yards to the south could be seen, as well as the huge bulky shadows of transport and cargo hauler ships beyond that. The rain was heavier now, the afternoon shaded by a veil of clouds that fooled one into thinking night had already fallen. Thunder shook the skies, lightning flashing angrily across the city.

Hopefully Biff's 'friend' would have a warm meal to offer.

Smiling to himself as they passed the Feds he got ready for his up coming meeting. Silas had an annoying habit of making Biff want to wrap his hands around his throat and finish what the Alliance started. Silas was meant to help him off world if Biff had lost everything during his little trip to oblivion. "Okay guys Silas is pretty stand up which is why I didn't want to involve him in all of this. He also has a habit of answering questions with questions. Drives me nuts. Steel yourselves." Biff smiled at them giving off the air that he was only half joking.

They got into a taxi, and Remy did his best to not arouse suspicion. Thing is, it could be hard not to be suspicious when you are trying not too, but giving his training as a Companion he was able to act naturally in the taxi. The journey went without hitch.

Getting out of the taxi they found themselves outside, rain was falling, the sarong that Remy was wearing, which wasn't great for wearing in such weather would be drenched in a couple of minutes and being able to run would be a problem.

Biff talked to them, Remy should be able to keep it together, again, his training meant he rarely got flustered, well, outwardly anyway. Remy nodded to Biff and followed him as he walked, making sure that Jenna was still with them.

When the earth began to shake Biff didn't even look out to see the flames. This was his new reality. Seems every few hours something totally insane tripped them up. He was determined to change the dynamic and rain furious vengence on the ass Edgecombe and any of his ilk that showed their heads from under their rocks. What now?

Silas lifted his head quickly as he felt the building quake at it's very foundations. He moved to return his gaze towards the table and the project spread out before him. His hand twitched in annoyance at the sudden disruption. Arc's flew between his fingers as his soldering iron burned though a chip overloading his piece of tech "Guai guai long de dong..." He growled darkly as he knocked the mechanical pieces and other suck odd bits of metal from the table.

"It's not bad enough they took everything..." He said closing his eyes, he took in a deep breath and held it. The scent of charged metal hung in the air. He released his breath and rose to his feet. I guess it's time for me to go out and see what's going on... He snatched an apple out of his fruit basket and slipped it into the pocket of his trench-coat.

He donned the jacket and quickly slipped out the front door. Headed down the steps he exited the building, only to find out it was raining. He looked up and saw the cloud cover and let his gaze fall towards the flames in the distance. "Beautiful..." he grinned as he knew something big was happening and it might mean his chance to leave this planet far behind.

He was about to run towards the flame when he noticed a familiar face. Standing around a couple of people he didn't quite know. Not that it made any difference, that would change soon. Everything changed wherever he was concerned.

He beamed a completely innocent grin and shoved a hand in his pocket. The other raised in the air above his head as he waved sincerely. "Long time no see..."

Biff looked up at the familiar mans voice. It had been too long. Biff made friends often and then moved on away from them for fear of bringing trouble into their lives. Trouble just seemed to follow him around no matter what he was doing or where he was. "Man it's been awhile." Turning to his friends he said, "Remy, Jenna, this is Silas Verren." Dripping from the rain he asked, "Could we lay low at your place till we figure out where we're going?"

The earth shook, and flames came from far away. It was almost like an Apocalypse, but Remy tried to keep it together. Remy had to try and keep it together, for Jenna sake. Sure she seemed like she was old beyond her years, but she was still 'a kid'. So much had happened not only to him, but to her. It seemed like this nightmare would never end, but they had to stay strong. As much as they didnt know each other, all they had was each other, and they had been through so much already.

All of a sudden, someone came out of nowhere. Remy's arm went for his sword, and held it there, in case anything was going to happen, but it seemed like biff knew the person in front of them.

Remys hand went back down, and he looked at the person in front of them. Remy didnt trust many people, it had taken a while for Biff to really earn his trust. Remy would seem outwardly trusting, but inside, he was always going to be suspicious. Especially after the last time they had seeked help.

Remy nodded at the person. Acknowledging them.

Silas grinned at his old friend. "Of course," He said his grin seemingly wider now. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his trench coat, rising to the balls of his feet temporarily. He tilted his head back over his shoulder at the front door to the complex. "Shall we?" he asked before turning back to his "home" if you could even call it that.

Though Biff worried that bringing Silas into this mess would get him hurt he knew how good Silas was at getting himself out of trouble and off the grid. This was one of the reasons Biff had him as a backup in case he needed to get off this rock. "Hey man did you get the package I sent you before I got here? Didn't think I'd ever need it but I'd rather have it and not need it then not have it at all."

Biff followed Silas back the way he came thinking back he said, "Also if there's any supplies you could spare for my friends. I could always pay you back as soon as I can. I know Jenna was eying some knives back when we first met." He slumped his shoulders. "We have been through hell and back with little to no respite."
