He knelt down by the pipe and carefully started to inspect it, concerned at first what it could be the large man pulled out his wire cutters. He checked the cuts on all the wires that were hanging out and then at the pinched end, As long as it aint a pipebomb. he mentions.

Erideth gave the explosives man a wide berth while he looked at the pipe. I'll be right here if it goes off...with you between me an' it. Jus' make sure you call out if it goes up. she states, mostly jibing the larger man. She was starting to relax a little around them.

The odd mechanism was completely safe. Whatever made it whatever it was wasn't at the bottom of the shaft.

The mine stretched onward ahead of them and it would take the next ten minutes until the first minor rock fall blocked their path.

The large man grinned a bit, stuffing an explosive into whatever this device was, then placed it back down by the corpses, handing Alex the detonator to that explosive, It won't be goin' up anytime soon lil' lady, though it can now. he grinned and at the first rockfall he took a moment to assess how thick and hard it would be to do by hand or if this would require tipping off that they are there and using a bit of a bang.

Xavier's professional eye caught the draft through the crevasses and eying the top of the rock fall realized that it was safe and reasonable to dislodge by hand.

He carefully climbs up to near the top of the pile and quietly starts to remove rocks and place them near the bottom of the pile, he knew doing it this way would take a few minutes but an element of surprise would be key today. He whispers to the others, Watch yourselves, we just gotta clear a path.

After a while of everyone moving rocks they made a suitable path to go through. Dusk and water dropped from the ceiling and the earth shook slightly every few minutes. Just enough for them to notice but nothing that would bring the house down.

They came to the next rock fall and beyond that was the ruins of the town sunk into the mire that was this very inhospitable land.

Xavier observed the rock fall once again this time though he would need to blast through it.

(OOC: I think that too my friend but I'm a patient man. Haha!)

It took the demolitions expert a few minutes to set up his explosives and he ushered everyone back around a corner, Welp, here's the doorbell. He looks to make sure everyone is ready and holds up the detonator, You ladies ready?

Erideth nodded her head and looked ready at least, Yeah, go ahead and blow it. she told the man as she leaned against the stone wall for support, ready for the explosion she knew was going to come.

(OOC: Don't worry, around school I'm still peeking in. )

Alex too braced for the explosion to come. He was confident in Xavier's knowledge with explosives. He'd known him long enough. But explosions always seemed much larger than what he expected no matter how prepared he tried to be.

He nodded after Erideth.

As ready as I'll ever be..

After confirming with his cohorts that they were ready he presses the trigger on the detonator causing the rocks to become nothing more than gravel and leaving dust filling the air. He peeks his head around the corner, eyes protected by his goggles and breathing by his mask, checking to see if anyone's come looking at what this ruckus is, Get ready ladies, might be havin' some company soon. he readied his grenade launcher with flash-bang grenades, these always go over well in tight corridors where others aren't expecting bright lights and he's prepared with polarizing goggles.

The blast blew the rock fall out of the corridor enough to allow passage. The whole mine shook with the shock of the blast. Several cracks formed and instantly started to leak water but after a few minutes it seemed that the worst was over.

They were able to make it finally into the the main chamber where much of the settlement and Cai's ancestor had slide into the mine. The debris and rubble of most of the buildings were the general fair you'd find around a terraforming settlement. When they reached the ruin they were looking for that changed dramatically. The richness of the items were evident. Relics of historic note were all over and there were three large trunks that a collector would use to store items away from the outside environment. These were locked with a normal lock.

Seeing so many relics lifted Alex's spirit dramatically. He rifled around in a pocket to find the lockpick tool he had chosen from the plethora of equipment Cai had provided them. He gave a rare smile as he waggled the tool in the air.

Shall we open them up and see what we hve here?

Xavier was leery of the situation, looking around constantly and then getting an idea, Yeah, sure boss. is all he really said before sauntering off to the other nearby tunnels out of this cavern. He would check down the tunnel before placing an explosive off to a side in a place hard to see and that he knew would knock that tunnel shut if he were to blow things off.

Erideth came around the corner and smiled, whistling at the contents of the main passage, looking around at the remains of the ruins. She was a little more distracted than Alex, trying to find anything she could slip into her pocket that might be worth a fair bit of coin down the road...while the pair dealt with the trunks.

With a distinct click the trunks opened one by one. The first three were filled with relics from Earth that was. Trinkets all perfectly preserved in the airtight trunks. The fourth had the globe in it's carrying case and at least five thousand pieces of silver.

Looking around the caverns Xavier grins a bit and dusts off his hands after setting up a few dozen explosives. He looks at Alex and Erideth, We find what we're lookin' for? he asked over his shoulders, backing up towards his friends and keeping a close eye on the tunnels in, never know when things can go down.

Alex stood up straight, admiring the contents of the trunks. His smile widened but ghosted away just as quickly. He shut the trunks and nodded to Xavier.

Globe's here. Plenty of swag for our trouble as well. Thing is this is far too easy. When was the last time we had a job go THIS smooth?

He slung his pack off and sifted around for other artifacts he thought would be the most valuable to other clients and contacts, tucking them carefully away in his pack. Once satisfied he had as much as could be safely carried out in the pack, he slung it back onto his back, shifting under the weight and hefted the trunk with the globe.

Xavier. Erideth. Grab what you can and let's get these trunks out of here. This has been far too easy and I really don't want to stay any longer than we have to. We have the GPS coordinates.. We can always come back if we choose.

The tunnel began to rumble again and this time the force was greater. There was a sound like static in the distance but they found out quickly that it was rushing water coursing through the mines.

The large man took a quick second to try to figure out which tunnel it was coming down as he stopped before a crate. He looked at Erideth and Alex, Watch yer ears... and with that he detonated the explosives he set at the openings of a pair of tunnels that he could figure the water was rushing down towards them, sealing off those caves from the main cavern.
