The guy talked to Blaine, no guns inside the space station. Blaine put his hands up, and nodded, in acknowledgement. It was fine to him. Blaine didn't need guns to protect himself, he just had them around because it made life easier for him. Of course, they had said no guns, but they hadn't said anything about other weapons. Blaine had knives, batons, and well, him, he was a human weapon. The Alliance training he had, had seen to that.

Regan watched the Alliance reception committee as they moved off along the corridor, a broad smile on his face, and a look of cold steel in his eyes. As the last of them disappeared around the corner, and the Postal Service handlers started unloading their cages, he spun on his heel and marched into the crew lounge, grabbing Kidd by the collar as he went, and dragging him backwards across the room. He threw the stowaway into the nearest chair, stamping his foot down on the seat between Kidd's legs to stop it pitching backwards. He placed his elbow on his knee, leaned forwards til his nose almost touhed Kidd's, and there was fury in his voice as he said, very quietly...

"So, whatever your name is, would you like to tell me what the HELL you're doing on my Gorram ship?"

As the Boarding Party exits, Monte steped forward to accept the documents from the postal workers, ensuring that all the paperwork was in order before showing them down to the cargo bay and indicating the containers that they needed to unload.

Well, that wasn't so bad.

He turned to the one man who seemed to be in charge and taped him on the shoulder.

"If you would be so kind as to sign our voucher and transfer our payment to this account, I'll let you finish offloading." He took the payment chit and held it to give to Regan later, then he stepped back out of their way and watched from a short distance while they shifted the large containers out the lower cargo hatch.

Arriving back upstairs, having made sure the cargo hatch was secured, Monte went to find Regan.
But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free I've got nothing but affection for all those who sailed with me

Kidd was taken aback as he was thrown into the chair. He looked scared as hell. "Look. I mean no harm. I am just broke and I needed a lift off that rock. Your ship was an opportunity and I took it. I needed to get to the Baroness to find work. I would pay you, but I have no money. I would be willing to pay off my debt by performing a temporary service for you. Key word is temporary, I don't like being stuck in one place. But at the same time, I would do it to avoid getting shot out of an airlock, or worse.." He looked nervously down a corridor where Blaine was last seen.

Regan stepped back and sat down in the chair opposite Kidd. He leant forward, rested his elbows on his knees and his chin on his balled fists, staring across. If there was one thing he'd learned playing poker, it's that every player, no matter how good they are, can only bluff for so long before they flinch. He watched Kidd, watched him getting more and more nervous, but he still showed no sign of deceit. Ok, shiny. Kidd was for real.

"Ok then. I believe you. And, like you say, you owe me for passage. Thing is, I've pretty much got all the crew I need, Layla's a good pilot, and I copilot when needed.... So, any ideas how you can pay me off?"

Kidd started showing some confidence as he flashed a grin. "Good Pilot huh? Well I am not a good pilot. I am the best there is. But alas, I have no ship to fly to show you that." Kidd folded his arms against his chest, his cockiness starting to become overbearing.

"Tell you what cap'n. Get rid of your pilot, let me fly your bird and I will accept a 50% wage decrease from what you are paying your current pilot. That is until I pay off my debt and show you how a real pilot flies a ship."

After smilingly seeing the LT and his men out, Layla had retreated to the bridge to see what could bedone for the moment to clear up the worst of the mess. She heard Reagan drag the stowaway across the room and throw him in a chair with a slight smile. She’d had things like that happen to her before too. From what she’d seen, Reagan was a good sort. The man pretty much had sergeant stamped through him.

What was it about pilots that made them all so damn cocky? Layla mentally included herself in that. She held her breath as she waited for the Captain’s reply. She was growing to like this ship, and it’s crew. Monte was a lot of fun, and not too bad on the eye either, and Isla was finally starting to open up and to enjoy herself. The only cloud was the hulking shape of Blaine. She’d seen how he walked, a guy like that didn’t need weapons to be a problem. She’d flown guys like that to drop sites during the war. What was more, she’d usually picked them all up afterwards. It wouldn’t be the end of the world to be put off the ship here. At least it was onto another ship, somewhere she could readily find more work. But if she was honest, she’d rather not have to.

The Alliance/Feds were gone, for the meantime. Blaine knew that they would be back eventually. Whether they were off on the boat, or back on the space station, they would always be around.

Blaine watched the interplay between the Kidd and Regan. The Kidd certainly had some 'tude that was for sure. Even going so far as to saying to kick off the current pilot for him to replace. If Blaine was a man who showed some kind of emotion, he would be smirking right about now. But he wasnt, so he didnt.

Regan grinned.

"The best, huh? I've heard a lot of people say that, might've even said it myself once or twice, and I'm little more than average. The ones that don't say it are the ones that usually come close to deserving the name." He nodded to Layla. "A half hour ago, she saved this ship from a collision with an Alliance cruiser after the Navcomp failed. I know she's the best. And besides that, I'm not in the habit of crapping on a crewmate just cos somebody else comes along who 'might' be better at the job. And I wouldn't hire somebody who would...."

He turned to Blaine.

"Make sure he has all his kit together before you toss him out the airlock. If he's polite, make it the airlock that's attached to the station...."

The Kidd has spunk, Blaine had to give him that, but Regan was right, people would do anything in order to gain passage or a job, sure, Blaine had heard his share of porkies in his lifetime as a Bounty Hunter. Regan also seemed to be showing some kind of loyalty to the current pilot, and Blaine couldnt see much wrong in that. Regan, Blaine refused to acknowledge the guy as Captain, whether it be outloud on in his mind, started to give Blaine some orders, and Blaine wasn't to fussed about carrying them out.

Blaine walked up behind the Kidd, and gave him a gentle push, a way of letting the Kidd know it was time to go, or at least move.

Kidd took Blaine approaching him and shoving him as his sign to leave. He stood up from the chair and started heading to the airlock. Kidd looked back at the Captain. "Your loss." He continued to exit the airlock with a huge grin on his face, not looking back.

Layla watched the stowaway leave before turning to Reagan "I sure appreciate that cap'n. Hoping you don't end up regretting it any. To that end, I'd count it as a favour if you'd let me come along to meet this contact of yours, explain why their cargo had a little shake and see if I can maybe make amends?"

Blaine shook his head as the Kidd seemingly left. Blaine couldn't believe Regan. Sure the Kidd had a bit of a 'tude on him, but still, giving the Kidd free passage without getting anything in return. It was a bad move. Afterall, they could use the Kidd on the next mission that they had, and made him work for free, afterall, there's no such thing as a free flight now is there?

Blaine felt itchy. It was weird being on a boat that wasn't his, answering to someone else. Blaine wanted to tell Regan his thoughts, but then again, it was Regans boat, and he could do with it and with the people what he wanted. Blaine just thought it was a missed opportunity and in this 'Verse, you can never miss an opportunity.

Blaine turned back round to the people inside the boat. Blaine started to walk back more into the ship. Blaine felt his guns, they would be off him when he stepped foot on the Space Station, some ruling about not being able to protect yourself or some such. Stupid rule. But then again, he still had his hand, they could protect him.

As Kidd walked out of the ship and into the station properly, he found himself directed through a flush security screen. It sparkled very slightly as he was scanned and a green sign lit up to let him pass. Clearly seen from the dock of the Rosin, it was clear that a security scanner and holding screen had been set up on at least this dock.

A clang sounded from the cargo deck as the stevedores cracked open the outer door seals. Once again the Rosin was becoming a brief bustle of life as people swarmed forward to meet her and her crew.

One of those was a station sub-manager who had been waiting patiently for the Rosin to clear the Alliance Customs and security. He was short but thin and wiry looking with wavy blackened hair. He held a big, permanent grin as if it was locked permanently on his face. He walked forward. "Captain Larsen? Can I have a quick word Captain?" He looked briefly down at his cortex PDA, identified the Captain and moved forward, holding out his hand.

"Maris Cavendish, Captain. I'm Ms Grigg's factor out here." and he gave a general wave of his hand as he brushed back a stray strand of hair. "And one of the temporary sub-managers. And the temporary assistant sub-post master as well."

After the postal handlers left with their cargo, Monte stood at the main cargo hatch and saw the burly guard escort the stowaway out the upper personnel hatch. The kid strolled off toward the security station located at the edge of the landing tube, and passed through unmolested. He nodded in satisfaction.

I wonder how that sprig got on board. Not like we didn't have enough people watching our loading...

It seemed that no one really had anything to say where Blaine was, and to be fair, neither did he. Blaine turned back around to see the Kidd going through security. Seemed there was some high tech there in order to stop guns from being taken off boats.

Blaine walked to his room, not catching eyes with anyone, or making any acknowledgments to them either. It just seemed like an amateur show on the boat.

Blaine got his room, taking out his gun case, he started to take the guns off him, and placed them back in their places in the case, all of his guns had a place, so even in the dark, he would be able to to pick out which gun he needed for a job. It was a little OCD of him, but familiarity was good, it made things easier.

Blaine opened a little drawer, it had a few hand to hand weapons. A baton, and his knife with knuckleduster handle. The Feds said no guns, but they didnt say anything about weapons. Blaine closed the drawer, and looked at his sword, it had a back mount case so he could easily carry it. Maybe it wasn't needed for the job, but it made a point to people who saw him.

Blaine wasn't the kind of guy you wanted to mess with.

Intimidation was always a good thing. Blaine strapped the sword to his back, and made sure it was in a prime location for easy access, pulling his right arm over his left shoulder in order to grab it out of the case quickly. It was.

Blaine then sat down on his bed, his feet on the floor, knees bent, butt on the bed. His hands resting on his knees, and he waited.

Blaine needed something to do.

Kidd passed through security and made his way into the bar area where he sat at a booth and motioned to a nearby waitress. He ordered soup and a drink as he drummed his knuckles on the table while looking around for any potential crew options.

Regan raised an eyebrow, quizzically.

"That's a lot of temporaries. You sure you've got time to finish this before you disappear?"

The man was starting to look confused, so Regan carried on...

"Postmaster and Griggs's Factor? I guess that means all of this stuff is for you. Hope it meets your approval?"

Miles looked a little flustered as he juggled two of several devices he had looped around his hands. "eh?" he frowned and then smiled a little. "I'm sure it will go like clockwork Captain. Most of the other posts are only temporary anyway - the, er, Alliance people have made a rather broad sweep in some areas I'm afraid. So if I want to get any work done for Ms Grigg's I don't have much of a choice. You know what they say. If you want a job doing well, do it yourself."

Miles straightened up. "Anyway, lets get the formalities out of the way. I have a deck crew ready to inspect the cargo, Captain. You'll want one of your own there to attest that they've done their job ok, unless you plan to do it yourself. Once its been checked, the Cargo's my responsibility and the credit will be checked straight into your account. Same deal with the Post Office cages except I'm the one who does the checking. And finally, I get to confirm that you've discharged cargo, hooked up and flushed out and put the docking fee in. Its a busy life, Captain."

Regan grinned.

"Well, I'd better let you get on with it. Whoever is hanging around from my crew can oversee the inspection. See Foster, preferably, he's cargomaster amongst other things, but grab who you can..."
