Sylandra arrived in the Mess as the others were moving Eduardo's limp body out, three of the girls working together to keep him moving. Arriving in the huge, well stocked medbay, the crew came across Sarah, the ships medic, and the fully covered body of their pilot, Harrison Sawyer. As the others caught sight of him, Sarah shook her head. "He didn't make it through the storm." Her attention was quickly turned to the Captain, Natasha taking the lead, and the rest of the crew members were left blind. The hull breach, according to the sensors Sylandra had been monitoring on the bridge, had been underneath the ship, most likely straight through the cargo bay floor. |

Sylandra looked down at the sheet covered form. A dark expression crossed her face and she shook her head. Another battlefield promotion for me. Ta ma de. "Tash? You want me to take a guard slot at the cave entrance? Do a visual scan of the area?" |

Harry helped lay the Captain down onto one of the large beds, releasing his grip and letting the man slide gently down. Turning away, he said nothing, eyes flicking across the room to the now deceased Sawyer and then to the door as he marched out of it without so much as blinking. He had other things on his mind. Questions, comments, ideas. The dead boy would have to wait, wasn't like he was going anywhere anyway. Leaving the medley, Harry quickly made his way across toward the other side of the ship, bracing his arms as he slide down a small set of stairs toward the armory. When he arrived he found Sia waiting outside, laden with a scary number of blades and sporting his usual manic grin. He turned from the door and motion to Harry, who returned grin with an equally as excited smile. Turning, he looked into the armory and spotted their mechanic. Just in the time too, as he threw a large automatic shotgun through the air toward Harry. Reaching out, he caught the weapon with one hand then took a few steps inside. Harry grabbed some spare ammunition, and threw the sling of a compact lSMG over his shoulder. Making his way back outside, he took the time to load and prime each weapon, before glancing to Dia. "Cargo bay." he stated with a confident nod, then made his way off down the corridor with the two armed men in tow. |

Seeing that Natasha was too ingrossed to respond, Sylandra figured it was up to her to do what she could to secure the vessel. As Harry and a couple of others headed for the armory and started equipping themselves, she waited in line. After they moved out toward the cargo bay, she reached into the stack of arms and pulled out her piece. She snagged the bag that went with it, zipping it open to inspect the contents before zipping it shut again and slinging it over her shoulder. Strapping her holster on and settling the heavy weapon on her left hip, she made a dash to the port airlock, taking only a brief moment to check atmo scan outside before hitting the access pad and passing through both hatches to stand at the outermost surface of the ship. She had already grabbed one of the personal comm units as she passed through the main corridor, and she strapped the headset on. Only 20 feet kept her from the ground, and a simple drop and roll brought her down and ready. She squatted for a moment, sighting out the front opening, watching for any disturbance. Slowly she straightened, and then walked back toward the rear of the ship, scanning the outside of the hole. Scorch marks scarred several areas; some of the minor antenna were bent or frayed from some very near misses. As she got further back, she knelt again and studied the underbelly directly under the cargo bay. |

There had been enough hands to help carry the boss, so Jenna had slipped from the crowded mess hall, or rather shoved her way through folk, towards the fire in the lower decks. The flying maneuvers had sent her sidewalking through the cargo bay, but had put her closer to the locker in which was stored the fire suppressors. If anyone had followed, she didn't notice. What mattered was getting the fire out. So, when the others began to appear in the cargo bay, armed to the teeth, she was putting out the last of the flames. The heat, while not expressly intense, had been enough to draw sweat and her tank top stuck to her. Beads of sweat ran down her arms, neck, face and chest leaving trails of cleaner skin in their wake, making the rest of her skin appear grey from the smoke. A sharp whistle from Dia was followed shortly by a rifle and then a small bag of ammo. The fire suppressor hit the deck with a resounding clang and was nudged off to one side as Jen caught both projectiles easily and went down on one knee. A quick check and prep, the bag went over her shoulder and she was following Syl out the door. "How bad, Syl?" she asked, keeping her shot up and ready while watching the other woman out of the corner of her eye. |

Outside the ship, silence had fallen over the area. There was still no sign that their pursuers had continued following the Vanguard back down into the atmosphere. Syl was able to get a good look at the damage - it wasn't space worthy, but it could have been worse. With some scrap plating it was likely they'd have the tools on board the ship to patch her up, at least for a spell. In the cargo bay, the fire extinguished, similar damage to the bottom of the ship could be noted. Fixable, but still in a bad way. The crew who had followed Harry stood by, securing the outside of the cargo bay ramp military style to ensure there weren't any nasty surprises waiting nearby. From what they could tell, there were not. |

Harry stood on a gangway which hung over the cargo bay, pointing the passing Dia down toward the ships open bar doors as the man lugged a large case of replacement hull plates. He offered the man a nod, before looking back down to the scene below. Whatever hit them and certainly done the job. Now here they sat, waiting, an action at odds to his common sense. Leaning forward on the support bar, Harry shouted down to the mechanic below. "What're we looking at Sam?" his voice echoed down to the floor below, anyone looking up would see a man waving a pistol and looking less than pleased. Harry had questions, some more relevant than others. Pushing off the support bar, he turned around and quickly made his way down the stairs to the cargo bay floor, ears open for the mechanics response. |

Sylandra turned to face Jenna. "Yeah, looks could be better, but with some patchin' we should be good t' go. Is Harry up there directin' efforts? Have 'im send a couple plates down here with a torch and I'll point out the obvious." She scooted over toward the port main cargo hatch and keyed in the access code. A squeal and grinding ratcheting announced the descending of the cargo ramp following the opening of the hatch. |

Sam, the mechanic, did a quick analysis of the situation before responding to Harry. "Mostly in a good way, luckily enough. Fire and explosive damage has torn the hull, looks like the ladies have that all scoped out." He continued on, tapping away at a notepad he held in one hand with his pen. "Engine and most of the hardware is actually online and in good shape. We could easily fly right now. Just not without the life support getting sucked out. should have what we need on board to patch her up." He gave a thumbs up to Harry above, a crooked, mostly forced smile on his face. |

Harry nodded quietly, following the mans on the spot report as he made his way down to the cargo bay floor. "Sure, lucky." he replied quickly, reaching out to either side, taking hold of the support rails, and sliding down the final set of steps. He landed a few metros from the mechanic with a loud thud, and turned to look at the man. "Fix her up then Sam. places to go, people to see, you know the drill." Giving Sam a final nod, he moved off toward the open cargo bay door, one hand resting on the grip of his pistol as he focus faded off into his thoughts. He took a deep breath of the fresh, cold air from outside and considered things. |

The cool night air remained silent aside from the ambient sounds from running systems aboard the ship. Before too long, however, crickets slowly began to chirp as if in complaint that their chorus had so rudely been interrupted by the landing of the ship. No other signs of life anywhere near the ship. Skyward, stars shown brightly. There was no sign of a ship having pursued them into atmo. |

Sylandra stood aside and watched while the mechanics pounded dents out and welded patch plates to the hole both inside and out. The crisp dusk air started to cut through her thin shirt, and a momentary chill ran down her spine. "Gorram hope this won't take much longer. Even if they didn't follow us down, no chance they ain't sittin' up there wait in' for us. " she said to Jenna, standing next to her. "Any thought on where Cap was plannin' on headin' next?" |

Harry stood at the end of cargo bay ramp silently, starring off into infinity as his thoughts moved against one another. They were in a bad place, but nothing unsalvageable, and plenty of potential in it. Yeah... He turned around suddenly and brought his hands together with a loud clap. "Mr. Samuel!" he roared down the length of the bay toward the man. "Go give the girls a hand with the repairs, we have a date with fortune." |

Jen was still keeping watch, and looked for all the world, as comfortable as if nothing major was going on but routine repairs. The only indication this wasn't the usual was the presence of the gun in her hands and her ever roving eyes. When Syl spoke, Jen glanced towards the other woman. "No idea. He didn't say anything to me about his plans. But the boss has always done things that way." Behind her, Harry's voice echoed in the ship and carried out to her. He wanted out of this spot as bad as she did. It wasn't exactly the best of situations, but they could still manage a way out of it. "Handsome's sending help. You want my hands in there to hurry things along or you want me to keep eyes on the skies, Syl?" |

Sylandra stood back up and dusted off her pants. "I'm a pilot, not a repair man. We'll let the men finish this job. I've scanned the sky but haven't seen anythin' comin' after us. But let's keep an eye out just in case." She walked back out to the cave entrance and stood, arms crossed and scanning the horizon as well as the sky overhead. |

The mechanic, a young man by the name of Samuel, strolled past the two with a heap of supplies under each arm, offering a nod to Sylandra as he passed by. Arriving at the section of damaged hull he let out a low whistle before dropping to the ground and beginning work. Back inside the ship, Harry had abandoned the cargo bay and was now headed toward the bridge. Leaving a couple on guard should the worst happen, he now found himself standing at a junction of hallway facing a wall mounted comms unit. His jaw grinded a little as he reached out and fingered the activation switch for the Medbay. "Tash, any word on our patient?" he asked, leaning against the wall with one hand now as he waited, slowly breathing, mind racing. |

While the repairs were well underway, one of the men who hadn't really made much of an impression on anyone, took it upon himself to cook a stew. Within half an hour the scent set every belly aboard a rumbling. Funny how the scent of food could make you realize just how hungry you were. Meanwhile, outside the ship, a keen eye could detect a light of some sort bobbing along beyond the treeline. Whatever it was seemed to be headed in the ship's general direction. |

As Sylandra and Jenna are standing at the cave entrance, a distant light catches Syl's eye. She reaches into her shoulder bag and withdraws the scope for her P16, and holds it up to her eye, trying to catch a glimpse of the source of the mysterious light. "There's something out there!" |

Harry promptly abandoned the comms unit and continued his path up toward the bridge. He reached the door, stepping onto the cold bridge. A warm smell of stew wafted up from the open cargo bay below, when suddenly there came a shout from the cave entrance and a light coming into focus in the distance. About gorram time. If you're going to start a fight, you may as well have the courage to finish the job. He reached out for a radio, and found one hanging from the ceiling nearby. "Dio, you seeing this?" he said via the ships internal commas, weapon in hand. |

It had been a heavy day with more yet to come. Kara had offered a hand to Sam, the mechanic, who had nodded and, on his return to find more parts, had found and tossed her a coverall. With that she had found herself lugging around the arc torch in its cradle. It was awkward and far heavier to move in planetary gravity than it had been on Coventry. Sam had cross examined her somewhat and finding that she had used at least a cutting torch, set her to cutting away the ragged edges of the gaping hole. He wouldn't trust her with the weld though. That he left to himself, leaving her to lean on the plates to hold them in the correct position. These weren't the lighter plates that made up a freighters hull - they were heavier and had a denser composition. It hadn't been enough to protect them, but it might have been enough to stop the ship unraveling from after the hit. And so she'd finished taking the scanner over every hull strut inside the cargo hold, checking for fatigue and any cracks they might have had. That had been the easy part. Now she was stuck under hull, moving around on a crawl, service light in hand and getting dirtier, tired and more peeved with every foot of hull she saw. " Chwen, How the Mi Tian Gohn did I get into this Tian Fuhn Di Fu!" She spat as the taste of ozone, still hanging around the hull, pervaded her mouth and nose. It stank! A shower of sparks showed her where Sam was just finishing off on the welding. A sharp tap on her foot made her twist her head to see the shadowy shape of someone reaching something out to her. A set of headphones. She pulled them on. "Ya there lass?" came a tinny sound through its speakers. "Like, yaa. Where the flip do you think I am!" she pouted back in that pure Londinium accent she had grown up with. Not that the unseen voice could see her or even get a proper idea of her tone through the mike. "Passing ye t'grinder. Check the seal, mak ae smooth job, ye hear? Then check it after - mak sure an it's arite." "Bugger. It can get worse." Kara slumped into the ground. She talked back. "Like, yaa. Got all that." A cable was thrust along to her on the end of a pole. She grabbed it, pulling the grinder to her. Kara slapped down her face visor, squirmed around on her back until she was pointing in the right direction and then humped herself over to where a softly glowing patch of hull showed where Sam had been working. Her cultured voice dropped into the guttural sergeant's tone she remembered from the screws. "Jing Chai. Just bloody Jing Chai." She started the Grinder and brought it onto the hull. Noise screamed through the hull, through her and on into the night air. |
