Alex raised an eyebrow. He thought he was dealing with another seasoned dealer. Now he was begining to think this girl was only a scavenger.

"Some loot"? What are you after exactly. Do you even know?

Alex hated the idea of losing this job or even simply cutting yet another person into the deal. He wasn't keen on being shot either.

He was thinking though. That was his biggest asset. The situation needed to change. That was for sure.

Guirun slowly stood up, her hands in clear view at all times, her gun lying on the floor next to her. Well if she was going to die, it certainly wasn't going to be lying down. Suddenly she started. In the gloom behind the small girl something had started forward.

Xavier just watched all the shorter folks for a few moments, gauging what his next action should be, glancing slight between Alex and Erideth. A casual mention from the rumbling man, Yeah, hair and fire... Go figure.

Erideth gave a gentle roll of her shoulders in response to Alex' question, keeping her guns mainly facing the trio, watching as the other Alex started to get up, leaving her gun on the ground.

That's the wonderful thing about unsalvaged ships. There's always lotsa stuff to haul out and make a pretty penny over. I don't have to go lookin' for anything in particular if all I want to do is go in lookin'. Thing is, if someone else is headed in...I'm pretty sure that there's gonna be somethin' nice now. Right?

She was only a scavenger it seemed, not looking for any specific score, but for whatever she could haul out. She at least seemed civil enough to talk about things, not in any rush to 'get rid of the competition'.

Petty scavenger then.

Alex visibly began to relax. The conversation was edging more into his territory. There were a few more questions he'd have to ask but he was already formulating a plan. Perhaps one that would not only not get him or his comrades shot but might benefit everyone.

Well then missy. What's your plan? I mean, where's your crew? Your tools? Do you have a ship? Surely you aren't planning to wander into a wrecked ship who's hull may or maynot be breached already all by yourself and just carry out whatever catches your fancy now are you?

Erideth smirked at being called a scavenger, she didn't refute the claim though. Instead she let one of her guns twirl in a 'thoughtful' manner, though she didn't look like her attention was wavering.

You make a good couple of points there. Of course, I could jus' take your guys ship and be off with it all. Or, if you guys take off, there's a couple places I know where I can hop a ride.

Well, at least you know that she's alone...but she does still have two guns drawn.

Alex was growing more confident as he nodded. He folded his arms though careful to makeit clear he had no intention of going for his weapon. A smirk crossing his lips as he lowered his head a bit, his eyes tilting up a bit to look at the woman as he continued.

I see. Well I'm not terribly worried about you catching a ride on my ship. However currently we are at a bit of a stalemate. You didn't outright shoot us dead so either you're not all that bright or you know you're at a disadvantage in actually salvaging the ship.

Secondly, we do have numbers on our side and while I'm sure you're good with those pistols, I doubt you'd be able to kill all three of us without taking a round or two yourself. I'm not keen on being shot and I'm willing to bet you aren't either.

That leaves us with one option. One that I think benefits us all.

I know what's worth salvaging and what isn't. I have the contacts to move such things as well. Now We were contracted for a specific artifact. A set actually. I do believe there's more to be had.

Now wouldn't you agree such knowledge would be of use? That being said I offer this.

You join us. With four, we can carry much more than one could. We complete our job and we will then sell the rest, split the proceeds, and we can all part ways and be on our merry.

He straightened up, arms still folded, as he waited for the crude counter offer that he susspected would come next.

Erideth was just as much in her element here as Alex was, but her brain was running along with her own plans from the very beginning of the confrontation. Sure, she could have shot all three, but if she wanted to do that, she could have from the safety of the trees before they even knew she was there. She smirked a little herself and said,

Well, looks like one of you's smart enough to figure things out at least...

she started while lowering her guns, but not holstering them yet. She was still watching the trio in case they twitched the wrong way still.

...I'm not looking forwards to taking on the beasties in this jungle all by myself, and even if I am itchin' to get a little bit of a scrap goin'...I wasn't lookin' forwards to gunnin' you three down unless it was needed.

Jus' so you know, I've been doin' the salvage thing...sometimes preemptive salvage...for a while, I got a good eye for things...but four arms carryin' things can get a lot more than one out. You're just goin' in there for your haul. Lets say...with your help, anything past your haul I get fifty percent of, and you three split the other fifty. On the opposite side though, I get a cut of your haul too...if I'm goin' to be riskin' my neck to help you get it.

Alex raised an eyebrow.

And how much would that be? After all we're all at equal risk here not to mention we're the ones with the equipment and the means to get off this rock.

Erideth gave a low shrug of her shoulders as she smiled towards the man,

Tell you what. If we manage to get a good haul on the rest of the goods, I'd be happy taking a sixth of yer cut. If we find nothin' else but your stuff, or very little else, you cut me in fer a quarter...you know, 'cause I'm sittin' here helpin' you get it.

Xavier watched Alex and Erideth discussing the outcome of this matter, something causing the hair on the back of his neck to stand on end though he couldn't place it. Slowly he crossed his arms while cracking his neck with a bit of a chuckle, I'm guessin' that not knowin' what we're packin' would be another reason you didn't just waste us.

He grins a bit and looks at his old friend, Plus, doesn't look like she'd be haulin' too much on her own compared to the rest of us. He pauses in the middle of his comment and glances back at the short woman, So lil' lady, what's your problem with the ruttin' Feds? Seeming as you seem to want to pop them nearly as much as I do.

Erideth turned her gaze towards Xavier at the question with an almost glare...not towards him, but towards the subject matter of the Alliance. She lifted her left gun upwards, pointing it at the sky...this causing the sleeve of her left jacket to slip down off of the cuff that she wore. If either Xavier or Alex saw the woman in their service before, this was something memorable.

Those Gāisǐ de bastards put an explosive on my wrist and forced me to do their work. I have no ruttin' love for any of them.

As the clouds gathered overhead and what little light from the moons above faded into shadows, the subtle sounds of movement in the distance started to grow. A quiet wave seemed to be moving through the outer edge of the jungle, amongst the trees. It immediately caught Erideth's attention.

Erideth paused after her short tirade against the Feds, looking past the trio and towards the woods. She paused, then looked towards the other girl.

Pick up yer gun...now.

then she looked towards Alex and Xavier.

We'll discuss this more in a moment, take out yer guns. I think we might be havin' some company soon. Spiders. Fire and bullets, they don't like 'em. Remember that.

She took a few steps towards the group, out of the trees so she wouldn't get caught from behind...

What's so terrifying about a few little spiders?

Alex did, however, draw his gun. The rustling in the brush sounded big enough to be of concern.

If fire is something we need that would be your area Xavier.

Xavier grinned at this as he pulled down his goggles before reaching into his jacket and pulling out a grenade launcher with a slightly psychotic laugh It's about time!

The big man quickly loading in a flashbang into launcher and swinging around to point the barrel towards the woods, Give me a gorram target and let's light 'er up! and with that he starts to cackle like a little giddy schoolgirl.

Erideth gave Alex a sideways glance as she turned to face more towards the trees.

Right...we'll see what you think about 'em in a moment probably.

The sound of rustling grew ever closer, steadily rising until…..silence. From the partial circle of trees around the party emerged perhaps a dozen or so small insects, no two the same and none bigger than even the largest mans hand. They slowly clicked their way along the ground, not headed in any particular direction.

Up in the trees, hundreds of darkened eyes carefully watched and waited.

Alex watched the insects as they seemngly just wandered into the clearing.

Well there's something you don't see every day. Don't usually see em so close together without fighting. Why exactly do we need to waste bullets on them?

Erideth watched the little bugs and shook her head towards Alex.

Think of those as the advance scout. I suggest we make our way somewhere defendable...like anywhere but in th' open.
