Cole was begining to see his place in things and this realization was bringing him out of the clouds and back into the game. He was the stanger here. Even people they were meeting in the street were former crew. I will prove myself to them. I'll make them see that I can be an asset." Nothing could stop me now! I can't wait to see this ship." Noticing Michael for the first time now that his head was back on straight Cole took a moment to introduce himself. It was long past due for him to greet the rest of the crew and his mamma raised him with better manners. "Hi, Cole, I am so glad to meet ya. I am hoping to help out as much as I can." Fumbling with his luggage on the ship ramps incline he clumsily shot out his hand to shake Michaels. |

Like Ian, Trina had recognized the voice of Dom almost instantly and stood back smiling softly, her face serene and in her eyes, memories. It had been a while since she'd seen him face to face and now, it looked as if he would be joining them. She'd always wondered if their paths would cross for more than the few minutes they'd shared here and there over the last few years.
Trina's smile spread a little wider and a soft chuckle escaped her. As Cole busied himself with properly introducing himself to Mike, she started up the ramp after Ian. Her head turned, gaze on Dom. "Good to see you again," her voice quiet. They had some catching up to do, but there was the job that needed doing as well. For now, the catching up would have to wait. Moving on, she joined Ian inside and looked at him, shaking her head slightly. "There aren't many souls in the verse you haven't already met, are there? I'll see the 'strays' get bunks and settled. And you should look into one of those strays," Here she glanced towards Cole, "perhaps learning to help you with piloting duties. You aren't getting enough sleep and the cat naps don't exactly count." |

A Reaver's Nightmare
|
He hadn't really considered it but seeing as how the offer was there and he'd already offered to help Dom shrugged and followed Ian aboard the old bird a flood of memories rushing back to him with the scent that was unmistakably Glory. "Good to see you again," Dom smiled at her as he reached into the breast pocket of his jacket, feeling that old comfort resting against his heart. The familiar container ready to serve his need at any time. He watched the crew interact. They were clearly not long for each other as the one who he guessed as a passenger introduced himself as Cole to the muscle. He seemed eager to please, a potential blessing and burden all at once. In the war he'd seen it often, young lads looking to impress the old guard. Most were replacements and hadn't seen the long bloody battles. More often than not they were the first to die. Good thing this wasn't the war. "Trina." He called out, releasing the grip on his luggage he walked free of support over to his old friend. It took some getting used to, walking free of a cane but the surgery from several months ago seemed to be paying off and his movement was relatively free of pain and limp. "Ne'er figured you for a shipboard doctor. When you have th'time I'd sure like to catch up. Glad to see you alive an' well an' all that jazz." He was playing down his emotions but he had as much respect for that woman and what she'd done for the war on both sides and it did his heart well to see her and in the company of a man he trusted to watch his back many times. Even if they'd tried to kill each other before. He was parched, the supposed juice he'd bought at the vendor was grainy like sand and almost as dry. Finally succumbing to his vice he reached once more into his breast pocket and dug out the bottle he kept there. Releasing the lid he tilted his head back and allowed the water to refresh his dusty throat before re-capping it and placing it back in it's home. |

Dominic Doyle. Mike recalled the name. Sometime nights got long, stories got told and Dugan shared moments from his past. That gave Becker particular insight on Dugan's history With Doyle, up to and including their current friendship. Between the old enemies and complete strangers, Dugan sure knew how to pick his company. Before an introduction could be made with him, a proper introduction was initiated by Cole. Their previous acquaintancy had been brief, so Michael offered the proper firm handshake. "Back at ya Cole," he said, referring to 'nice to meet you' element of his conversation piece. "I run security here. Toss us one of those bags and I'll show you the bunk situation." He held out his left hand ready to lighten Cole's load, leaving his right hand free and capable as he often liked it to be. Becker's subconscious mind had him turn to glimpse at Trina and company during the interval. He was unaware of her mirroring offer. |

The words of Dom had Trina blushing softly after her teasing question to Ian. Looking over at him, she nodded. "We do need to catch up. As to working on a ship, I've worked on a few. Though not always as a doctor." She'd done a great many things most that knew her even briefly wouldn't figure on her doing, but sometimes, the need to keep busy, keep working won out over finding the perfect clinic or hospital job. A voice caught her ear and almost of its own accord, Trina's head and gaze shifted to Mike. He was greeting Cole. A new smile slipped across her lips, soft, sweet and bordering on shy. As she watched, her mind recalled the earlier conversation she and Mike had shared in the shop and a faint hint of a blush returned to her face. It colored her cheeks about the same moment Mike glanced her way. Clearing her throat and moving her gaze back to Ian, she shrugged a little. "Maybe you aren't the only one who knows so many folk in the verse," she laughed softly, more at herself and her thoughts than the actual comment. Edited by Trina, Dec 18 2012, 09:51 PM.

Cole had by this time righted his luggage situation and looked up to Michael, "I've got it handled now thanks." Smiling Cole followed Michael and Trina. Cole wanted to have contact with all his bags till he had a room. Caution was finally creeping back into his head. He had a feeling of home here and hoped to be added to this ever growing and evolving crews roster. Cole couldn't wait to be shown around and when he got the chance he would bring up to the Captain Dugan about helping out with piloting this magnificent vessal. "Hey guys when we get settled in here do you think I could talk to the captain about helping out with anything. I'll do anything you all need but I am a pretty decent pilot like I was telling Trina." |

Wolfgang Idaho continues from "Every Wolf has it's day" The Prisoner Ship drifted for days, seemingly devoid of life. Multiple holes were ripped through the hull as the ship's core flickered, showing it's instability. It was attacked with high powered rounds and explosives. A red light flickered throughout the ship indicating that auxillary power was almost gone. Without power there would be no oxygen. A Silhouette of a man in chains could be seen from the flashing light. The ship drifted out of control for days, until it reached Persephone. Gravity started to take it's course as the Prisoner Ship burned wildly throughout the atmosphere. It started to break apart due to it's weakened structure. The sound of roaring thunder could be heard from the sky, drowning out even the sounds of the busy Eavesdown Docks. The rear of the ship, containing the engine and the core broke away first, causing it to fly towards a populated area of the business district. It broke through several buildings before ending up in the Rattlesnake bar, completely leveling it. The core began to glow brightly as it was about to detonate from lack of containment. There was completely silence for a moment. Then a flash of energy burst from the ship causing an explosion so powerful that it leveled everything within a 3 mile radius, just missing Eavesdown. The flash filled the sky as thick black smoke could be seen from anywhere on the planet. The tremors were so powerful from the explosion that it could have knocked you off your feet. Hundreds were either dead or injured. The other half of the ship containing the Bridge and Prisoner compartment slammed into the ground at the Eavesdown docks and skidded into a busy marketplace, further contributing to the carnage. Once the front portion of the ship was completely stopped, smoke rose from it as it glowed red from the heat. A wasteland of rubble littered the area. |

It took a few minutes for Khei to finish organizing everything on the ship's screens for ease of showing Ian everything she'd managed to dig up. I'm comin'! She jogged back down to where the others had all come in and smiled with a nod to the new faces. Shiny! Hey Boss! We have a destination. She's headed for Verbana. |

Earthquake? That was the first thing that ran through Mike's mind. Noise wasn't uncommon for a dock, but that rumble was clearly something else. Becker felt the need to abandon his task of guiding Cole in favour of investigation. He'd be surprised if the others didn't feel the urge to drop what they were doing and have a gander. Michael had said nothing, he'd simply made a jog back to the entrance ramp to see if there was anything to be gained from the sight before him. What to access first? Mike wasn't sure he'd even witnessed as much smoke as was now emerging from just beyond the docks. He had to doubt a fire could manage that, and considering the shockwave experience, he guessed explosion. Accident? Attack? More pressing was the situation before him, the ruckus before him bringing his attention to the closer event. He had to step further out from the ship to get eyes on that situation. Once he had, he softly let a few Chinese words fall from his mouth. Eyes fixated, Becker's legs slowly began taking him to the landing point. |

The shock shook the ship and Cole found himself abandoning his gear where it was and following Michael back to the ramp. Oh Gods!"Oh Gods...." The city was utter chaos and black smoke filled the air all around. Cole could see explosions pop off all over the horizon. People were yelling and crying and running in all directions it was pandemonium. Cole sank to his knees and wept. One thought in his head that tough irrational would not go away paralyzed him. Reevers! He felt the fear and the anguish welling up inside of him and he was getting ready to give in to it and shut down. On the verge of passing out Cole saw Michael walk out towards the chaos and didn't know where he was going but knew it wouldn't be safe. I have to get up! I have to help! He could hear the others moving around him but the sounds seemed so far away and so small compared to the chaos that was erupting all around him. Go go go! Finding his legs worked again he stood up and began to shuffle down the ramp. |

A Reaver's Nightmare
|
"We do need to catch up. As to working on a ship, I've worked on a few. Though not always as a doctor." Dom knew how she felt, sometimes you didn't play to your skills. Sometimes it was your body they needed. Not in any malicious way, meat shield or an extra pair of hands. Could be good, Dom always needed a purpose, the jobs that had no endgame drove him wild. He sensed that in her as well from time to time. He couldn't yet read how she really was at the moment, however with the eyes she'd made at the... meat shield. Now was not the time for their proper reunion so he simply placed his hand on her shoulder, a mark of his eternal thanks that she was still well. The way Dom viewed it, the blood on his hands was easier to live with. It was them or him. Things got much harder when it was a decision between who should live and who should die. Nobody could save every soldier that got dropped on her doorstep and sometimes one man living meant one, two, three not making it through. How anyone could make those decisions every few minutes for years called into question their sanity but more importantly showed something those people had in them to keep going, to keep trying to save lives in the face of great sorrow. That was his debt to her. To remember. He needed to get working if this ship was going to take off any time soon so he turned from Trina, his hand parting from her shoulder as he turned towards some cargo he'd noticed needed securing. As he faced fully towards the large bay doors, an immense blast of impact from nearby. It was greeted with screams of horror which were silenced at impact before again raising up with much more urgency in the moments after. His gun was in his hand before he realized he'd drawn the piece. He moved to the bay right on the heels of the man who'd identified himself as head of security, passing Cole along the way. He halted in his steps by his thoughts and jogged over to Cole. "Cole, I'm Dom Doyle. Gonna be joinin' yer crew for a spell it seems. I need a favor of you right at th'moment. I need you to secure all luggage an' guard this ship if we get drawn away. Got two lady-folk here an' we gotta be ready for lift off if'n the timin' is needed. You okay with that?" He didn't have time to wait for a response and he wasn't exactly in any position to give people orders but he'd been in these situations before and his instinct took over. They would first have to survey the danger but to him it sounded like a bomb and if Persephone was getting bombed. They sure as hell wanted to get off the rock before another dropped. "What's your specs?" Dom queried Becker, ready to subordinate to the head of security's decision. He could now see the full extent of the damage. Smoke and flame rising up into the sky not far from Eavesdown and the carnage right outside. A crashed ship. His previous stance on waiting for Becker's mark was put on hold as without hesitation he burst towards the heaping wreckage. There could be survivors. There could be something else. |

The remenants of the bridge and prisoner hold were covered in rubble from nearby shops. The window to the bridge was shattered and still accessable without having to move debris. If one were to look inside they would see blood and guts covering everything. Body parts were everywhere. Most likely as a result of the impact. Past the Bridge was a heavy steel door that was bent in half. The entire ship was eerily silent and dark as power had been lost. The only light that remained was whatever sunlight made it's way into the darkness of the cabin. <<Idaho Continues in "Every Wolf has it's day">> |

Mike had come to a stop before the forming crowd. His expression had tightened in the light of great concern as he was considering all before him. "A hella lot of chaos" Becker's head turned to the skies and the signs of a more substantial happening. "I'm thinking there could be surviv-" his head came down mid sentance to see Doyle already racing ahead of him. He would have shook his head, had he the time. "Yeah, that." Becker's second thought had consider the possibility of danger for Glory, or those now out on the docks. Who could say what had happened and what would suffice as an encore. Mike felt his hand forced however as Doyle pressed forward. He couldn't be sure whether the man was crew or passenger but he was certainly a part of Glory and needed backing up. Michael promptly followed after Doyle to get a closer look at the wreckage, the sight of which led him to start making assumptions. His biggest assumption was that this was an accident, and that anyone aboard deserved help. He moved towards the cabin to see if there was anything he could break or pry off. A quick look went to Dom. "This couldn't blow up on us or anything now could it?" |

Ian had gone from a great joy at having found a link to his old friend to surprise then shock and horror as he realized what was happening. The sounds of a forced re-entry and crash were something that lurked in the back of every captain's mind. Today it was on the forefront. As the sections hit, Ian was about to slam his hand on the Iris control when Mike stepped up to access and out of the ship. Ian shook his head. He was worried about Radition Poisoning. "Doc, set up Triage here on the Glory. Get us all Rad Meds. Khei, set up a Comm Net, use authorization Delta Mike Mike Zulu Three. We'll be primary until the Feds get here." It was at that time that the second section hit and slammed into the Docks. Shops and people were cast aside or thrown into one another. The place looked like it would as if a giant child had finished playing with his toy blocks and left them scattered. That section narrowly missed the Broken Wing and the hospital. Both places would be needed today. Once Ian received his Meds and enough for the crew who had left he turned and left as well, grabbing an emergency med kit and light. He took and ear bud to make sure he had quick comms with his ship. The bridge section of the downed craft had stopped a couple hundred feet from the Glory, it seemed the be the place to start. He passed the meds to Mike, Dom and Cole as he caught up to them. He direted them to follow him or help along the way as needed. He saw the faces of the people of the Docks, white and ashen. Some had the eyes of the lost. Others were coming around and helping their friends or sometimes total strangers. Today, we're all Big Damn Heroes!! Making it to the downed ship, pausing only long enough to make sure it was cool enough, he slid into the bridge section and looked around at the carnage. He shook his head and turned on his emergency light, activation his comm. "Glory this is Dugan, no life in the bridge section. I'll leave comms at hands free until we're out." He shook his head once more and called out, not expecting an answer. "Anyone here?!" Edited by ian dugan, Dec 21 2012, 10:43 PM.

The Glory A few moments after the ship had finished shaking, a large stack of smoke slowly rose into the sky in the distance. All of this could be seen from the bridge of the ship. Suddenly a console blinked into life, flashing an urgent message to anyone who'd see it. An image of Glory appeared in green, with four red clamps beginning to flash under the ship, below it a countdown timer. Anyone checking the details of the message would soon find out that a land lock command had been issued throughout Persephone in light of that latest 'attack', one which would come into effect in less than 5 minutes. Their hopes of ever catching Tobias were ticking away, second by second. A copy of the alert flashed across all handheld cortex devices registered with their ships. Eavesdown Docks As the realisation of what had happened slowly rolled across Persephone, it's people did what they did best. Chaos broke out across Eavesdown. Lifeless ships growled into life, shuttles rose from hidden landing spots amongst the buildings and the normal crowds which roamed the Docks ran screaming in every direction. Seeing an opportunity in what was otherwise a tragedy, some of the more questionable elements of Eavesdown crawled out of their holes to have a little fun. Intermittent gunfire broke out as these thugs began taking pot shots at Alliance patrols and civilians alike. A trio of Alliance patrol craft buzzed overhead in response, flying low over the area in a looping pattern. Screens everywhere jumped from their loops of advertisements to a warning message from the Alliance, instructing all civilians to return to the ships, homes or workplaces and await further instructions. As they arrived at the crash site, Dom, Michael and Ian found themselves moving around what was probably once a person, now reduced to a fine paste by the force of the wreckage. As Ian shouted, he received a response but not from the direction of the wreckage. "FREEZE." a voice bellowed behind them. A small unit of rapid response Alliance men moved up behind them, their weapons levelled on the armed men. A large, armoured man took a step toward them, the sounds of exchanges of gunfire cracking behind him, and continued screaming orders. "HOLSTER THOSE SIDEARMS AND RETURN TO YOUR VESSELS IMMEDIATELY." |

Khei was ignorant as to the reason behind the rumbling and shaking. She'd asdumed it was normal goings on at a dock having not bothered to look outside until everyone was running outside. She ventured a look as to the commotion and shook her head. Okay. So that's not th' norm 'round here. I thought some ol' rust-bucket was taking off. She was on her way back to the bridge when Ian gave out orders. Sure thing Boss! She was quick to save all files once before before moving them to the side to set up the comm. She responded quickly after the console started flashing. Um.. Boss? Dunno if ya noticed the alert yet but we're 'bout to be landlocked here. |

Downed Ship Ian stopped and brought his hand up, a little, just enough to be away from his pistols. He half turned to the approching men "I'm Captain Dugan. We're first on scean. No life so far." Over his ear bud he heard Khei's message. "We were just leaving. Guys, following the man's orders. Back to the ship." Ian turned and began his short trek back to the Glory Once outside he spoke again. "Khei, we're on the way. Press the Emergency Start button and the ship will skip the Pre-launch diagnostic. He looked at the others and spoke "Land lock in less than five." |

Once Ian had been given his dosage of radiation meds and taken additional shots with him, Trina had gone into full triage mode. She really didn't have to think about it, but she was moving quickly. However, when word came of the potential land lock and Ian gave Khei the order to get the engines started, Trina felt her heart seize in her chest. Having been midway through unpacking the supplies she'd only just brought on board in the last hour, she put everything back and went to the top of the ramp. Her chest hurt and she knew, just knew there were people she could save... if she stayed behind. One life... for how many? It wasn't the first time she'd asked herself the question. Asking it again brought on memories, images of wounded, dying and dead. Now those that were memories were mingling with the faces on the docks. Soldiers, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters.... Did she stay with Glory and leave behind hundreds or did she stay and help and possibly lose her way again? And if she chose to stay, would she be looking at another door forever closed? Now her father's face, angry and hurt, came to the fore. Closing her eyes, she turned away from the scene before her, but was utterly unable to turn aside the memories in her head. Slowly, she took a deep breath and let it out shakily. Lifting her cortex, she keyed into Glory's communication feed. "I'll get the medical supplies stowed, Captain." It was probably the first time she'd called Ian by his title since coming aboard and she knew her voice wasn't anywhere close to steady. Keying off the mic, she moved to the supplies and began lifting them, only realizing tears had escaped her when two dropped from her cheek and splashed against the deck plates. Angrily, she wiped them away. |

After recieving meds and orders from the captain Cole stepped up to the wreck. The bodies were in pieces and Cole had a fit of vomitting. He realized that he wouldn't be much help to the others in side the wreckage. He turn his attention instead to a hurt man who caught the bad end of some shrapnal through his shoulder. "Don't worry sir I'll stop the bleeding till the professionals show up." Cole used the mans own shirt to knock up a makeshift presure dressing and cleaned the wound as best he could with his limited knowledge. He was just about to see if there was anyone else nearby he could give assistance to when a squad of heavily armored men knocked him into the dirt and blood on their way into the ship. Cole picked himself up and was pretty angry at the senslessness of the use of force. Suddenly the crew emerged for the wreck. Cole shook his head but knew he had to take leave. This feels like murder leaving these people. Cole got back to the ship disheartened. Stowing his gear a available storage space he prepared himself for departure. He'd have to find his room later. |

A Reaver's Nightmare

Dom's rescue mission attempt was cut short by that same old nuisance that would never let life just happen. The Alliance officer stood firm, he already had his gun in hand in case survivors if any were human so to test the "officer" was well within his range but it didn't suit his purpose or speed up the rescue of these injured and dying souls so he jammed his gun back in his holster and moved away from the wreckage following the others back to the ship. Once aboard he saw Cole the young lad stowing his gear, hands covered in blood. Now he could be wrong but Dom had a sense that this might've been the first time carnage on this scale had made it's way to those hands. Regardless Dom was going to be sure he was alright. "Lad, you look a little shook. You doin' okay?" He placed his hand reassuringly on his shoulder though by no means imposingly. Inspecting his hands for any cuts. "You best get the doc to treat ya with all that blood from other people, could catch somethin'." |
