"Havoc huh."

Ian just nodded at the news. Seemed like a Tobias thing to do.

He turned to his crew. He had noticed Cole's contribution and decided to keep the barkeep happy just in case they had to make a return trip.

"One drink for each, thanks to our new pilot, then back on the street, toward the docks."

Back to the Barkeep

"Oolong tea for me please. Ok to drink it here?"

Having the drinks would also keep most peoples memories clouded by the usual bar patrons antics and stop there. Or that is what Ian hoped.

If Tobias had gone to the Docks, he'd be gone by now. Perhaps Khei had something. He pulled his PDA and waved her.

"Khei. Got anything?

A pilot... you don't say. We might be able to make use of that skill.

Cole was giddy beyond all belief. This was too good to be true. Flying a Mayfly would be fantastic. Trina was just making his day left and right and he never expected to truly be rescued from his predicament by what he imagined to be a real life angel. She was sending him through sensory overload and he struggled not to gush too much around her but also not to shy away which was his first instinct. She was a doctor too so he imagined his mothers approval. Woah! He gave his head a shake and returned from the clouds.Jeez Cole you just met her! What are you crazy! You don't even know her.
Trina

Need any help with those things? I've got a spare hand.

Cole smiled again and shook his head. "No thank you. I've been lugging this baggage with me for quite some time now. I pretty much have the load figured out." He lowered his voice like she did, "Doctor huh? That must be one hell of an exciting life."Before Trina could respond Cole heard just by chance something that stopped his breath.
Bartender

New face on the scene, calls himself Havoc, none too ironically either
At the name Havoc Cole's eyes widened. "Oh man I was here for that." He said to Trina, "That guy is the scariest thing I've ever seen rip through a bar and granted that's not saying much but I'm pretty sure the way the locals looked I'll not see worse." Realization sank in and Cole finally knew what the catch was for all his recent good fortune. Now he would be following the scariest guy he has ever seen.

The bartender turned back to face Ian and offered him an insincere laugh. "Tea? We look like we do tea?" He let another laugh rip, louder this time, and the patrons scattered around the bar looked up to join in. The echoing laughter grew, with the odd mention of 'tea' and 'gorram spacers'. Shaking his head slowly, the bartender spat to one side before adding. "Mebbe try one of them dirty spacer bazaars, love 'em some tea so they do." He let out a final quiet chuckle as he moved away from the crew, no further interest in their questions or coins.

The patrons however had other ideas. One particular drunkard stumbled to his feet and toward the crew at a slow pace. "Ya wanna yers teas? I got a teas for ya!" he declared before taking a step forward at an odd angle and face planting against a nearby empty table and rolled onto his back with a grumble The patrons roared their approval in another round of laughter and non-sensical yelling. Perhaps it was time to leave.

While the connection had been cut, Khei had still managed to downloaded a good portion of the files relating to Tobias, many of which had yet to be viewed. Perhaps further clues lay there.

Khei's PDA beeped and flashed a notice

"Message delivery failed. Retry? Y/N"

With a sneer she hit "No" and moved the files onto the ship's system to go through the files more carefully on a larger screen. Better to sift through what is useful and what wasn't before sending the information again.

She worked at organizing the files, images, and video feeds as best she could to make sense of things. Meanwhile her PDA beeped again with Ian's message. She sighed and sent a quick message.

Managed to download a fair amount of info before the hub was forced to power down. Someone was mighty annoyed about me poking about the feeds. Sifting through it all now.. I'll message back as soon as I know what the hell I'm looking at.

Khei's messaged fired off to Ian without incident as she turned her attention toward the mass of files that remained. Opening up the list of files, at first she could make little sense off the information. Some were images, other video files, and others even basic text descriptions of scenes and crowds. Whoever was watching him had done a proper job of it.

She soon spotted a pattern in the file names. Different types, times and areas of Eavesdown being marked accordingly. As she sifted through the information, Tobias jumped from point to point around Eavesdown in no particular order, like some insane, time traveling madman. She came across both the first and last images of Tobias which she'd seen before.

It was then that it caught her eye. Another file, similar location markings as the final clip of Tobias. It's timecode markings didn't match, nor did it have any matches to the scans of Bal, but she wasn't going to leave any stone un-turned. Opening it up there was no sign of him, or anyone or anything of much interest, just what appeared to be a still image of a patch of dirty ground. It seemed familiar though. A small row of icons along the bottom indicated that this was infact a video feed.

She attempted to move forward into the clip, but instantly found herself at its end. Instead she moved backwards through it. First at double speed, then faster. In a sudden blur a ship appeared from nowhere in a cloud of dust, landing sideways in the shot. In the corner of the screen, etched along the side of the hull in faded letters read the name: H O R I Z O N

Playing it forward in normal time, the ship appeared to idle in its dock at Eavesdown for a short while before taking off for destinations unknown.

Trina's eyebrows lifted at Cole and his having seen the man they were after. She was just about to speak again when the laughter in the bar started. Glancing around, she wasn't liking the looks she was seeing. She glanced back to Cole. "Be ready to leave quick..." she said just loud enough for him to hear.

Her eyes watched the drunk fall over, right into a table. Part of her wanted to help him, but she knew now probably wasn't the best time to play the good doctor. Her eyes darted to Mike and Ian as she unconsciously shifted a little closer to the two men. She also put her hands on the strap of her bag, right at the center of her chest, putting her hands that much closer to her weapon.

She was just praying they weren't going to need weapons this early in the game...

Ian just shook his head and watched the antics of the drunkard

"...And that's why I drink tea now. Last time I was drinkin I BROKE the table I landed on. And it was MY own table!

He had faced in the direction of the bar and spoke loud enough for nearly everyone to hear. He continued with a expression that was hard to read. It was also hard to tell if what he said was true or not.

"Way I saw it, I either had to quit drinkin or buy more tables. And Table are so ruttin expensive."

He chuckled and looked at the message Khei had sent. He nodded and put his PDA away as he turned around. He scooped up the rest of the change that Cole had left, leaving enough for a standard cup of tea.

"Maybe he should have a cuppa when he wakes up."

He then turned, nodding to his crew and made his way toward the door.

"Let's head back to the ship. Khei has somethin and we'll know more when we get there."

She saved the files and sent a still of the ship name to Ian with a note.

From what I can make out, our boy's been busy. You'll need to look at all this when you get back but It looks like he's gone off-world. We have a ship name though. Want me to see about finding out where she's headed?

Good Idea. Do it. Be back soon, on our way.

He tapped the Send button. He was about to close down the connection when he caught a scrolling news bulliten

From Cortex Update

He closed the connection and thought for a moment.

Wonder what the rest of the story is? Days like this I really miss Mr.Universe. Maybe someon should do somethin about that...

The Rattlesnake

The bar roared another round of approving laughter, the crash of bottles and glass sealed the deal and no further drunks dared approach the crew Some stares from the corners still continued but didn't appear too interested. Ian and his crew slowly shuffled out of the bar and made their way outside into the cool Eavesdown afternoon, a few shouts from the bar followed them.

.....

A few seconds later a silhouette emerged from one of the corners, letting out a quiet, muffled sighed as the swinging door to the bar came to a rest. "Interesting." his said with an angular nod, his voice dulled by something obscuring the lower half of his face, before rising to his feet and making his way to the bar. He silently removed a cred chip from his sleeve and placed it on the bar. He made his way to the door, paused at the exit for a moment, then slipped out into the light. His clothing seemed dated, his eyes covered by a single, curved piece of reflected glass, the rest of his his face unseen behind some sort of mask. He briefly lingered at the door, seemingly staring straight ahead, before he disappeared off in the opposite direction.

Eavesdown Docks, Persephone

They weren't far from the ship, catching sight of the ships prow only a few minutes later as they rounded on one of the large bazzars which jutted out onto the docks. It was an impressive sight, especially for those seeing her for the first time. As they made their way through the crowds toward the ship, groups of passengers roamed before them, quickly looking up to the ships before glancing at their destinations and moving on. As the crew approached the ship, Ian found her exactly as she'd been left.

Cole sat still dazed by everything that was happening to him so fast when the bartender lashed out at the captain.
Trina

Be ready to leave quick.
He was on top of this particular situation because he had done this particular bug out many times in the past weeks sitting in this crazy bar. Watching Ian nonchalantly deal with the aggressors Cole was amazed at his cool.

Cole laughed out loud at this but stifled it short to try and emulate that cool demeanor Ian was showing. Shortly after this Cole left the Rattlesnake for what he hoped was going to be a long time.

He walked near Trina but didn't crowd her. He still had no idea how to talk to women let alone accomplished ones like a doctor. Cole was just thinking about Trina's beauty when he caught site of the Glory. My God I might get to fly this wonderful bird. With this thought in mind he tripped over a rock and managed to catch himself before he fell face down in the dirt. His eyes never left the ship in all her Glory.

She nodded at Ian's message and connected to the Cortex, this time without the hub. The information she was looking for was likely not anything that would be secure. She simply entered a query as to public logs of departing ships and their destinations in the previous 24 hours.

She wanted to keep the search vague to avoid prying eyes as it were as she looked for the Horizon on the list.

It was with no small amount of relief Trina felt as Glory came back into view and the rougher 'neighborhood' was left behind. As the group walked, she reflected on how Ian had handled the situation in the bar. She hadn't really know Ian all that long, the only real interaction prior to being crew that they had shared was his injury, but she was impressed with how he'd handled things.

She noticed something as they continued on and took a sidelong look at their new face, Cole. He was sticking pretty close to her and inwardly, she couldn't help but smile. When he tripped, she instinctively put a hand out to catch him if he fell. "Careful there."

He kept his footing and a smile played across her face. Not once had he taken his eyes off of the ship. While it was amusing, it also brought up some concerns, but as they were in relatively safer grounds, she shuffled those concerns to the back of her mind. They would eventually need to be talked out, either with Cole himself or Ian.

A Reaver's Nightmare
Thick tendrils of smoke and ash burst from one of the food stands planted quite intentionally in the middle of the flowing blood of Eavesdown. Todays special was a burnt mystery meat of some kind, didn't really matter what it was. For some a long travel meant something a lot different than it did for others. Food was food. Life was life.

Blood is a vessel.

As his teeth sank into the crispy burnt on the outside bleeding raw on the inside
concoction of previous disrepute and suspicious content of the vendors product, Dominic envisioned a new world where he never ever had to learn what he actually just ate. Food was food.

He ended the clog in his chest by draining the remainder of his drink and forcing the mystery special the rest of the way down before he himself unclogged the artery of Eavesdown and re-entered the stream.

It almost felt like home the amount of times he'd seen this same flow of the vital life of Persephone. The yin and yang of legal and illegal dealings had brought him here on multiple occasions fighting for both yin and yang. Sometimes the black and white didn't cover it. Sometimes it did. In this incarnation, grey interceded the yin and yang a rift forming a path.

Faith was the only light in times like these. Not faith in any particular thing but simply for the sake of it. There was a reason they were here now and their paths crossed. Nothing was going to stop him in this endeavour now. His hand slid down his side, inconspicuously reaching around the steel grip. He watched the pepper hair of his target through the crowd, locked on he began to move through the crowd keeping in range but out of surveillance range. Undetected he closed the gap. The pepper hair was now accompanied by the salt of it, as the distance became imminent.

By the flow of traffic and the relative proximity he judged his objective to be accompanied by at least two others maybe more but the numbers made no difference. Nothing much did in the grey. He could see in the distance, the destination of his target was now in range. Commitment was becoming imminent. Tightly fingering the grip he came to a parting in the crowd, it was now or never. Stepping out into the open he inhaled deep while pacing towards his fixation.

"Dugan." He called out to the man not five feet away from him. Finally releasing his hand from the steel handle of his luggage hauler he extended it to the Captain of the legendary Glory.

Ian had led the way and Mike had held the back to make sure everyone got out of the bar safely. It was surprise that they managed to avoid physicality, but Becker was always happy to count his blessings. Once out of the bad side of town he caught up with Ian to see the information they had and throw around a few choice comments concerning Tobias. They were closing in on something, but Mike was starting to become unsure of what that was.

Amongst concerns there was Cole, getting pretty close to Trina, as close as could be when he tripped over and nearly found himself in her arms. Becker hadn't got the level on that man yet, and as much as Glory was about forgiveness, she'd seen her fair share of betrayal. A cortex check was on the cards.

Dugan.

Becker turned to see the man reaching out for the captains hand. A new acquaintance it seemed. This ship was filling up slowly but surely, if that was his business here.

He listened to the banter between his crew. He watched the crowd and inhaled deep the scent of the Docks. The sour smells of foods intermingaling with the sour oders of man.

The scents of flowers dancing with perfumes, he wondered which was stronger

He shook his head as he watched the ebb and flow of the human, animal, and machine traffic that made up the press of the tide that was here at Eavesdown. He was once and always a soldier. He always expected an ambush.

Today was no different

He was not surprised when it happened.

What he didn't expect was the who.

The moment the man stopped moving, Ian slapped leather and steel flashed in the noon day sun.

"Dugan"

Ian eyes grew wide as he looked back over his shoulder.

"I know that voice..."

He had been facing away from his assailant, gun to his chest.

Just as quick as before, steel flashed again in the light of day as the pistol he had drawn was returned back to his hip.

He spun around, his coat tails spinning around him as he did.

"Dom Doyle, as I live and breath. You are a sight for sore eyes."

His hand came away from his side in a smooth motion to grasp the extended hand.

"What brings you this far coreward? Last I heard you were headded to the Rim to find your fortune."

It had been a few years since Ian had seen the man before him. He still remembered the day he left him for dead on the battlefields of Verbena, near Hablong.

Cole was so fixated on Glory, Trina wiped from his mind in the ADHD that is youth even as she tried to catch him, he barely noticed the newcomer. He thought that the Glory was just about the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. His smile widened as he thanked the Gods, for he believed in bits and pieces of all of them, for his luck in meeting this great group of people who he was without knowing it putting his blind trust knowing none of them for more then a hour.

The newcomer, Dom, seemed a nice enough fella and the Captain seemed to know him so Cole in his youthful naivety began to let that trust encircle this stranger who he only knew for a second. Cole was setting himself up for trouble with his inexperience. We all have our trail by fire.

After a few moments searching, the ships name appeared in a long list of 'en route' vessels. THE HORIZON was shown in orange on one side, it's designation in red on the other. It seemed to be one of dozen ships which had departed the previous day, most of which seemed to be headed Rimward. This particular ship was headed to Verbana.

"Dom Doyle, as I live and breath. You are a sight for sore eyes… What brings you this far coreward? Last I heard you were headed to the Rim to find your fortune."

"Well fortune findin' kinda takes ya all round the 'verse don't it?" He quipped with a wink as he relinquished his hand in due time as he peered over Ian's shoulder to his crew. He'd already noticed Trina when he was tracking them through the crowd, what were the odds she'd be in with his old friend and foe. He would make time to talk to her before they went their separate ways but for now Dom sensed a slight urgency in Ian's tone and opted to save the pleasantries for later. For now he nodded at her then turned to Ian once more.

"What's your situation? Eyes have t'be pretty sore to wanna see a bloke like me." Despite the deadpan sarcasm his inquiry was sincere, he couldn't help but wonder what the lad had gotten himself into this time. Dugan would know to take this as an offer of help.

He had taken a roster of the rest of the crew while re-acquainting himself with Dugan.

One muscle in tow.

Tall, world weary. Didn't have the same eyes as a soldier, convict more likely. This wasn't his first jump out the airplane, not that anyone did such moon brain things any longer.

The other male was a thin piece of leaf. Packing but not someone Ian would be likely to trust backing him up. By the dress he guessed passenger, maybe pilot. Or maybe Ian was playing at being a tour guide.

Then there was Trina, she spoke a lot by her presence. It meant Ian was still running decent, she wouldn't be in with anybody doing the wrong things. It also meant she was needed, Dugan ran with some pretty rough circles from time to time and having one of the best doctors in the 'verse in a woman who saved plenty of soldiers on both sides of the war at great risk to herself. It also meant there was a good chance Ian could use an extra hand unless there were more crew not present. Nobody with engine grease on their hands so there was likely at least one more crew member. Not a very heavy crew in this line of work.

"What's your situation? Eyes have t'be pretty sore to wanna see a bloke like me."

Ian smiled his not yet patented crooked smile, the one he got couretsy of this man before him. He sized Dom up as he knew Dom was doin to him and his crew.

Standin tall. Nice ta see. No trimmers, no shakes. Been off the bottle a good spell ...

"Well, as it is, we're lookin for a old friend. Goes by a new name now. Calls himself Tobias Hawke. I'll tell ya his old name once we're aboard. If yer interested in some more adventure. I can promise a place ta rest yer head and food ta eat as jobs come.

He paused and turned toward his ship, stepping on the ramp as he spoke again

"Come on up and give me your answer inside. If your needin a place to stay, these doors have never been closed to ya since the first time you were crew, and never will be while I'm her Captain."

He paused once more at the top of the ramp and looked back.

"You guys comin?"

He stepped into the ship and hit the ship's comm.

"Khei, we're Hooooommee!"

He made a face and started laughing.

"Sorry about that. Seemed ta be the thing ta do at the time. Needless to say, we're back and will be needin a Sit Rep soon as ya can. Picked up some strays so dont be too hard on 'em"
