Khei nodded, content with whatever plans were laid out. Being the rookie of the group she felt it best to listen and learn. Only one question came to mind, however.

Ran into trouble and is hiding out.

She repeated it quietly as she thought about it once more before speaking out.

So we know he's still here? I mean. I'm not second guessin'ya Boss but most folk woulda been off world in a heartbeat if'n the trouble's bad enough t' need t' hide out. Right?

Ian listened and nodded at Mike's suggestion.

"Good idea Mike. Just leave off what Gil might be looking for him for."

He thought for a moment on Khei's question.

"Based on what the Lucien's man was able to bring up in such a short time, the space ports and ships are being watched. A man of Bal ... Tobias's stature would be noticed. But stranger things have happened, that's why I'm gonna call it at supper time. We dont find him then, we leave a message and head for the Black."

Trina considered what everyone else had to say on the matter. She'd been thinking much the same as Khei had been, figuring that Bal... Tobias... would have probably either gone to ground or put as much distance between himself and the trouble he was in. Pursing her lips in thought, an idea came to her, but she wasn't sure she had the means to try it.

"It's a shame we can't access some kind of retinal scan..."

She hadn't really meant to say it out loud, as she was really only thinking aloud. If they had access to the retinal scans and someone knew how to access the surveillance systems the Alliance used, it could help in the search. Upon realizing she'd actually spoken aloud, she looked around at the others.

"Sorry, just thinking aloud," she smiled sheepishly.

"Actually," Becker interjected, picking up on her idea, "Khei's a cortex wizard as I understand it."

"Maybe she can tap into the places we're not supposed to tap in." An look of curiosity went to Khei, searching for for an answer as to whether or not she was capable. Mike was unaware of her skills, further unaware of her magic that was worked back on Baroness.

"Those eyes won't hurt our operations. So long's we aren't caught doing it."

Khei nodded to Mike. He was right but she'd need a little time to get her new computer running to do it right.

I could. Sure. I'll need an hour 'r two t' finish my computer an' get all my backup files reinstalled t' do it right. I mean th' place is crawlin' with security cameras right? might be better than lettin' everyone an' his ma know folks is lookin' for him. Might give us a head start anyway. An' if the mirror hub's still up there'd be less chance of gettin' caught.

She looked to the Captain as if waiting for orders.

Ian pursed his lips in thought as he listened to Khei. She had a point, as Ian knew very well having been trained in hacking and Security measures by the Alliance.

"Ok. Change of plans then. Khei, continue as you suggested. The three of us ..."

He pointed to Trina and Mike.

"... will do our walkabout until lunch."

He turned back to Khei.

"Be sure to piggyback on someone elses signal. We're not the only ones smart enough to think of using the Alliance Systems for our own purposes. AS for Tobias knowing someone is looking for him ... I want him too. Might bring him to us and save even more time."

He smiled a hard smile at that. One that did not reach to his eye, but was just there. He cared for Tobias' welfare but did not want to get taken.

There was more than a little surprise in Trina's face as the offhand thought seemed to blossom into a full blown plan. She really hadn't expected the idea to pan out, but Khei seemed to think she could manage it. Hopefully, it would help cut short the search for Tobias and get him to the Glory quickly and safely.

She was fine with doing the leg work, as it was nice to walk around and people watch after being on a ship for a while. That and Trina was still hoping to pick up a couple fresh food options for the crew that hadn't been provided by Lucian. Even if she wasn't able to, she would eventually find a way to do it, perhaps further down the line.

"Do I need to pull his medical file for the retinal scan, Khei? Or will you be able to get it?" It was likely if Khei was as good with the cortex as it was sounding, she wouldn't need the help getting the scan, but Trina really couldn't see not offering to help however she could.

Khei nodded.

Sure thing boss.

She started to head for her bunk when Trina spoke up.

Sure if ya can. One less bit of info I'd need to track down. Speed things up for sure.

She smiled again and bounded off to her bunk to get started, finishing her new computer.

"Useful little thing ain't she," Michael said whilst displaying a smile as she scampered off to fix up. A moment or two after she was departed, Becker tapped his hands on the table and raised from his seat.

"Well let's get to it, start knocking on some doors and see what stirs." Mike was keen. A few minutes wouldn't hurt, but Becker was beginning to feel a sense of urgency concerning Bal. It was most likely brought on by the prospect of just waiting around.

"We can get to it once you've found that file." He smiled at her and hoped he had encouraged her to get to it somewhat swiftly.

((OOC)Takin Captainny privledge and movin the story along a bit.)

Once outside Ian led the company of companions into the borrow that was the Docks. He had a capture of Tobias in his more quiet days aboard the Glory and presented that to the barkeep of the first place they ended up at ... the Broken Wing Tavern.

Having located the file Khei would need, Trina had dropped it off to Khei and was now with Ian and Mike out trying to find someone who'd seen Tobias. Based on the man's file, he was probably one of those people who'd be hard to forget. He was likely one of the tallest men Trina would ever lay eyes on, if they ever found him. As Ian approached the barkeep, Trina looked around for any other staff of the Broken Wing they might be able to question.

"If I'd thought about it, I'd have asked the clerks at the shops Khei and I stopped in for our supplies. Maybe we should swing back by after we finish here." She wasn't really speaking to Ian or Mike specifically, but both of them.

"I almost thought about pulling out my guitar and parking myself at the end of the ships ramp to play, possibly draw a crowd you two could question. Maybe if we start running short of options, we could try that later when we go back to check on how Khei is doing."

Khei had only given Trina a nod, smile and quick "thank you" when she dropped off the file before hurrying off to join the others to make their rounds on foot.

She had been surprised at just how quickly she was able to finish with her work. She smiled to herself as she looked over the two, nearly identical, handhelds.

THIS time I have a backup, ready t' go.

She nodded to herself and connected both PCs together to run installations simultaneously to save time. Once she was convinced everything was installed she ran system checks and double checked her new security programs. Within a span of just under two hours she had completed her work.

She connected to the ship's system and downloaded the file for Tobias from there before returning to her bunk and inputting the information from the file Trina had left her.

With all the info she had available now loaded, she started trying to connect to her trusty mirror hub on Ariel to connect to the cortex and hack into the security video feeds, searching for anyone who would match the retina scan, facial recognition systems, or even just a man who was freakishly tall.

She made use of the second computer by having each attempt to run through different sets of feeds.

Now where are ya' pal?

As a matter of habit, the man behind the bar stared at Ian, the photo and then his own feet, before looking back up and shaking his head. "Nope." he said plainly, before looking to the other end of the bar where another customer had a shouted an order. He then strolled off and busied himself with a whiskey. The rest of the bar didn't look too co-operative either, most of them glancing from their drinks to each other. The particularly loud, drunk at the end of the bar received his drink and once more became silent. The barman returned back over. "Must be some popular fellow though, yiz are the second buncha folks in here asking today."

The Glory

Tobias' files ran silently in the background of the first machine, cross referencing against various security feeds from the thousands of millions which dotted Persephone, in other words, it was going to take a while. Meanwhile on the second, Khei had started a little closer to home, localising the search to the docks and shipyards.

The minutes ticked away silent before- a quiet beep from the first machine was heard, a soft glowing 'MATCH' listed on the right hand side, beside a set of figures. Eavesdown Docks, High Point Overwatch Feed, only 24 hours old. The image showed watch could only be the shadowed figure of Tobias, frozen mid-step and headed toward the Merchants quarter aka the Black Market. In the background, the search continued on both machines.

Khei nodded with a smile. She had something to show for her work. She hoped to find more. Meanwhile she copied the information and saved it to the data banks of the computer while it continued the search parameters

She opened a second connection to contact Ian and send over the info in hopes it might give the others a better idea where they might find Tobias if he was, in fact, still worldside.

Once sent she closed the apllication to allow maximum capacity for the search.

Ian had the lead on questioning so Mike was just lending support, keeping an eye out for anything that might require an eye to be kept out. He was mostly casing the joint and working out people, looking for something to help him. But he was no Sherlock. His expertise was on the back burner until such a time called for it. As Dugan worked the room, Becker held closer to the door with Trina.

"Wai-wai-wait." His urgency in cutting her off was shown by the fact he only pronounced the interrupting word in full once. He turned to Trina, a slight grin on his face as he tried to access what she had insinuated. "You're telling me that you play guitar? The ability to play an instrument was something Mike associated with talent and persistence, both worthy skills.

If Trina was being serious, he was impressed.

"Wai-wai-wait. You're telling me that you play guitar?"

There seemed to be some surprise to her mention of playing the guitar and Trina smiled, her head canting to one side. She really hadn't played that loudly on the trip from the Baroness to Eavesdown, so she really shouldn't have been surprised that he hadn't heard it. At first, she just sort of shrugged and shoved her hands into her pockets.

"I've played since I was young. Mom thought I should be involved in something artistic and she used to play acoustic guitar music to put me to sleep. Well, that's what she said she did. When I was a baby anyway." She shrugged again.

"Now my singing isn't really all that fabulous, so I tend to just play rather than torture folks with my singing." Her smile grew into a grin and Mike had her attention for a little longer before her eyes strayed back to Ian. They were just close enough for her to overhear the man behind the counter.

That didn't bode well. Not at all. Trina shifted her weight, smile fading a little. For now, she waited with Mike for Ian to rejoin them or motion them over.

As the barman spoke, something buzzed quietly in Ian's pocket. A message from the ship, the details of which contained one of the last known whereabouts of Tobias. The co-ords were only a few hundred meters away through the crowded docks, into less desirable country.

The Glory

With the message send, both machines were back on task, searching away. It wasn't fast or fun, but it sure beat trying to smoke Tobias out. As Khei checked one of the search feeds, the other screen seemed to freeze for a second, before returning an message.

///POSSIBLE MATCH FOUND

On screen, a small thumbnail showed a partially covered pair of eyes, beside which one of Bal's old retinal scans lay open. Unfortunately it was a time lapse still, the feed itself and it's stored files remained locked, for now at least.

Khei squinted at the screen and nodded. Possible match. It was worth checking out.

She began running her, now upgraded, programs. She allowed the search to continue in the background while she worked at hackng into the system to unlock the feed and related files.

Lessie where you lead me then.

Upon attempting to access the file, the screen darkened slightly as a security popup faded into view.

///ERROR - ACCESS DENIED
ENTER SYSADMIN LOGIN KEY

For some reason this particular feed had been locked at a higher level than the others, despite it apparently being just another local screen-cam. It was going to take more than a brute force hack to follow this trail. In the background, her programs showed a routine query from source of the file which bounced off her Ariel server harmlessly.

Khei smirked and cracked her knuckles.

Ah. A challenge! Now.. Lessie if we can find out why yer so special. Shall we?

It had been a while since she last tackled higher class systems like this one. She began running the system manually as she worked at pulling up the source of the coding itself. She needed to find out exactly where the feed was being locked from, who's signature was on it, and various other tidbits that would enable her to access the feed.
