Ian looked over the report and even stopped at one photo of Tobias at the War Memorial of Hablong Trenches on Verbena. It was a grainny shot of him flying sidelong and inverted through a roaring fire attacking Boosch when she and the Slavers Draco had hired attacked.

It was part of what became known as the Second Battle of Hablong. There were so many memories piled up from that place, both good and bad.

Of that night, Ian remembered it well and showed Mike the photo. He wonder what had happened to most of his crew back then, like Antwan Song for instance. The Singer turned Sniper turned Singer seemed to have vanished from the 'Verse.

Having had Tobias as crew, Ian knew most if not all of the older factlets. The Treason didn't phase him in the least.

Khei inhaled deeply. The smell of old circuit boards, wires, processors, and the like just sitting there, waiting for someone to come along and give them new life. It was a smell she never grew tired of.

She set to her task, sifting through what, to most, would look like junk to find the parts she needed.

Hmm.. What do we have here.. Hmm. G-35MX Motherboard! Perfect! Hey.. here's a QTP Mauk 6700 to. Never can have too many spare parts. 5 inch Intuos feather touch screen. Old but no cracks. It'll do...

She rambled on with each part she found that was of use to her, using the skirt of her over-shirt to hold all the parts she was selecting. After a good 20 minutes, she had finally finished her selection and made her way to the counter to pay.

Anyone here? Just wanna pay for all this stuff so we can be on our merry.

Khei had taken off so quickly, Trina was left standing for a moment, still holding her cortex link in a mild state of surprise. After a few moments of internal debate, Trina followed and darkened the door, just watching the other woman. Realizing she was probably blocking the door, she moved in and off to one side.

The various parts and bits were things she'd probably seen, some of them anyway, when various ships panels were opened or machines opened, but none of them made any real sense to her. Nor would she have the slightest clue where any of them might go. Granted, if she had a diagram, Trina could probably figure it out, but she wouldn't be able to tell anyone what a particular piece was for without a huge amount of help.

So, she stood near the door, keeping watch and exercising a practice that had long been taught to children where she'd grown up and was apparently passed down from Earth that was: the buddy system. Of course, some military folk used another name for it: leave no man behind, and Trina had no intention of just wandering off and leaving Khei.

Mike looked at the photo with immediate recognition. "Oh yeah. The day you had all the fun." He jogged a pretty important memory from Michaels misadventures on Glory, easily a top five in life experiences. He looked to Ian in search of recognition, and if he didn't see it he would drop a hint. "I was stuck on the ship with a ticking clock situation." Someone always had to watch over Glory and on that occasion it had been him. He would have considered himself out of trouble were it not for the bomb that had been planted at one of the ships entry points. With a little help from Ian and a little guesswork, Mike had managed to be here now recalling the tale.

Back to business, Michael addressed the man. "Got anything we can follow up on? Somewhere he stayed before he went dark? Someone he had contact with maybe?"

Ian looked over at Mike with an Oh Yeah!! look that indicated he just filled in a peice of a puzzle he had not realized he had been looking at.

"You did have your own bit of fun that day, you're right."

He was quiet as Mike asked his question and echoed his agreement with a nod.

What Ian had thought was just a simple pick up was now a Lost and Found Pick Up

He was the Captain of the Glory and hadn't really expected anything less of the 'Verse afterall.

The Broken Wing

Mr Sackhoff just smiled at the two men during their quick exchange, raising an eyebrow to Michael as he posed the question.

"Indeed. Otherwise, my purpose here would be quite obsolete." He seemed very happy with himself as he dug through the papers before them, quickly finding the one he was after. He passed it to the pair across from him - a clipping from a hard copy newspaper, the kind one would pull from archives. It was dated a day earlier and the short, nearly detail free story was about some kind of gangland massacre.

"Our friend popped up on the radar yesterday. There's blood on his hands, too. The locals are looking for him in relation to this." A photo plastered to the article showed a fancy looking restaurant surrounded by police and special forces vehicles. The details claimed that several dozen men and women had been killed, all with ties to an underground gang that had been 'running' the Eavesdown district for years.

"Apparently the fella' that your friend killed was in charge of some heavy smuggling. He had some highly sensitive goods on their way here and so security was tight. Nevertheless, they were all just blown away." He gave a small chuckle, leaning back in his seat.

"That's all the leads I have. I've got some reports from eyes on the street that our guy, this Hawke fella', was seen around the Docks last night. But nothing's popped up on the relay, so I assume no one of importance has spotted him. My guess is he'd be getting off planet by now. That's how most hitmen work."

General Store

The clerk to the store, a young man in his early twenties, appeared in a doorway at the back of the store, his eyes wide and his hands hastily buttoning up his un-ironed shirt. When he saw Khei, and then her companion standing outside the door, he seemed to relax a little and gave a smile.

"Sheesh, I'd expected the boss man was back or something..." He trailed off, walking to the counter and eying off the armful of gadgets Khei had selected.

"Quite the little party you're having, eh? I should be able to set you up with a sweet deal." He'd stopped buttoning the shirt now, giving a sleazy smile as he logged onto the console at the counter.

As Trina peered around the store and out to the bustling street beyond, she'd caught sight of a small establishment that might very well be the kind of place they could stock up on medical supplies on the cheap.

Ian stood and taking the material provided, nodded first to mr Sackoff then to Mike.

"Then I think we best get started. Good day Sir."

He offered his hand and took his leave.

Michael had chosen not to reveal his thoughts on Tobias at the table, he waited until that politely excused themselves and he had Ian's ear. A handshake was offered to before retreating.

As he walked beside on their exit, "so I think the question becomes, do we really want to find Tobias." There was still a sense of unfamiliarity as he pronounced the name. "Hitman?" He shared voicing his main concern. "I mean, who knows what he's into now. That kind of thing needs an alias."

Mr Sackhoff readily shook Ian's hand and collected the bundle of papers together, leaving them for Michael to take. With them, he left his contact details and took his leave with a smile and a nod.

((OOC) Sorry guys, was going to come back and add more to this but RL rose up. Was gonna have Ian take the papers but had to post quick or not at all)

As they walked, Ian hit his forehead with the heel of his hand.

"Mike! Sorry about that man. I was gonna take that stuff. Just lost my head in the Black for a minute."

He took the photo's and card from Michael and listened as he voiced his concern.

From Becker

"so I think the question becomes, do we really want to find Tobias. ... Hitman? ...I mean, who knows what he's into now. That kind of thing needs an alias."

Ian thought for half a moment.

"That dont mean much. I have several. If Bal is in trouble, we owe it to him to help. Whether he wants it or not."

As they left the Broken Wing behind he added more.

"What else is family for?"

He smiled his crooked smile.

Becker smiled back, having expected such an answer. "I was just checking."

As the too made it out of the bar, they stopped and took stock for a moment. "Well I figure we got a lot of avenues to follow." Mike looked backed to where the docks resided. "A scouting of the docks might not be a bad idea, if he is looking to get out of here." It didn't end there. "Then there's people to talk to, places to check out."

Mike looked back to his captain. "Since this just turned into an investigation, maybe we should bring the girls in on it. All hands on deck."

Either way it would be best to apprise them of the situation. And so the two began surveying the area and looking through shop windows for their fellow crew.

Khei smiled in return as she spread everything out neatly to be rang up. She eyed the man warily. Ignorant as she was about many things, she was far from stupid and she half expected him to overcharge everything.

Somethin' like that yeah. Never can have too many spare parts, I like ta say. So what's the damages?

The Broken Wing

Ian nodded and led his old friend out of the bar, their contact promptly disappearing into the crowd. They were only a few minutes walk away from the ladies at their electronics store. It was further down by the docks, not far from where the Glory was docked, that the information office for the Eavesdown docks was located. If Tobias had logged himself onto a ship, or the name had been dropped amongst crews in the area, it would have been recorded.

The General Store

"Not a problem, not a problem." The attendant started punching numbers into the console in front of him, smiling the whole time. The store was quiet otherwise, an odd contrast to the busy rush outside.

"Ok... I think I should be able to sort you out for those bits and pieces for a solid ninety five Creds. Sounds fair, don't it?" Again, that sleazy smile.

Khei raised an eyebrow at the sleazy looking man behind the counter. The price was much lower than she had expected which, in of itself, was enough of a red flag.

Just 95 creds? Mighty good deal. What's th' catch? Stuff ain't hot now is it?

She feigned a chuckle and a smirk. As serious as her "joke" question was she wasn't keen to start trouble here.

The smile, the price and Khei's surprise at it all put up red flags for Trina. Keeping her relaxed stance, she shifted her weight, turning slightly to look outside briefly. The glance was long enough to notice two things: the captain and Mike were already done with their meeting as they were just outside the Broken Wing and the shop she would need to hit for her supplies.

"Looks like the captain is just about ready to go," Trina spoke, raising her voice so that the clerk would hear her as well as her eyes moved back to the counter, focusing on the clerk. She side stepped to the door and pushed it open, turning her attention briefly to the street in front of the shop.

The move would make her visible to Mike and Ian and still kept her in the store with her crewmate. It also let the clerk know that the two women weren't alone and would likely be missed if they took too long and that their captain was obviously withing sight of the shop's door.

The clerk just shrugged the question off, taking the bundle of odds and ends from Khei and preparing them in a cardboard box.

"Hot? Hey, hell no. We might not be the shiniest, lady, but we're legitimate." He sounded almost defensive, quickly loosening up again when he realised. He looked up when Trina spoke, clearly unaware that she'd been standing back there.

"So, we got a deal? Cash only, 'course..." That was the kicked.

Can't say no t' a deal like that.

She rummaged through her pockets, pulling out notes here and there until she had the 95 credits on the counter. She had learned such tactics back on Ariel. Acting as if you had little to no money on you made it much less likely to be mugged.

There we go.

Mike soon spotted Trina and gave a wave before he and the captain headed over.

Becker held himself outside the store, allowing Khei to wrap up her business. He also took a moment to look Trina up and down, exaggeratedly so, so that she would surely take notice. "I'm shocked. Where are the bags and bags of shoes and what not?" A look of curious perplexity would break out into a smile in time to reveal how serious he was.

"Anyway, me and the captain have some news concerning our task. Turns out it's not as simple as we expected." He paused. "And we already expected unsimpleness."

As Mike and Ian approached, Trina moved to stand just outside the door. The look Mike gave her had her furrowing her brow and looking down at herself, worry springing into her mind that she had somehow put on something that might be stained with blood. When she realized he'd gotten her, a grin spread across her face and she laughed.

"Shoes? I've never really understood the fascination with having too many shoes. So long as mine fit comfortably and will last a while, I only need the one pair. As to the bags of 'what not', well, I did have a few things I needed to pick up outside of medical supplies, but nothing girly, if you must know." She tossed a wink Mike's way before looking back to Khei and the clerk.

"Anyway, me and the captain have some news concerning our task. Turns out it's not as simple as we expected." He paused. "And we already expected unsimpleness."

That had her looking back to the two men. "Actually, based on what you two had been saying about our... friend... I really wasn't expecting it to be overly simple. If anything I expected it to be highly interesting, to say the least." Trina thought it best to follow Mike's lead and not mention names, and while the job had probably gotten a lot more interesting than had been anticipated, the smile that had appeared on her face still lingered. "Seems like I might have been right."

The remark and the wink got a single syllable of laughter from Becker, and a brief temptation to a make a remark about 'girly things'. He held off though, and with a smile on his face he followed Trina's eyeline to see Khei wrapping up her affairs at the pay area. It seemed troublesome to share explanations twice, so he would wait on her before he or the captain shared the situation.

"Interesting is definitely the word for it. I figure we all just became detectives." He let that idea bounce around Trina's mind for a moment. "We'll elaborate when Khei wraps up her Business."

"What about you, anything you need to get to or are you clear to help out?"
