Inside the shuttle, having made Sonya as comfortable as possible, Cyrus Jones got to working over her. He was limited to the bare minimum of medical supplies in his first aid bag, but he did his best. As the old man was setting up, he called up to the cargo bay, directing his thoughts at no one in particular.

"Someone can fly this thing, right?"

The charges that 'seph was setting, in the bridge and engine room alike, activated small, glowing red lights to announce that they were armed. There was no turning back.

"I'm more of a find things and unlock them sort of girl."
"If you can figure out what to do with them I guess I can help you. I'm kind of a fast learner"
Saren picked up a few charges and walked towards the comms system on the wall.

"Uhh Val.. We're not too sure how these work. How do we set the charges up?" She spoke with all haste. She knew they didn't have much time, and she didn't want to waste what little air they had left.

Saren turned back to Jenna, keeping up with her urgency, "Gather up the charges, we're gonna have to do this ourselves." She started to inspect the charge that laid in her hands, awaiting a response from Val.

Joseph pottered around the engine room, glancing about and wondering the best place to lay the charge. He ended up guessing, attaching it to the celling above the engine, then another against the back wall. Better safe than sorry. Behind him, the Comms unit burst into life once again, he turned his head and looked across the room with a sigh. Why couldn't Corso have had some gorram radios?

He took a deep breath, and quickly slid out of the awkward position he'd ended up in underneath the engine, making his way to the panel by the door. Pressing a finger against the switch, he internally recalled his own crash course in explosives.

"Rule number one, don't drop 'em. Rule number two, remember rule number one."

He took his finger off the panel to stifle a small grin, a old laugh fighting its way up, defeated at the last moment, then clicked the switch again.

"Setup is simple. Pull the adhesive strips on the back of the charge, stick it to whatever you want to clean up, and make gorram sure it's secure." He paused, instinctively looking over his shoulder at the charges he'd placed himself. They were secure, right? He shook the thought from his head and returned his attention to the training.

"Once you're good, just clip a detonator on and turn the ring on it counter-clockwise. Either way actually, doesn't really matter with these yokes." Indeed, the charges and their detonators were crude at best, perhaps even mining charges from some border world excavation, leagues away from the explosives he'd seen in use back on Persephone, at least in terms of quality. The results had yet to be seen.

"Once that starts glowing red, smile in knowing you've done the job, then get the hell out of there before something goes wrong." With that, he clicked the switch off once more and moved outside the room, sealing the door behind him.

Everyone seemed to be working off the shuttle, it was only Remy, Jones and Sonya onboard the shuttle. Remy had finished packing the shuttle with as much of the crates as he could. It was filled with all their stuff and the crates, with just about enough space for the rest of them to fit into it. If they were going to get off the boat, and seemingly blow it up, then it would make sense for them to take as much as they could. Remy then had an idea. Remy ran out and made his way to a comm link

"Hey, would it be a good idea to take parts from the ship that wont be used? We could always sell them and make a profit from them, something tells me we'll need to make some money wherever we're going" he said simply

If it was one thing he knew how to do, it was make money. It seemed very materialistic, but who knew where any cred would be coming from next? There were six and them, and they were seemingly in this together, how long could they survive on what they had collectively together? Some extra money wouldn't go amiss

Joseph finally relented and smiled contently to the empty corridor. This just might work. Might, of course, best not to count your chickens before they'd exploded. Still, there was certainly enough fuel for the fire. Making it out of this free and alive was seeming more and more possibly with each passing moment. In other words, Joseph was patiently waiting for the other foot to fall.

He'd placed a few charges randomly, where he thought structural beams might pass behind wall panels, the kitchen area, but honestly had no real idea what he was doing and only had the one charge left now. Himself and last new buddy headed down the stairs into the cargo bay.

With his smile already out and beaming, he was sure he was displaying just the right amount of pleased to the folks there. Shuttle had been fitted up real nice with as much of the mysterious vials as they could carry. He wasn't too sure where that was headed, never was one for medicine or sales.

Returning to the moment, he made his way to the shuttle hatch and leaned down. The final charge stuck to its surface and the adhesive solidified within a few moments. He attached his last detonator, armed it, and grinned. "We all good to go?" he asked the cargo bay, looking around to see who remained.

Cyrus, with little to no experience in the matter, had taken a seat at the helm of the shuttle and started what he thought was the ignition sequence. The engines came to life and the console screens started spewing out information. As far as he could tell, everything was as it should be. Or, in layman's talk, there were no flashing red lights.

"If ya'll taking some salvage with us, best do it quick. I think we're ready to fly off this wreck."

"It sounds easy enough," Saren said, after Val had given them the directions of the explosives, "but I don't trust myself to do a good job." She moved towards Jenna, taking the explosives out of her hands. "Maybe we should just wait until Val gets back. I'm sure he's already put more than enough up."

Saren made a start towards to the hatch in the cargo bay, and picked up the sheet off the ground and wrapped up the remaining charges. "These'll come in handy later..." she muttered to herself, continuing towards the hatch.

The cold started to settle even deeper in Saren, and a wave of worry had quickly hit her. They needed to get off this boat, and fast. She quickly jumped into the shuttle and found a seat close to Cyrus. She felt safer being around him, and she really needed him now.

Saren was in the shuttle, and she wasn't leaving it until they were on solid ground. She rifled through her things and found her father's pocket watch. She held it tight to her chest, and awaited their departure.

Joseph shuffled awkwardly where he stood, watching Saren and the rest of them make their way into the shuttle. "Shiny." He shouted down to Cyrus. Finally, off this wreck, soon to be back on the hard deck. He once again fought off a smile and turned his attention to the situation at hand.

"Alright folks!" he shouted, suddenly appearing a little taller. "Everyone down the hatch. We are leaving." He roared to the now empty cargo bay. Anyone not inside the shuttle was about to get left, and it certainly wasn't going to be on his head.

His left hand disappeared into his coat pocket and rooted around for a moment, before returning victoriously with the detonator unit. This was going to be fun. He glanced about once more, then took a step forward and dropped straight down into the shuttle, landing with a loud clank of boots on decking.

Finally, he reached up with his free hand and pulled the hatch closed, a small light switching from red to green after a few seconds. Joseph turned to look the length of the shuttle, a cosy fit for them all. "Take us out Mr. Cyrus. Places to be, things to do."

Jenna gladly let Saren take the charges out of her hands she was starting to shake and was getting worried that she was going to drop one and blow off her foot or something.

Jenna just nodded her head and pulled her arms into her sleeves. “Yah sure I’m allergic to getting blown up so waiting would be fine with me.”

After standing around for a little while Jenna wandered back towards the shuttle and looked for a place to sit. Soon she would be back on the ground and it couldn’t be soon enough for her.

Ignition sequence complete. The words flashed red on the main console screen as the rest of the diagnostics turned green. The small shuttle was ready for launch. Their destination; Verbena.

"Hold on, kids. It's been a while." Cyrus mumbled the words, releasing the locks on the small vessel and giving a nervous glance to the others before applying the thrusters. A minute later, they were well clear of the Red Dawn, the deep expanse of The Black opening up before them.

"Let's hope this planet is as close as we expected, huh?"

Joseph held on tightly to an overhead handrail. It slowly began to heat up as the thrusters behind them flared, quickly revealing itself to be an exposed pipe. He shifted his stance and placed himself firmly against one of the stowed crates.

In his left hand, he held detonator, his fingers rapped around it tightly, his eyes quickly moving from it to the other end of the shuttle. He took a few steps forward, awkwardly moving around the stowed crates, and into the 'crew' section of the shuttle.

Making his way between two of the seats, he leaned up against the frame of one of the port side view-screens. In the distance, the Red Dawn sat motionless, a slowly shrinking block of colour in a sea of twinkling black.

"Fireworks in five." he announced in a particular showman like voice, his grip on the detonator shifting as the switch on its surface was moved into an active position. The faded letters of 'ARM' glowed into life, flickering for a moment before holding steady. "Four."

At three, he pointed at the ship in the distance with his right hand, shaping it into a gun aimed at the Dawn. Unable to hide his excitement, Joseph beamed contently out the window. "Two."

In his left hand, the final switch marked 'FIRE' was clicked. In his right hand, the mock hammer of his thumb fell and his hand jerked in fake recoil of the shot.

There was no sound, but the shuttle shook a little moment after the detonation, confirming that at least one of the charges Joseph had planted had detonated as planned. And one would have been enough.

With a quick scan of the console in front of him, confirming that the one hulking mass behind them for now multiple, Cyrus gunned the engines and gave his drinking buddy a nervous look. He said nothing.

Joseph had watched patiently, the micro-seconds between the detonator trigger clicking and the following explosions. A point of light had briefly glowed from within the aft of the Red Dawn, shinning brightly for a moment before fading. A moment of disappointment began to set in as Joseph unshielded his eyes, but a secondary explosion from within the centre of the vessels soon raised his spirits.

The shuttle shook slightly as the shockwave hit them, and Joseph turned to look at Cyrus. "Not bad for twenty minutes work." he said, apparently chuffed with himself, then noticed the less than confidence filled look on their new pilots face. Shifting his weight, he moved forward between the rows and seats and up behind the man.

"Like flyin' a bike eh?" he asked with a small grin, before quickly adding "Just point her at the flat stuff and don't forget to hit the brakes." and finishing with a single, deep grunt of a laugh.

Remy ran out of the shuttle, grabbing what pieces of equipment he could carry which he thought would make some money, wherever they were going. When he got back, they were gone.

Remy watched as the ship blew up, no sound was made, and it was even more real to him. They were on the run. Before they had a ship to ground them, now they didnt, all they had was a shuttle, and others bits and bobs to sell, maybe they could get another ship? Maybe they would just make life for themselves wherever they landed.

It just got real.

Remy sat down, trying not to let the gravity of the situation get him down.

Silence fell over the shuttle as the abundant silent of space filled in around them, Cyrus guiding them towards the planet that was now looming in sight. The interior was cold, the oxygen low, but they were definitely going to make it planetside before any extreme measures were required. Punching a few buttons in a trial-and-error fashion, Cyrus pulled up a map of the planet where they were headed. A metropolis was the nearest landing destination - legal landing destination, anyway.

"So... what's the plan?" The question wasn't directed to anyone in particular, the oddity of it and the situation as a whole really striking home tot he old man. He just gave a glance to Saren, wondering if getting her involved had been such a good idea. Then, looking over his shoulder from the controls, he looked at Sonya's limp body int he back of the ship. Where was all this leading?

Joseph had crossed his arms and drifted off into himself a short while before. Yes, he could nearly see a way out of this mess, if he could only get in touch with the right folk.

Slowly but surely, Cyrus' question filtered through the layers of conflicting thoughts until out of nowhere, he offered his opinion. "Largest city on this rock within range, land us a few clicks outside, we'll walk from there."

The crew went silent as time flew by, the near-silent hum of the shuttles engine and the gushing air conditioning systems the only thing slicing through the silence of the Black that engulfed them. The planet, Verbena, came to greet them promptly, and the next chapter of their adventure was soon to begin.

Looking back on the journey so far, Cyrus was more confused than anything. A quiet drink. that's all he'd wanted. Instead, he'd made new friends, clearly he made new enemies (of the law enforcement variety), he'd met up with an old acquaintance, and now he was piloting a small shuttle away from a ship that the group has blown to pieces. All for what? Why had things gone so dark, and what was to come?

Only time would tell.

As they began their descent, lights started flashing on the console. Cyrus swore. They began to gain speed.
