"What do you mean 'What's it gonna be' Cyrus?!" Saren panicked towards him, standing up off the ground. "Can't we get this ship moving? Sonya surely has to wake up soon...' she trailed off, knowing full well her questions were foolish.

Decisions, decisions. Saren had to act quick if she wanted to make contact with the ship that was just about to be out of their reach. The shuttle seemed to be their only choice. For all they knew The Vanguard could be full of thieves and murderers! There it was. Saren had made up her mind, and she wished everyone would be on the same page with her.

"The shuttle" she spoke to Cyrus, "Its our only chance of getting to Verbena." She stopped then and thought. All they needed was something to fix the engines, and there was no way they could just leave this ship floating in the black. "What if...what if only a few of us goes to Verbena and the rest stay here?" she said staring straight at Cyrus. "You need to take Sonya, she needs help. Maybe you could take Remy or the little one. They'd know what we'd need for the ship!" Saren said confidently, wrapping her head around the situation.

Joesph had then walked into the bridge, and her eyes darted to him, and started to repeat what she had just told the old man. "What do you think?" she asked with a smile, "is this a plan or what?!"

Joseph had arrived on the bridge to find Saren running her play by play past Cyrus, which the old man seemed to nod along with quietly. In the pilots chair lay Sonya, now unconcious. He looked to Cyrus and raised an eyebrow momentarily, but said nothing. He remained silent, taking it in and internally weight the odds of Sarens plan. Two ships, two chances of success, on paper it seemed great. But with one of them crippled and hunted, and the other being short range at best, hope had quickly faded from his thoughts.

"As plans go, I've heard worse." he said with a nod, finally chiming in when pressed for a response. "I'm all for leaving, sooner rather than later mind you. But no one gets left, that's just a death sentence." In more ways than one. Say they didn't freeze or starve to death waiting, and that no opportunists passed their way, then no doubt the Alliance would soon be about. They knew his face and he theirs, so keeping them within arms reach, or at the very least pistol range, was preferable.

"I've no idea how we made it this far, but we've got our exit strategy sorted. One shuttle, plenty of room and no one about to stop us." A simple plan really, head straight to Verbana, loose a level of notoriety, then just disappear into the mixing pot population which covered ever habitable world from Core to Rim. Just another face. While thinking this Joseph had moved from the bridges entrance toward the co-pilot console once more, resting one hand on it as he began to speak again.

"Ditch the ship. Cover our tracks. Stay alive." He unconsciously drummed his fingers on steel service as he stated his points, his intense stare moving from Saren to Sonya, then finally to Cyrus, with a quick glance toward the exit for good measure. "Now is not the time to catch our breath, not here anyway. We need to keep moving."

Remy was checking everything he could find, he searched everyone of the crates that Jenna could open, vials, thats all there was. Vials, of this, whatever it was. Remy couldnt find anything else, apart from stuff which belonged to the former captain. Remy breathed out loudly, he was frustrated. They were pretty much dead in the water, and if it was time to get any Karmic Favors then it was now.

Jenna talked to him, to maybe search the shuttle.

"Its a good idea, but I wanna check everything out here before we move on" he stated simply as he carried on looking.

Thats when he heard Sarens voice over the comms line. Remy looked for Jenna, but he wasnt there, he had heard her mutter something, but honestly, he wasnt paying that much attention, his mind was on finding the coil they needed to survive. Remy started to panic, when he saw a light from the hatch, going to the shuttle. Remy walked over to the hatch, peering into it, he heard movement. Seems that the little one had climbed down the rabbit hole.

"Little one, we need to go back to the Bridge, we're needed" he said, it echoing through the hatch.

Cyrus nodded as the plan was laid out in front of him, Joseph arriving a midway through and throwing down his own two cents. The old man agreed with it all, staying silent for the most part. After a long pause, however, he spoke.

"We best get to work then. Can't risk getting stuck here. Let's hope the shuttle's fuel is enough to reach atmo." He gave a half hearted smile to his young companion, then return Josephs glance, before finally moving, crouching down beside Sonya's limp body.

"Give me a hand?" AS he and Joseph prepared to carefully hoist her up, another thought played on the old mans mind.

"That cargo down there. We were going to deliver it to someone, somewhere, with the Captain. Think there's anyway they could tie us to him if they don't get the drop off?"

Once Jenna was able to find the light switch she realized that she was going to need some time to look through every little space.

She started looking around when she heard Remy's voice from up above:

Quote:

Little one, we need to go back to the Bridge, we're needed".

"What now?" She mumbled to herself. "Can't the world leave us alone long enough to figure things out and get somewhere safe?"

It took several more seconds for her to lower the ladder and come back up. She looked at Remy and nodded her head. "Alright lets go and see what's going on."

Joseph exhaled quietly into his hands, warming them slightly. Seemed the ship was getting colder, at least to him. He shook some more life into himself and nodded to Cyrus. "Good idea, take as much as we can carry." Not nearly all of it, but enough to lower any suspicions as to it's whereabouts. Not always the smartest idea, bringing the likely stolen goods with, but they certainly weren't running for smartest crew in the Verse this year.

"Right, we've things to be doing." he spoke with a sigh, moving across the room to aid in Sonya's retrieval. Moving to the other side of the old man, he took one of her arms and brought her to standing height. "Come on." he added with a nod toward the door.

The pair moved toward the door quickly, before stopping at Josephs request. He looked over his shoulder to Saren with a small grin. "Oh, and before I forget, you couldn't do me a quick favour?" He poured a bit of charming into the 'quick' and held his smile. "That wasn't the only secret door on this here ship." His eyes moved from Saren as he spoke, up toward the ceiling, then down along the walls before finally resting on the floor below them.

His gaze rose back to Saren, they would have twinkled if they could. "Find me an armoury."

Cyrus shook his head at the request for an armoury, but he remained silent as the pair moved out of the bridge, Sonya's limp body swinging between them. They were quite fast, all things considered, and arrived in the cargo bay a minute or two later. The young girl had already opened up the shuttle hatched, the ladder leading down into it now extended for the group to use.

Cyrus came to a halt beside the hatch, his eyes probing the abundance of crates surrounding them, and gestured to Joseph. "You go down and I'll lower her in." He then turned to Remy and the young one; this was clearly the first they'd heard of Sonya's condition.

"She'll be 'lright... just need to get her down there and I can take a look." His eyes then moved to one of the opened crates.

"Anything interesting?"

Saren watched the two men pick up Sonya and carry her towards the cargo bay. Before they had left the bridge, Joseph turned around and spoked to Saren.

His gaze rose back to Saren, they would have twinkled if they could. "Find me an armoury."

What was he going to do, once she had found the armoury? Saren didn't have enough time to sit and ponder. She started to feel the chill of the ship, just as Joseph had a few moments ago. Their time was running out.

Saren made her way out of the bridge and started looking all along the ship's walls and floors, ducking back and forth between them.

"There's gotta be something..." she muttered to herself, quickening her pace. She needed to find something, and soon.

It wasn't necessarily an armoury, but the small compartment was hidden from prying eyes, that's for sure.

Joseph and Cyrus disappeared into the cargo bay as Saren's search began to extend to the bunks. The only one that seemed to have been used - most likely by the late Captain Corso - was a mess of linen and clothes. A small compartment beside the bed was quite evident, though - a small bedside table had been pushed aside, as if someone had recently accessed it. The compartment was shut, but unlocked, and inside was exactly what Saren had been told to search for.

A few rifles, handguns, ammunition, a first aid kit, what looked like grenades, and small square packages wrapped in cloth that Saren assumed to be some kind of explosives. A small fortune of gear on the black market and definitely more than a lone smuggler needed by his bedside.

Saren had scoured all along the walls and floor but had came up with nothing. Her search continued on towards the bunks, moving anything that could be out of the way and searching underneath everything. It wasn't until she had gotten to Corso's bunk, when her search had came to an end. She started to rifle through the strewn clothes hanging everywhere, until a bedside table caught her attention. It had been moved, and below it was a hatch. "Bingo" she exclaimed.

Saren started to rummage through the weaponry she had found. An assortment of firearms, explosives and a first aid kit. She started to take everything out of the compartment, and noticing straight away there was too much for her to carry. Saren looked round the room, and grabbed a sheet that was hanging off the bunk.

Saren quickly placed all the items into the sheet and tied it all together, slinging it over her shoulder and taking in the weight. We're gonna need all of this, she thought to herself, keeping the thought of dropping it all and running for the exit out of her head.

Saren made her way out of the room, and walked as quickly as she could towards the cargo bay. "Boy oh boy, do I have something for you, Val!" She cried out the moment she got close to the shuttle's hatch, and dumped the makeshift bag on the ground.

Remy was about to respond to Jenna, when the rest of them seemed to come from behind them, holding up, Sonya. She was limp, and they were carrying her. Jones said everything was alright, as they lowered her into the shuttle. Jones talked to him

"Just vials of this liquid, no idea what it is" he stated to him simply.

Remy started to try and help lower Sonya into the shuttle. It seemed that they would be leaving the ship, Remy was just in the mindset of doing what they needed to do to survive.

Remy turned around to see Saren turn up with a bed sheet full of weapons. It reminded him of his own stuff. He would have to leave most of it, because it would be too much to carry and it was obvious time was of the essence. But he saw his sword in the distance, he ran quickly, putting it on his back in its sheath. It had sentimental value, real sentimental value. Remy wasnt gonna risk leaving it onboard, and he made his way back to the group.

Saren watched Remy run and grab his sword, and triggered a thought of her own belongings. "Ta ma duh", she exclaimed, "My bag!" Saren, then instantly, turned around and dropped her head into the shaft of the shuttle and cried, "Is anyone's things left on the ship?! I'm going back for mine. There's no gorram way they're being left behind!"

Saren rose and made a start back to the bunk she had left her bag in, and kept an eye out for anyone's things she could bring back with her. Saren jumped down to the bunk with all haste and collected her bag in no time, keeping in mind that time was of the essence. Val was planning to do something with the ship, and Saren didn't want to stick around and get a front seat at the show.

On her way back to the shuttle's entrance, she noticed Cyrus' large duffel bag was lying near the crates full of vials, and proceeded to scoop it up with her free hand, continuing her way down into the shuttle.

"How 'bout you get your show on the road?" she urged Val. "I don't want to be here longer than we have to."

Joseph nodded to Cyrus, shifting Sonya's weight to the man and climbing down into the shuttle, while the old man spoke to Remy. A cargo of liquid filled vials eh? Corso had struck him as the drug smuggling type, but times were hard and creds were creds. Every man had his price. He shook his head and reached up to help the unconscious woman down into the shuttle. As soon as she was seated and secured in one of the rear seats, Joseph once again rose up the ladder back in the cargo bay.

He was greeted by an excited Saren and what looked to be a blanket full of war, or at least, everything you'd need to start a small one. A grin started to grow on his face as he picked the outline of each rifle, sidearm and explosive apart and began to start an internal list of items. It would do very nicely. His gaze returned to Saren with a fresh smile. "This will work." he said, stifling a small chuckle before reaching down to pile.

Explosive charges, detonators and a small, hand held trigger unit with the half faded letters of 'Arm' and 'Fire' on its surface. Clearly Corso had also been a man for explosives. He removed these from the pile carefully, his face flush of emotional as he calmly gathered his tools. Powering up the trigger, each light glowed a dull red momentarily, before he flicked it back off. He nodded to himself, and placed the thing in one of his coat pockets.

Reaching down, he gathered a few of the charges and looked to the assembled group. "These are our getaway tickets. Ain't no-one looking for the crew of an exploded boat, dong ma?" He paused for a few seconds, waiting for the idea to sink in, before continuing. "Engine room, bridge, fuel stores and anywhere else you think could do with some redecorating." Looking back to Cyrus, his pointed toward the cargo crates. "What about this precious cargo? No way we're fitting it all in that shuttle."

Remy looked shocked, it seemed that they were going to blow up the ship or something? That's what he got from Val's comment. Remy decided that he was going to get the rest of his stuff. If they were coming back, then he would have left it, but it seemed that they weren't. Remy came back in time to hear Val's final words.

"I have no idea what is it this vials, but there's lots, must be some kind of vaccination or something, maybe we can take what we can, try and sell it?" he stated simply

While he wasn't a great fighter, or thief, Remy knew how to make money. And without a ship, and on a random rock, they would need all they could get their hands on.

Nodding along, arms full of high grade explosives, Joseph grinned a little. No idea, probably a vaccination. Hell, they could be carrying the next intergalactic plague for all they knew. But the kid was right, bargaining chips were few at the moment, and unknown vials could pretty much be sold as anything, especially out here so close to the Rim. "Right, then pack up as much as you can."

He looked back to the rest of them and then down to the charges. "Now there's only one of me, and dozens of these." Joseph shook his head mockingly at the explosives, before looking back up at his fellow escapees. "Any volunteers?" The question was followed by a short sigh as he placed all but two of the charges on the ground before them, and walked off toward the front of the ship, work to be done.

Faster they were rigged and the shuttle packed, faster they were out of harms way and onto the next catastrophe. He headed straight for the bridge, calm for the moment, but a little excited voice inside, barely containing itself.

With Joseph off planting the charges, Cyrus had managed to lower the limp body of Sonya into the small shuttle and prepared himself for launch. He'd pulled her to the back of the three room shuttle, placing her on a cushioned cot in the back amongst the other 'sleeping' space. He'd offered no thoughts on the vials, nor the explosives - things had escalated far beyond his comfort zone, and right now all he wanted to do was leave this death trap.

Around them, the ship was becoming colder by the minute. The cargo cases holding the vials, too many to count, were quite manageable in weight. Depending on what else they planned on taking, they could probably safely stow away 3 or 4 crates of the stuff without impacting their personal space on the shuttle too much.

Remy started to put his stuff away into the shuttle. He took pieces of other peoples stuff and started to place them all together, trying to conserve space in the little shuttle. Remy then went out and started to fill the shuttle with as much of the crates of vials as he could. The crates were manageable by himself, and he placed as many as he could.

Remy was trying to make himself as useful as he could be.

Saren started to get a little excited over Val's plan. She'd never blown anything up before. She wanted to help put the charges on the ship, but she didn't have a clue on what to do. She looked around to Jenna and asked her, "Have you ever used these before?", whilst picking up one of the charges off the floor.

Just after Jenna had repiled, Saren felt a chill run down her spine, and shook it out like a wet dog. "We gotta get going if we wanna get out of here with air in our lungs" she exclaimed, starting to pick up a few more charges.

Just arrived on the bridge, slowing his pace as he neared the pilots console. Reaching out, he placed a charge flat against the starboard wall, hoping to do as much damage whilst also making it look at least partly normal. Ships blew up all the time, right?

He clipped the detonator above it, switched it on, then turned away to admire the view. Between the flicker of distant stars and internal reflections from the navigation panels, it was certainly a fine sight. He subconsciously coughed into his hand, waking himself from the momentarily stupor before returning to the task at hand.

The door to the bridge sealed s**t with a load crack and short hiss. Onto it, another charge was placed. Good luck recovering this old wreck when we're done with it! His childish smile reflected back at him through the viewport, as he armed the charge quickly.

Nodding to his own reflection, he turn turned, making his way back down the length of the ship. Hopefully the others had been as productive. Or should that be destructive? He'd leave that to the Grammar Feds.

Instead of heading toward the cargo bay, where no doubt some heavy lifting was going down, work which he had never in his life signed up for, Joseph turned off the beaten path, and made a line for the engine room. If an explosion were to take out a boat, it would likely start there.

Jenna shook her head. “I’m more of a find things and unlock them sort of girl.” She picked up one of the charges and took a look at it. Not quite sure what to do with it she placed it very carefully back on the floor.

“If you can figure out what to do with them I guess I can help you. I’m kind of a fast learner. Jenna looked at Saren. She was starting to get that sick feeling again like something was about to go wrong she just wasn’t sure what.

It took Jenna a second or two but she realised that it was starting to get cold. She pulled her arms into the sleeves of her sweater.

“Yah no better time than the present.”
