"We met when I stitched up a wound of his on his leg. I put in the stitches, made sure there'd be no infection and never saw him after that. Well, until today."

"What a way to make a first impression." Mike raised his eyebrows as a way of shrugging, accepting the circumstances quite easily.

Trina

"How long have the two of you known him?"

"Oh I've worked under Ian for several years." There was a pause and Mike tilted his head slightly as he conceded a thought. "On and off." Between playing babysitter for a good friend planetside and seeing Glory grounded, Becker had taken spells away from the ship. "But I've spent most of time on Glory."

Another thought struck him and his eyes widened as he perked up. "That's the ship by the way, did he mention that?" His look was doubtful. The captain had been in a rush and Trina seemed at a loss in terms of information. "We need a doctor for the ship." Michael was immediately considering that she may be unaware of this and uninterested in serving aboard a vessel.

"We need a doctor for the ship."
Trina risked a glance towards Bruno, a smile playing over her lips as she recalled the last thing she'd said to the man behind the counter about his getting too good at finding jobs. Her eyes looked back to Mike as her smile grew. "Actually, Ian mentioned that you might have an offer for me. I took it to mean you were the captain," she chuckled softly.

"Forgive me the misunderstanding, he was in a bit of a rush. As to hiring on as a doctor, I'd be happy to, seeing as he still seems to be getting himself into scrapes. I'm a far better doctor than I am a hired gun and Khei here probably has me beat hands down when it comes to computers. I can work with software, but I can't fix the machines that run the programs."

Noting that the woman had been rather quiet, and that her clothing was clinging to her, Trina was hoping that the conversation wasn't making the other woman feel excluded. Though by the look the woman had given when she introduced herself, she had seemed rather content to let Mike do the talking.

Mike wished he'd picked up on the misunderstanding, he could have had some fun as 'the captain.' He reciprocated the smile as she explained her mistake. A chuckle at the mention of Dugan's scrapes, he was current sporting a juicy bruise on his forehead.

"Well a doctor's always appreciated, 'specially in this line of work. I just hope your bedside manners up to scratch." He smiled again. As far as bedside manner went he expected to find out. The manner of his job saw a whole lot of painful trouble come his way.

Becker had also picked up on Khei's quiet manner, and felt bad about her third wheel role every time it came to mind. He had an idea to turn the tide.

"How about we check out that ship then?" He addressed Trina mainly, figuring she'd have interest, but he saw something in it for each of them. "I've been meaning to grab my stuff from storage and stow it on board, about time I got to that. And Khei..." He trailed off before deciding to address her rather than reference her. His thought concerning her stirred up an element perplexing concern.

"Well... Don't you wanna change?" She had appeared strangely complacent with her dampness.

Khei forced a smile. She needed a shower and change of clothes somethin' fierce. She expected that she wasn't exactly smellin' like a rose either. Not that you could tell inside the bar.

A good shower an' change would be quite welcome 'bout now, yeah.

She knew that sooner or later she'd have to explain how a simple trip to the restroom could end up with her looking like a drown rat, smellin' 'bout the same, and devoid of her computer. She just hoped she could explain it later, away from the station, and Freddy.

Africa Chamberlain had worked a double shift. Re-plating outside the station, a quick lunch and then back out again. She'd heard no reports of blockade or news of any sort. The pay was nice, she'd over spent on clothes and needed to refresh her mad money.

She exited the ship's crew quarters into one of the food courts. The man with the card game was nowhere to be seen. Earlier Africa had been fascinated by the game he was ...running. Even though people knew it was a trick of some kind, they lined up and tried to beat him at his own game.

The idea that fascinated her was how they continued to want to be next to lose their hard earned cash. A few actually won some, just enough she was sure to bring on the next player. It was incredible, a show beyond the fancy live stage magic show she'd seen on Santo. Completely unscripted. The man conducted the small crowd like a well practiced symphony.

Africa smiled at the memory, she'd hoped to talk to him. But for now, the greasiest burger known to the five stars. She only hoped it was still open, nothing else seemed to be.

Bruno looked over at Africa as he continued wiping the table in the empty bar. "Over sleep?" He said sarcastically as he looked over at her.

Africa looked to man, "Double shift." she smiled in a simple friendly manner. "I didn't realize anything was going on." The smile a little larger, "I should have known something was up when they offered triple time instead of double for the second shift." She'd have taken it anyway. The blockade meant nothing to here except for the nearly closed down station.

She was in her usual pleasant good mood. The exertion of the shifts had left her feeling full of life; the richness of hard work and the promise of more good things to come.

"Here, on the house." He slid her a mug of Ariellian Ale.

"Not like it's going to break the bank."

She didn't usually care for beer, bought she was to polite to decline the kind offer. After a small sip, which she held in mouth to savor the flavor she said, "hmm, vey strong."

"I was hoping for one of your famous hamburgers, with everything please." Africa looked around the deserted concourse, "I've never seen it like this." Her eyes meticulously drifted to the silent vid display behind Bruno, up on the wall. A news show was highlighting the devastation of Verbena down below. The horror of it made her want to reconsider eating.

Bruno chuckled to himself.

"Sorry the grill is shut down. Had to let the cook go for a few days since there was no business. Who knows when the blockade will be lifted. We are expecting a shuttle soon though with passengers."

Africa half feigned her disappointment with a light groan, "Fiddlesticks. So what can you put in the micro-oven?" she looked behind the tuxedo clad man, spotted the big jar.

"Are those real eggs?"

Bruno looked back at the jar of eggs. "Nothing real here. All hydrowave food." He looked down at his watch. "Shuttle should be landing shortly. I can hyrdrowave some eggs and bacon for you?"

"yes, thank you. I starving." Africa was appreciative. Her gaze left the hard features of the server without judgement and returned to the harsher realities of the planet below.

It was complicated. No one could possibly understand how the verse could have gotten to such a state. Yet there would be the simples of theories to justify.

"Why do you think they're doing it. The terrorists. Is it another rebellion?" she asked Bruno in as near a tone as she could muster to that of the casual cafe client.

It was morning.

Monty rolled over and got out of bed. Getting dressed he decided to go get some breakfast before he went to find someone else to part with their money.

Heading towards the bar he kept an eye out for the guy from last night. He was sure that he was not to happy that he couldn't figure out how he kept winning his money.

He took one last look around and stepped through the door noticing the lack of people. He saw the girl from last night . She seemed interested in the game. Maybe she might be interested in parting with some of her money.

But not before Breakfast.

“Barkeep If you wouldn't mind A beer for me and whatever the young lady is drinking.”

Monty then went and sat down in a chair facing the door. That way if his friend decided to show up again he would see then coming.

Bruno prepared the processed food in the hydrawave oven and within a few moments it beeped. He placed two plates of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast on the table. Bruno then slid a mug of Arielian ale towards Monty As soon as Africa mentioned terrorists, Bruno abruptly ended the conversation and went to cleaning glasses.

Africa had turned when the man approached. It wasn't hard to hear a lone individual in the vacant station. When he spoke to the bartender she held up her hand to indicate she would not be wanting a second beer. Besides not caring for the first, the second was out of the question. And despite her inexperience, she understood the implications of men buying women drinks in bars.

Another look at the vid screen at the horrors below, her interest in the finer art of cards seemed to have wained. But best to pursue that which is in front, rather than suffer for that which is far away. Or do both. No more talk of terrorists though. Bad form even in a bar.
Maybe that should be especially in a bar. But yet, how could one ignore?

First though, some bacon and eggs.

A blast wave rocked the Baroness as everything began to tremble. Bruno walked out from behind the bar and walked up the circular glass that was surrounding the whole room. "What the..." He looked in shock as he saw explosions ripple through the Alliance Cruiser and begin to break apart in the atmosphere of Verbena. Dozens of smaller explosions seemed to follow from what seemed to be escape pods.

Blaine carried on walking, there was no voice from the Kidd behind him and no footsteps, seems like the Kidd decided that they should part ways, no skin off Blaine's back, he had done more than enough for the Kidd, and gone above and beyond the call of duty with the Kidd. Blaine was a solitary person to be honest. Monte was a good companion, but that's because he was asleep in some containment unit.

Blaine saw that there were lodgings, but he wasn't looking for a place to stay, he was looking for way off this station. Blaine saw a bar area, and headed towards there. Blaine got to the entrance, put his gun chest, and other belongings in a lock box.

Monty looked down at the food in front of him and just as he was about to thank Bruno he realized what the man was looking at as he went to the window.

"What the hell?" He whispered as he made his way to stand next to the bartender there was an Alliance Cruiser coming apart and heading towards the planet."

Maybe it was safer here after all.
