Reavers Love Slave

Name: THEDA BARA ...played by Radha Mitchell![]() Personality: Having been raised by men she is a bit of a Tom Boy at times and a little awkward with her feminine side. Theda is a tough little cookie and fairly handy with a firearm, she'd seen her share of fights traveling the 'Verse with her dad. When not at the wheel, Theda loves to prance about the ship usually getting in everyone's way. She is mild mannered and takes no offense as others poke fun at her, hell, her brothers did it all the time. When it comes to flying she's a diamond in the rough and a great find for any skipper, and at a nominal cost I might add. With a cool head and a pretty face who could say no. UPDATE: This last year and most recent events have begun to sharpen some of Theda's soft edges. She has seen and learned life in the 'Black' can be difficult at times, but she already knew that, it just finally hit home. Appearance: Ms Bara has a slender frame topped with dirty blonde hair, her natural color, kept at various lengths depending on her mood. Her complexion is fair having spent most of her life ship board. She wears worn brown cargo pants with a dark sleeveless top. Covering up at times an aged black leather flight jacket that bares her families transport business logo across the back. Has been known to clean up well when the occasion dictates. ![]() Equipment: Theda owns pretty much the clothes on her back. The only thing's of value is her auto-loading pistol, lever action rifle, ballistic mesh shirt and a knife. She has an old Browncoat duffle bag containing her collection of worthless knick knacks she has picked up from around the Rim. Her prized possession is a coffee stained Fighting Elves mug, sadly it now has a few chips in it. History: Though born on Boros, Theda spent most her life onboard her father's firefly transport. The youngest in the family, she joined her two brothers after her mother died when she was five years old. Theda knows every nook and cranny on these old ships having played many a game of hide and seek with her sibling's. Being small and delicate, her father started to teach her how to fly while her brothers did all the heavy lifting. Theda took to piloting like a duck to water. It wasn't long before she was maneuvering the ship in and out of port alone. Her father was always proud to mention he had the best and youngest pilot in the 'Verse. Theda helped bring a little sunshine out in the black as they traveled between planets rarely landing long enough to unload, pick up a shipment and then be off again. When the war broke out her brothers of course joined up, on opposite sides, this caused a bit of anxiety for their father. With the boys gone, Theda and her dad hired on a crew for sometime before their ship was attacked by an Alliance patrol. Her father was killed in the attack, while she and the crew were taken captive later to be released after it was discovered they were Alliance supporters. After the war, Theda tried for sometime to locate her brothers but came up empty handed. Having no formal pilot training she found it hard to find work on transport ships and so had to settle for operating a shuttle on Ezra for a mining company, carrying company executives here and there. It wasn't until she came across Areion docked at a local Skyplex that she managed to find more fulfilling employment on a Firefly, it was like coming home. That job was short lived though as within less than a year the captain had his ship confiscated for an illegal salvage operation on Athens. Theda managed to steer clear of any jail time and once more found her self out of work and looking for a ship in need of a driver. But at least she had a more formal resume and finding future work might prove easier. Known Siblings: ![]() 'Reggie Bara' ...Browncoat (Deceased) ![]() 'Sean Bara' ...Purple Belly (Deceased) Theda Bara meets Tyson Hazard: ![]() Theda's father died during the war leaving her alone. The war was long; finally at the end of hostilities, with the Alliance's victory secure, Theda began her search for her brothers. It didn't take long to hear about Sean, she received word about his death from the Alliance military while still on Boros. With no ship she found passage on a transport and began looking for her browncoat brother Reggie. She had obtained intel of a POW camp and so headed out. It is there that she met Tyson Hazard just after his release. It wasn't long before she learned Ty knew Reginald and that of his death within the camp. Theda accompanied Ty back to his home word of Beaumonde but there was no welcome for him there. They decided to stick together and help each find some employment since their funds were running low. It has now been four months since the war and they have bounced from job to job with nothing concrete. It seemed everyone was having trouble adjusting to life after the war. Through thick and thin, this unlikely pair have pushed through, saving each others neck more than a handful of times. Now by a string of unfortunate circumstances they were dumped on Santo. Broke and desperate they needed a job; they needed to get off this rock. Ty came up with the Rattle Snake plan, but who could have for seen what the day would bring. Search The Hazard-Bara Chronicles for More ![]() Goliath Days: A new start and a fresh place. From the first days Theda and Ty teamed up, they could have never dreamed what was to lay ahead for them come one future day on Santo in a seedy bar called The Rattlesnake. A simple game of pool and a desire for a job would put into motion a string of events that would ultimately end with a ship of their very own. From the first gun fight to the disposing of a certain body right up to skulking about the registry office trying to acquire the proper papers, it was all great memories for Theda. Even the bitter sweet day when she took leave of Goliath to try and find her younger brother, who had been reported still alive, was a treasured recollection. A Wren Class Freighter, no matter how nice, was no "Iron Giant" and leaving was a tough decision for her to make and live with. Soon after that parting Goliath's steel bulkheads would see her once again as Goliath's Prodigal Daughter returned. This time she planned to stay, well at least until fate showed her hand. Ty and crew in the midst of a job found themselves set square in the middle of a Mob War. The Syndicate cost them everything, the ship, friends and each other. The aftermath found Theda diving for cover thinking Ty was dead. She sought refuge on several Rim Worlds just keeping her head down. It was a miserable way to live and after a time she awoke one morning and decided to get back to her life no matter the consequences. ![]() ![]() Recent History: Theda was awakened by Triumph's bright Heinlein gas giant beaming over the far distant ridge and just under the porch eaves right to an old wooden rocking chair she had spent the night sleeping in. Her packed bag next to her feet contained everything she owned in the 'Verse. It was time to leave this backwater world, no more eating it's dust and spilling it's blood. Theda had lost track of just how long she had been here on the Stoltzfus farm. They had gladly let her hide out here in exchange for protection, mainly because she had a gun and wasn't afraid to use it, but enough was enough. With renewed vigor Theda was ready to reenter the 'Verse and with passage booked on a very old Tramp transport she'd be off this rock in a matter of hours and in a few days walking the steel clad corridors of a real spaceport on Santo. Primary Skills: Pilot: If it flies, either in atmo or out in the black, she can make the boat dance. She also has a head for trouble shooting and charting a course. Not too bad at driving wheeled or hover vehicles as well. Secondary Skills: Not total versed on all the in's and out's of a ship's propulsion, she can work through some basic repairs. Also she knows which is the business end of a pistol and can deliver if the situation warrants with deadly results. Sad to say, she's been doing more shooting than flying as of late. ![]() |
