Reavers Love Slave

![]() Name: Xiang Daiyu Age: 25 Personality: She is as charismatic and charming as one would expect from one of her position. Never one to shy away from conversation, Daiyu makes certain to carry herself with elegance and grace in just about everything she does. She is kind and friendly, though how much of that is the real Daiyu and how much of that is simply her training is often hard to decipher. Although she does her best to be polite and kind, her skills as an orator do not fail her when it comes to disagreements, and she is capable of being quite sarcastic and witty if she so chooses. While she typically prefers to avoid it, Daiyu has been known to use less-than-proper language when having a particularly bad day. It does not seem like there is much which can anger her, but heaven's help you if you do. She can, and does, hold grudges against those whom she has perceived to sleight her. At the academy Daiyu had a reputation among her peers as being competitive and manipulative. Failure was never an option for Daiyu, and she was never afraid to do what was necessary to put herself ahead of the race. When the hustle and bustle of her daily life fades into the backdrop, and Daiyu manages to find precious 'off' time, she 'lets down her hair' as it were. During this time she prefers to be alone, spending it meditating or reading books. She is more often to be 'rude' or 'snarky' during these times, but it is mostly because she values the time she can spend relaxing in peace. Appearance: Daiyu is short and lithe, roughly standing at a height of 4'11" and sporting a build which would be appropriate for a dancer; however, this height is often enhanced several inches depending on the shoes and outfit she happens to be wearing at the time. Such as the case with most of her kind, Daiyu's physical appearance has always been considered quite striking ever since she was a child. Her natural complexion is milky white, contrasted nicely by her black eyes and the long black hair which flows easily down to her waist. She is known to style her hair in different and often elaborate designs of the occasion calls for it, but she typically sticks to something simple and traditional. Her every-day attire is a simple, but elegant, traditional Chinese dress which modestly covers her body. While working, Daiyu typically wears whatever best fits the occasion from her wardrobe, wearing both Eastern and Western style clothing as appropriate for the times. Equipment: Keeping with her typical motif of traveling light, Daiyu does not exactly possess alot of 'equipment'. Her most prized position with be her Pipa, a traditionally instrument that is akin to a lute. Aside from that, Daiyu has a small ornate dagger, an IdentCard, and a Companion Register. History: From the moment she was born, Daiyu was considered a problem. The byproduct of a wealthy businessman's affair with another woman, Daiyu was an illegitimate child, and one that threatened to end her father's marriage and possibly even his business as he feared what reputation would come to him. Her mother, however, purposed an elegant solution to the problem. Daiyu's father would pay her a fat sum of cash to pretend that the child belonged to his deceased brother, and he would get to ship Daiyu off to be a companion where she could never again pose a threat to him. No one would ever know of their illicit affair; assuming he paid. When the father agreed to the deal, Daiyu was introduced as a 'niece' from off-world, the daughter of his brother Xiang Liao, who had died a few months back. While his wife never fully bought the story, she eventually accepted it. For a time, Daiyu grew up living in the house of her 'Uncle', though the man was reluctant to ever spend time with the child. He hired tutors to teach her ad maids to watch over her, and apart from counting the days and sending out the paychecks, he never paid Daiyu much mind. As soon as she was old enough the tutors were fired and the maids were dismissed. Her mind had been molded enough to insure that she would get an adequate head-start, and that was all her 'uncle' would do for her. Eventually their plan worked, and Daiyu was shipped off to a training house to begin her career as a companion. She never learned the identity of her father, or heard anything from her family after that. Her mother had essentially sold her, and her father saw her as a liability. If she failed the training there would be literally no where for her to return to. At around the age of thirteen Daiyu had come to the conclusion that failure could never be an option. She made enemies, but more importantly, she made friends. She made as many friends as she possibly could with both her peers and the teachers. It was critical that Daiyu passed the examinations so that she could become a companion. This was really the only shot that she had at any kind of a life, and she wasn't about to let it slip away from her. She lied when she needed to, cheated when she ought not of, and betrayed classmates when it suited her to do so; but she ultimately succeeded in passing her exams and 'graduating', as it were. From there, Daiyu remained on Sihnon just long enough to build up enough credits for her to strike out on her own. She knew very little of the 'Verse beyond Sihnon, and curiosity had begun to beckon her to set out for adventure. The stories from clients of what lay beyond Sihnon had always fascinated her, and she had heard from other companions of the freedom that living on the move had offered them during their youth. While she loved Sihnon, and had no doubts that she would return, wanderlust eventually won. Packing what little she could to begin her trek, Daiyu took her credits and began her great adventure. Primary Skill: As a companion, Daiyu received instruction in a plethora of skills. Of all of them she took most naturally toward music and singing. She absolutely loves to perform for any who request it from her, and although she can play many instruments, she is rather skilled at playing the Pipa and guzheng, traditional instruments. But as is the case with most companions, Daiyu's main strength is in her oratory abilities. Her ability to pick up on subtle emotional cues that people offer off make her an exceptional liar, as well as capable of detecting when someone else is being less than genuine. These traits, coupled with her extensive schooling, allow her to hold rather captivating conversations. Secondary Skill: Daiyu was always an artist first, and a fighter last. All companions are given some basic Martial Arts training, and Daiyu opted to study the art of Wing Chun. Outside of that, she is proficient with bladed weapons and a capable marksman. She cares little for guns, and essentially only knows to 'point at what you want dead and pull the trigger'. |
