Queen of the Lost Chapters
|
Name: Katrina 'Trina' White Personality: Trina is quiet and reserved, but is friendly enough, though she only really opens up with those she knows. She does her job with professionalism and is always willing to help people who need medical attention. She doesn't like calling attention to herself unless her skills are in need, though she doesn't mind playing her guitar and singing in front of people. On occasion, Trina suffers from bouts of mild depression and self doubt, stemming from the separation from her only family as well as the loss of her clinic. During these bouts, she often locks herself away so others won't ask questions about any noticeable change in her behavior. Overall, she comes across as calm and collected, however under the surface is a soul searching for her place in the 'Verse. Appearance: Standing at a mere 5 foot 4, Trina is thin almost to the point of looking as if she hasn't been eating enough for some time and looks younger than she really is. She has dark, brown hair and intense, ice blue eyes. Her clothing is simple and usually reserved, not at all indicative of a core world upbringing, though she does tend to have a somewhat compulsive need to be clean, mostly in part to her profession, though time has softened this some. Equipment: Trina keeps close her medical bag and her gun, a small caliber hand gun. Aside from times when she is 'off duty', these two items are always either on her person or within arms reach. Other items she carries with her through life are the picture of she and her mother when times were happier, a small and well used personal Cortex link and always her guitar, an old and well used one. History: Trina was born and raised on Osiris. She displayed an early interest in medicine, always reading whatever she could on the subject. This early interest was brought on by her mother's prolonged battle with cancer. It was a desire to understand what was happening to her mother that drove her to study harder than most her age were inclined to and the result was acceptance into an advanced program for young students. While her life was privileged, it was at the age of 13 that Trina first knew the keen sting of death when her mother passed. This was the beginning of an intense desire to help those who could not help themselves, though she did not at the time see it that way. Schooling went quickly, her trials eased by the discovery of a natural talent at playing the guitar. Even at this stage of her life, her thoughts were less on the border worlds and more on those around her personally that suffered, in her opinion, unnecessarily. It wasn't until Trina did an internship in an Alliance medical facility further from the core worlds that she began to understand the verse a little better. Time upon time, she saw those from poorer walks of life unable to secure the medical assistance they needed. It pained her to see those people suffering and she began to turn her mind towards helping those who truly were less fortunate. Her father had originally encouraged the desire to heal others, however when her ideas turned to helping the outer worlds, he argued with her. The argument was a prolonged one, quiet and subtle at first, but eventually broke loose in a yelling match that left Trina without a home to return to and no where to go as the argument came to a head not three hours after her completion of her schooling and rotations. Unable to immediately pursue her dreams, as she didn't have the funding, Trina took up work at an Alliance hospital. She was careful, working any extra shifts she could get, even working at two locations to save as much as she could. When finally she felt she had saved enough to get started, she packed herself up and moved to Santo. While on Santo, she began to realize that if she was going to work in the black or anywhere in the verse outside of the core worlds, she needed to learn to use a gun. Despite the fact that she was a doctor and sworn to 'do no harm', she realized that there wasn't always going to be a 'hero' to step in and save her when she was facing trouble. It was during her time on Santo that war erupted and while there was little to no action anywhere near her small clinic, there were some of the wounded that ran to Santo to hide. Independents all of them. Seeing to the needs, Trina refused to take any information, even names, nor would she take payment from any of them. It took a while, but the Alliance finally started to take notice of her. If it weren't for an Independent ship being sent to pick her up, she likely would have been taken into custody. After hiding out on the ship for a while, she finally stepped out into the verse again, looking for work. She's hired herself out to various different ships as a medic and part time gun hand since leaving Santo. Most have found it an odd combination, her being a doctor and a gunhand, but in most cases it has worked out well. After bouncing from ship to ship, job to job, Trina had the fortune of crossing paths with a one Ian Dugan. She'd met him only once, having patched up a rather nasty and potentially deadly wound for him only to find him gone the next day. He offered her a spot on his ship as a doctor. Accepting turned into not only a stroke of luck in the way of work, and there was a steady, sometimes deadly, stream of work, but in the way of the heart as well. The first mate, Michael Becker, and she hit things off and grew close. So close that, after tragedy struck and Mike was made acting captain, they began sharing a room. Fate seemed to take a surprising turn and Trina found herself pregnant and the crew of the Glory wanted. Scared and afraid of being a liability, she slipped off Glory and went into hiding on Santo, in New Hope, where she'd had her clinic during the war. Primary Skill: Well trained, Trina is first and foremost, a doctor. Her hands are capable, steady and sure and her mind disciplined. While she was never top of her class, she was always near the top and pushing to do better. Even now, she studies to learn anything new in the medical field. Secondary Skill: Far from a crack shot, Trina is handy enough with a gun and can, more or less, hit what she aims for. An odd combination, healer and killer, but the combination has helped her along with work. Beyond these two, she can manage most domestic type skills, but the only thing that comes close in skill to the doctoring and shooting is playing the guitar.
