![]() Name: Elijah Harmon (Eli) Personality A seemingly single minded man, Eli is no nonsense and to the point. His overly casual demeanor is known to put those he meets off guard, though the man is nothing but casual below the surface. Cunning, a quick thinker in tight situations, Eli never has his guard down or his back to the wall. He values the lives of those who are loyal to him above his own, isn't afraid to take educated risks, and follows through with his word no matter the consequences. He isn't sociable, per se, and tends to seek out solitude whenever he can. Those who spend their days with him know and usually respect this side of the man. Getting to know new people all depends on his mood and his ambitions - if it furthers his cause, Eli can be as charismatic as a politician. Other times, when there seems little for him to gain, avoiding eye contact and conversation becomes his forte. Appearance Eli is just over six foot, messy blond hair and green eyes atop his warriors body. He is formidable to most - not the biggest guy in the bar fight, but often the strongest and most headstrong. He dresses casually; cargo pants, old military boots, a dirty brown shirt and some kind of jacket (if the weather - or his armaments - calls for it). Clean shaven and a fresh pressed shirt are foreign to Eli, no matter his locale, though his rough appearance usually fits right in to the places he frequents. Nearly always, unless one was to stumble upon Eli in the flesh, one would find a knife safely strapped to his left boot, a second on his right thigh, and the obvious signs of a handgun on his hip. Unless there's some reason for it to be absent, a cigarette is usually hanging from his lips. He still wears a pair of old, rusted dogtags around his neck, stamped with 'Cpt. E Harmon' right beside the insignia of the Anglo-Sino Alliance. Equipment Always on his person, unless otherwise disarmed, Eli carries a couple of sharp hunting knives, a military grade handgun from his 'hunting' days, a few spare clips of ammunition, a 'lucky' deck of playing cards and at least one pack of cigarettes. Off his person, either on-ship or hidden away somewhere in his backpack, Eli boasts a spare handgun, a fully automatic UZI, a sawn-down, double barreled shotgun, and a handful of crumpled Credit notes that he avoids using whenever he can. History Verbena - it summarises everything. Reading through the man's file tells one all they need to know about Elijah Harmon - a broken, enraged, dangerous man with nothing to lose. Born to a middle class family on Verbena, Eli was given a good life. Good level education, all the way up to college, and he never feared going hungry or becoming ill. School wasn't the boys forte, but bloodying the other young kids who thought they were tough was. He was expelled from primary school a few years in, then struggled his way through three separate secondary schools. It was only the cash his parents brought in that managed to get the man into college - he dropped it after a month (and assault charges). Eli was never necessarily a 'violent soul' - he just had a short temper and felt ignorance needed to be punished. Where he got the idea that the only punishment he had to offer was his fist, no one knows. Eli's sister and brothers were all academic legends - the boys, both older than Eli, graduated as a doctor and a lawyer. His sister, the youngest of the family, ended up going into local politics. Eli, instead, was a street thug who worked part time for the mob, part time at his fathers art gallery - he was soon dropped from the latter due to 'damaging the family name' too often. Despite it all, though, the family was one, and Eli's parents and siblings always loved him. He was just a stray, out of his habitat, and confined to the world his family lived in. When war came there was no debate about it - Eli was the Alliance's newest recruit. He never fought for politics - the savage outer planets he had no beef with. When the quiet nights in his bunk brought thoughts of these people came to his mind, the ones who merely wanted to defend their right to live differently, Eli usually found empathy in their cause. It wasn't the Independents he was fighting, anyway. It was just men. And women. The fight was a fight, it wasn't a war or a politic front. It was just a fight. And Elijah loved it. During the combat Eli achieved many feats of extraordinary skill, though nothing worthy of singing his name down to the history books. The high authority took early notice of the warrior and Harmon found himself elevating the ranks quite quickly, to the dismay of most of his peers. By the last year of the war, to his own surprise, Eli was leading troops in front line operations, first as a field Lieutenant and later as a Captain. The ranks meant little to him - more money for his future, that was all. The way the men looked up to the young soldier, though - that always stuck with him. Of the few things Eli actually learned during his service, the importance of leadership was at the top. After the war, as 'peace' was declared, Eli was able to retire back into life on Verbena. He worked part time running errands for his parents and siblings, married a young girl from his school days, Sarani, and in more recent history fathered two boys - Henry, after Eli's father, aged 2, and Joey, age 5. Living off the money his wife brought in and the amount of Creds that the warrior had brought in from his 'hunting' days in the war, life was comfortable at least. Eli cut the ties he once had to the criminal world, making amends with his family and their business where he could, and the zenith of Elijah's life came and went. Or so it seemed. Then came the IAV Ziggurat. Everything changed. Primary Skill Leadership - Eli isn't a 'people-person'; even back in the war he never was. That being said, he understands people - how they think, why they act, what they desire and what they fear. This shone through during his combat days, bumping the man unwilling up to an Officer position. In his service days, Eli led hundreds of different men through peace and wartime operations. He has a natural knack of keeping men (and women) in line when the pressure hits, a natural beacon of hope that people look to when all else is lost. Secondary Skill Killing - Like so many soldiers who fought in the war, Eli came to day 1 of training with angry blood. He brought with him desires of revenge, anger and a little bit of guilt, all of which turned him into quite the killing machine. He's no 'Tobias Hawke' or 'super-soldier', as some folk have teased him about being, but he definitely knows his skill well and has honed it for the majority of his life. Guns, blades, bare hands - Eli knows how to take a life. |
