This guide isen't going to tell you how to be a L337, rich, bad-a$$, but if you need a guide to tell you how to get the stuff you need, when you need it, and how to get the grounds for becoming rich, then start reading.

Step 1: Earning money

The FIRST thing you do, is make a merchant with AT LEAST level 1 vend. The reason you do this is so that the stuff you get from hunting with your main character, you can sell on your merchant, as well as give the money to him to keep for you.

So how do you earn money? Very simple : Find a type of monster(s) that you can kill easily, and that drops things that sell for at least 40z per, and hunt that. Keep killing these monsters till you make at least 10k a day. Once you do this, take 8k, save it (by keeping it on your merchant), then take the other 2k you have, and buy potions with it.

Step 2: Buying items wisely

Now, over time you're going to need new gear, new items, more potions etc. So you're going to have to dip out of that money fund you've been saving up and buy what you need, but that's O.K., this is what your fund has been for, so that you can buy the items you need.

Now, you're going to be tempted to buy things that normaly would be rational.....on the surface, but first you need to do 3 main things:

1: Use Iro.rosnipah.com to check the prices on items you buy, so you're sure that you're not buying an over priced item (unless its from an npc).

2: Look for the cheapest one you can find, don't just buy one and let that be the end of it, look for a cheaper on, and keep looking till you find the cheapest possible, then buy that one.

3: Don't buy items that in a few levels you won't use, buy not only for the present but for the future, when you buy you want to have saved up for an item that you cannot only use now, but that will serve you well for levels to come.

After you have done this, buy some potions (unless of course, you have enough to level, then don't buy any, and like always, keep saving).

Step 3: Saving your money

While playing, you will have great urges to use your money for things such as, buying a cool new hat, or buying a neat belt that does somthing cool...but useles. Unfortunetly, you have to fight these temptations and save your money for somthing useful.

Now, fairly soon, you will reach about level 40. At this point, you will not only start fighting monsters that have better loot, but you will also need much better gear, especialy so when you become a 2nd class character. Once this happens, save 20k, and go for at least 30k a day, depending on where your hunting, you could concievably make 100k a day, and at high levels....up to 1m, maby even more!! The rule of thumb is, however much you make a day, save aboutg 75% of it on your merchant, and make the rest spending money for potions, warps, conc/awaking pots, fly wings, butter fly wings etc.... But this rule changes a bit for large sums of money. If you make (which is very unusal) 5 million a day, you don't really want to keep 1 mill spending money, I can't make a huge calculator of how much to keep for each and every set ofcommon million and thousand groups of zeny, but I can tell you that you need to use your common sense in times like that, so if you made 5m a day, keep maby, 100k.

Some people are going to try to scamm you, by saying things like, "hey i'll give you 500k for that sword". Some people are totally honest and ARE willing to give you a good, if not favoring deal for some of your items/money, but a lot (if not most) people want to scamm you and get them selves a huge profit. There are only 2 ways (which should always be held together) to defend against being scammed, 1: be savvy about the market, regularly check prices in shops, so you can get a general idea of what things sell for, 2: always check iro.rosnipah.com on the item that your trading/trading for, before you trade, or you could end up on the short end of the stick.

Step 4: Selling items on your merchant

When you find a rare hat, maby some forging items, or even some quest norms while hunting, and you are inclined to sell them on your merchant....stop, walk around prontera and check for the price of your item, check iro.rosnipah.com and then, once you're SURE of the item's price, take the item and sell it at a tad bit higher than it's actual price, or the actual price it's self. If you can't sell it within 3 days, low it a bit, 2 more days, a bit more, 1 more day, aa tinnnnnyyyyy bit more, and if it doesen't sell by then, either A: auction it, B: sell it on ROempire's selling forums, or C:Sell it at it's orginal price and do it alllllll over again. Usualy trying all of the above isen't a bad idea.

While you are vending, many times people will call you up wanting to trade items for things in your store, always check iro.snipah.com and compare prices before trading. But of course, if you know that the item that they want to trade you won't sell for jack, it doesen't matter how much it's worth, don't trade it, because if no one buy's it, it will be just like not having it at all.

Step 5: Growing your assets

There will come a point where hunting and selling the items you find just won't cut it for buying expensive gear, so you have to basicly... "Learn a trade", which means a few things:

1: Make an acolyte, (into-proest) and heal slave people for good money.

2: Hunt for expensive forging items and sell them to smiths

3: Make your merchant into a forging smith, and smith weapons for money.

4: Go around town with your merchant, buying items at very low prices, and then selling them at higher prices, making a profit.

5: Leech people much lower than you for money (make sure you always get at least 30% of that money first, so that if they dicide to scamm you, it all won't have been for nothing).

These are all great ways to make money, there are many more, but these are the ways people favour most. If you want my advice on which to pick, find forging items, give them to your forging smith, smith the items, sell them, and bingo, you have money.

Theres not a lot more I can tell you, So i'll end on this. Remember the 3 golden rules:

1: Save your money

2: Buy wisely, and check prices.

3: Level a lot, and don't waste the money you get.

_________________________________________________________________

* Don't plan to make your merchant a future weapon-smith, just go for battle stats for quicker and easier leveling.
* If you can stand leveling the merchant beyond Vend 1, I would suggest maxing Overchange. This will get you 24% more zeny for your common loot, which makes up a large part of your reliable income. If you can stand leveling it even further then Discount at atleast level 9 lets you save money on consumables like pots and fly wings that you often use while leveling, and of minor note you also save on NPC sold equipment though you shouldn't be buying too much of these items.
* A good character to make along with the merchant inorder to earn money is a mage.
o They easily level with minimal investment in gear, infact they can go with nothing at all, however do much better with a cheap MATK boosting rod and eventualy an Arc Wand once they can use one.
o The monsters they can easily take out are higher level than what can be fought by a character of another job that is the same level as the mage. Infact they often fight monsters that challange other characters already in their second job.
o These higher level monsters have better common loot to begin with, and most have good rares as well.
o Mages kill those monsters quicker than most jobs as well so you get loot quicker.
o They can fight and kill mobs with a little practice to let you get more of that higher value loot in a short time.
Skill choice for such a mage is simple: Fire Bolt 4, Sight 1, Fire Ball 5, Fire Wall 10, then max out Fire Bolt. And stats are pure Int until maxed then work on the Dex if you are still playing the character beyond maxing the Int.
* Exploit making new novices to the point they can use the Kafra storage to get more free stuff from the tutorial.
* Rogues with Gank make good money makers since they have extra chances to get loot and with Gank do so automaticly. They also get Mug to try and steal pure Zeny even after they already stole an item.
* Plans on making a forge character should be long term at best, servers have established smiths with resources beyond you. Most of those probly had help leveling so they could focus purely on forge stats so are very likely to be better at it than you. And until you are established and known a bit via weapons with your name on them for sell few people will give you the items to forge since they don't know how successfull you are at your craft, so you are putting your resources into forge attempts and taking all the losses.
