It seems that everybody's been asking about the pure forger lately. Note that I cannot revive Flambeau's original guide (to respect the reasons behind its deletion in the first place). So let's start with Question #1: Pure Forger Stats So let's begin:
When you create your character, you will see a Hexagon, your character, a blank space to input your character's name, and the following stats: 5 STR 5 AGI 5 VIT 5 INT 5 DEX 5 LUK Pure forgers need only to worry about two stats: DEX and LUK. This is because these are the only stats that directly affect your chance of succeeding in weapon crafting. Because of this, adjust your stats in the Hexagon to this: 5 STR 1 AGI 1 VIT 5 INT 9 DEX 9 LUK Should I adjust the STR and INT? Well, that would depend entirely up to you. Just remember a few things: • STR affects your ATK and your base weight limit. The total STR is best in 10s because the bonus of STR to ATK is (STR + [STR/10]^2). • INT affects your maxSP and your SP regen rate, as well as your mDEF and mATK. The total INT for Blacksmiths is best in 6s because SP regen rate increases every 6 INT. I recommend that you get around 4 STR and 6 INT, because at job 50 with lvl 10 Bless you get +16 STR (4+16 = 20) and +12 INT (6+12 = 18).
Here are your final stats without equipment or skill bonuses: x + 6 STR 1 + 2 AGI 1 + 6 VIT (10-x) + 2 INT 99 + 12 DEX 99 + 2 LUK where X = the amount of STR you set during character creation. When I level up, where will I put my stats? DEX and LUK, simple as that. One suggestion is to put as much DEX as possible, then the rest into LUK, and vice versa. But before you do that, let's check what DEX and LUK are for, aside from forging: • DEX: +1 HIT every 1 DEX, +1 ATK every 5 DEX, 4 DEX = 1 AGI bonus to ASPD • LUK: Crit = 0.3 * LUK, Lucky Dodge = LUK/10, +1 ATK every 5 LUK With that said, here's my suggestion as to how you distribute your BS's stats: 20 DEX 15 LUK 40 DEX 30 LUK 60 DEX 45 LUK 80 DEX 80 LUK 99 DEX 99 LUK High level stats take up more stat points than low level stats, so another method of levelling your character is to evenly distribute your DEX and LUK. Pure Forger Skills
>>MERCHANT<< A> Going Solo This is going to be the most difficult way of levelling, and would probably only work until around lvl 70 (if you're lucky). Before doing this, however, I highly recommend that you: • Get VERY overupgraded equipment (+9 or +10 is ideal) • Get equipment that you can equip even as a Novice (I'll explain later) • Are prepared to spend a LOT of potions Now, with that said, here's a suggested list of Merchant skills: Merchant (job 44)-- 10 Enlarge Weight Limit 3 Discount 10 Pushcart 10 Vending 10 Mammonite Cart Revolution Crazy Uproar NOTE: If you're actually going to USE Crazy Uproar, always bring 2x Clip of Mustle for levelling. Why Novice equipment? Although this isn't a requirement, it's highly suggested that you take Novice-friendly equipment. Remember, you don't have ANY defensive stat except for Lucky Dodge, and that isn't very reliable either... Also, it's very convenient for pure forgers to become merchants at least in their mid-30s or mid-40s (in base level, mind you ) because it would be a lot easier for you to level (you WILL be dying a lot, especially in the early levels... at least as a novice you won't be losing EXP in the process). Don't worry about job level, because when you start fighting Orc Zombies or Poporings solo, job level would follow REAL quickly Until you get Cart Revolution, I highly recommend that you carry a Blast Clip in case you get mobbed. B> Partying --- Leech Very easy but if you don't have any friends either in real life or in Ragnarok that are willing to help you, then it would be pretty expensive, since instead of buying expensive equips, you pay people to give half their EXP to you. Merchant (job 44)-- 10 Enlarge Weight Limit 3 Pushcart 10 Vending 10 Discount 10 Overcharge --- Tank You'll still need overupgraded equipment, but mostly overupgraded weapons, since you will have someone else to take the damage for you. Merchant (job 44)-- 10 Enlarge Weight Limit 10 Discount 3 Pushcart 10 Vending 10 Mammonite
Yes... in fact, even Mages can job change at job 40. The main reason behind taking more than job 40 is to have more skills. Also, it's ideal for Merchants to go at least job 44, because at job 44, you will no longer be required to undergo at one part of the job-change quest, making your BS not only more effective overall, but making the job change test much cheaper and faster to accomplish. Why get level 10 Mammonite as a Pure Forger? Mammonite increases damage... ideal for those who want to solo or get a tank as pure forgers, but not for leechers, which is why I only recommended for Tank and Solo Smiths. Why 10 Vending? Vending is essential to a Forger because this will be the main aspect of his/her BS life: the ability to make weapons and make a profit out of them. Why only 3 Pushcart? Because you will be, for the most part, either forging or vending, there is no need to be mobile... so why get more than 3 Pushcart? (Note that soloist forgers can take a lot more Pushcart because they are the ones who will be moving around the most; no tankers and no partymates to do the moving for them) >>BLACKSMITH<< Look HERE to see how to become a Blacksmith. Now you're a Blacksmith, what are the skills you need? A complete list of skill descriptions may be found HERE, but for the sake of convenience, I'll just quote Flambeau, former member of ROE and one amazing pure forger:
Note that he last posted here pre-Juno patch, when the 2-2 jobs weren't implemented yet (if you're wondering why he got banned, just ask the older members of ROE ). For those who find the information too much, here's a simple recap: Most important skills: Hilt Binding, Weapon Research Secondary skills: all that start with "Smith" Ore refining skills: Iron Tempering, Steel Tempering, Enchanted Stone Craft Optional skills: Oridecon Research, Weapon Repair How much of each? The most important skills, all secondary skills MUST be maxed... all other skills will depend primarily on the prices in your server. Usually, however, it's preferred that after you max all primary and secondary skills, max Steel Tempering first, then Iron Tempering, and leaving the Enchanted Stone Craft at lvl 1, since you won't be using it much anyway. Oridecon Research is a very curious skill because nobody can 100% verify its usefulness. If you feel certain this will help you, then take it, else don't bother. Levelling
Leeching is easy: get a partymate, have them choose the levelling area, and then sit back and relax as your level climbs up by itself. Just remember to pack a few Fly Wings and Butterfly Wings in the event of some aggressive monster passing by. Tank is easy: get a Quadruple Ancient or VVS weapon, have the tanker select the monster to kill for you (make sure it won't switch to attacker, or it would be pointless to be tanked there; ideal examples are Smokie, Eggyra, Poporing and Savage), then hack away. Solo is difficult. According to Flambeau:
Now obviously Hode Map and Geffen Dungeon is now off-limits for many players due to changes in Amatsu, but some of the other areas here are still applicable WHAT IS MY SUCCESS RATE?<-- click here to find out your success rate in forging. Note, however that this is will only work to a relative degree; real-life luck still does a lot in forging - - - - - This section would be those who don't mind getting less DEX and LUK for a slightly more versatile and combat-oriented forger. BattleFORGERs are players who still want to forge and wouldn't mind losing 1% to 5% forging success rate. The sacrifice, of course, is the ability to craft as well as pure forgers, but what the heck, at least you can solo BattleFORGERS... * their skills are similar to, if not exactly like, that of a pure forger... no Hammerfall, no Adrenaline Rush, no Power Thrust, no Weapon Perfection, no Power Maximize. Only forging skills. * their DEX and LUK would be slightly, if not tremendously, lower than that of a pure forger (check http://calc.dashiva.net/ in addition to the above forging calc |
