Oil prices are hovering around $81-82. This past weekend I saw gas stations HIKE the price of gas by a lot, maybe by 10-20 cents!!! With oil prices at the level they are now gas should be around $2.50 a gal. Also, does any gas station sell pure gas instead of this 'ethanol added' garbage? It may seem like it's cheap in one sense but you don't get the good gas mileage that you do with gas that doesn't have that lousy additive. And real gas is much better for your engine. I have not seen a gas station with real gas in many, m,nay months/years. Edited by n73pm, Jun 11 2012, 10:54 PM.

Prices remain high because of the global demand for oil....at least that's what CNN said two days ago. |

You can thank federal regulations (and the corn lobby) for the E10 blend that is sold just about everywhere these days. The regulations don't directly mandate a 10% blend, but in effect that's what has happened. You can read more by following the links below: http://green.autoblog.com/2009/08/13/greenlings-why-is-there-ethanol-in-gasoline/ http://www.generalaviationnews.com/2011/08/31/the-mythical-e10-mandate/ You are right--fuel economy isn't as good running E10 compared to pure gasoline. However, all modern vehicles can run E10 just fine without risk of any engine or fuel system damage. For marine applications, the E10 blend is more of a concern. That's why many of the gas stations selling pure gasoline are close to lakes/marinas. Here's a list of Michigan ethanol-free gas stations that I found: http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=MI |
