Most surrounding cities participating in the K2 ban. Why not Livonia? Sunoco is still selling it on Levan and Plymouth Rd. Had a talk with the worker there and they make lots of money selling it there. Wow, so sad! Livonia should care like Plymouth, Canton and our other neighbors that we like to hold our high standards to.

They didn't want to wake Jack up from his nap.

But in all seriousness, I think this illustrates how behind the proverbial 8 Ball our leadership is. They're too busy on boondoggles down to Ohio to see what's happening in their own backyard.

Wayne county issed an emergency order banning it in the entire county so there is no need for individual city bans. Now they are asking that if you know of locations selling it to contact the police so they can be cited. Thank heavens its one less thing kids need to be screwing around with.

The Livonia SOYTF (now Coalition) has been talking about this threat to our community for more than 1 1/2 years. It's unfortunate that the horrific has to happen before people take notice.

Many are still burying heads in the sand because:
it's not happening here,
it's a Detroit or urban problem,
my kid knows better,

Guess what? it's been knocking on the back door and someone let the stranger in.

Can anyone explain the paragraph about some variations still being legal?

K2 or Spice is a drug sprayed with chemicals that mimic the active ingredient in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC). The products have been growing in popularity among teenagers and young adults, leading to hospitalizations and a host of other problems.

The Free Press reported Sunday that some variations can be legally purchased in Michigan gas stations, tobacco stores, online and at various other outlets - usually for $5-$50.

Those that have NOT been sprayed with the THC. BUT there are other chemicals that do get sprayed on this 'potpourri'.

Current law prohibits some chemicals used to make synthetic marijuana, but experts say manufacturers have changed the formula to skirt the laws.

Just a quick note on what I've learned about variations and such:
I'm not sure if this what the poster was getting at...
Chemists begin with altering the various components of marijuana until they've removed the actual substances which make it illegal.
But they leave other substances which create a high.
In this case of these spices as the poster above me said yes, they are sprayed with a chemical.

The state is looking at how they can get a step or two ahead of the chemists to ban, I suppose future variations.

I haven't looked up the new bath salts craze and where our state stands on that but apparently that is the new craze.

You can learn an awful lot about the messed up drugs in the world from You Tube. :(
