I don't know anything about Friday, but I did see a sign outside of the bus depot that announced that Livonia is looking to hire bus drivers.

I'd imagine transportation is being outsourced. LPS probably needed to wait for a contract or two to expire, then a few more nearby districts to lead as example. No benefits for part time employees

With the cyber schooling concept on the rise, the need for transporting to and from will be just about eliminated.

As was stated years earlier, school transportation is NOT State mandated. However, it is mandated for private schools only IF the local public school system provides for the public school students
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG.

My neighbor is a sub driver this year. He gets paid peanuts for the job. I think the full time drivers are getting fed up with the higher up rich people! Can't say I blame them.............Trinity here we come ;)

While transportation is not mandated for regular ed, most special ed students are provided transportation per their IEP, which legally obligates the district to provide transportation. I have noticed that several Livonia busses run late for special ed and center based services. This is a direct violation to the students IEP when it obstructs the specified in school education hours. This was brought to Dickie's attention when he was here. It is a long standing problem that continues.

Peanuts are worth more than the wages they are paying new drivers...hoops of regulations, special licenses, training, waiting for a wage hike that is unworthy of the heavy responsibility that the drivers contend with, carrying your most precious belongings, your children! Nearly absurd and close to a slap in the face of the folks who pay the taxes in this district!
