Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation and Kohl’s invite the community to celebrate Safety Day, 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the new Kohl’s store in Livonia, featuring Kris Draper, former Red Wings player and special assistant to the general manager, free bike helmets, children’s activities, music, snacks and local public safety officials.

Kids age 14 and under will receive a free bike helmet, and Draper will sign the first 75 bike helmets.

Kohl’s will also present a $553,964 check to Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation to support the Kohl’s Injury Prevention Program (KIPP) at DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Kohl’s KIPP program at DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan offers safety educational materials and products, such as smoke alarms and free or discounted bike helmets, to children and their families. They also visit area schools to teach kids about personal safety to ensure their well-being. Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $4.6 Million to the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation and the DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Kohl’s commitment to Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships.

Safety Day is sponsored by Garden Fresh Salsa, Domino’s Pizza Livonia, 96.3 WDVD, Perry’s Tents and Events, and Joe Cornell.
Kohl’s is at 29580 Seven Mile Road in Livonia.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG.
