Dear Stevenson Families,

I want to share with you that beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, pending Board approval, my role with Livonia Public Schools will be changing. At the June 6, 2011, Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Randy Liepa will be bringing to the Board of Education a recommendation for me to assume the position of Director of Secondary Programs for Livonia Public Schools.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of Stevenson High School for the past eleven years. As a school community, we have worked through our greatest challenges and reached our greatest heights by working together in the best interest of our most valuable possession, the students. I will surely miss the daily interaction with some of the finest students, staff, and parents I have been associated with throughout my career.

I know the superintendent will select an outstanding individual to lead Stevenson High School and continue a longstanding tradition of excellence. I am committed to ensuring that the transition in leadership occurs in as seamless a manner as possible.

The Stevenson High School community will always hold a special place in my heart and I thank you for the experiences we have shared together. Again, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your principal.

Sincerest Regards,

Steven P. Archibald

Shouldn't one wait for the vote to be taken before assuming the outcome?
At least pretend that there will be a REAL vote.

This is sad news for SHS families... Mr. Archibald is a great principal, I'm sure he will do a great job in his next position, but I can't help but think who is he going to replace or is LPS just making up a new position for him? If he is replacing someone, hopefully there will be a cost savings... and the person who is hired to take his place should make less that Archibald, unless they, too, have 11 years H.S. principal experience.

We'll see...

There are several assistant prinicpals who have been in their current positions for more than 10 years. I'd think they would be quite competent for the position. Unless the district decides to step over them - politics, the need to reciprocate or something else may come into play.

I know you know Director of Secondary Ed is not a new position.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG.

Isn't Mr. Hosman the current Director of Secondary Programs?

I think Mr. Archibald is replacing Mr. Hosman.
