I'm not a high roller. I'm a Livonia resident. I don't understand why you people want to bring other people down instead of lifting yourselves. If teachers or others who make even more have their pay reduced it's not going to put more money in your pocket. Mom of 4 if you chose to get a degree in a field that doesn't pay well or work at a job unrelated to your degree that's your fault. For all the certified teachers who can't find work get better grades, write a better resume, improve your interview skills. As far as teachers competing, I don't think it's a profession that works that way. I have a job that's competetive and we don't freely share ideas or innovations. Teachers need to work together for a common goal, not compete. Don't bother replying, I'm done w/ this forum. I was hoping for more than petty whining. Put your efforts into improving your own lots, not bringing down others. If you're truly interested in improving public education, work to change the curriculum. Teachers didn't suddenly lose their skills, we just need to train students for more than just factory jobs now. |

Sorry you are done, Dave. I know it's particularly hard for types like you to buck the system. It's far easier to just buy what they are selling and believe you are doing the best for your kids. Unfortunately, the facts really don't support dominant paradigm. The current system is not sustainable or successful. I am far more worried about kids than teacher salaries and that has everything to do with lifting the weakest up, not 'bringing other people down'. Look at the data. It's the kids who are in trouble, not the teachers. Love that idea about 'working to change the curriculum' though!! Worked really well for the thousands of parents opposing Reform Math around the country and right here in Livonia, didn't it? Thumbs up, Dave Edited by uh-oh, May 7 2011, 02:24 AM.

You lack a basic understanding of Economics, Dave. Everyone -regardless of their employment - is competing for limited resources. That's why we don't have unlimited money to pay teachers. Sorry you're leaving, but don't expect to spew mindless, uninformed drivel and not get called out on it. |
