The fences are going up, and demolition will start soon. Last chance to get a look at your old school. Its amazing how many people around here went to Hull, then moved back and sent there own children there! It's going to be really hard for many to see the building torn down. Like old Tiger Stadium, for me, it was a lot harder seeing the slow and painful death of these buildings. But, I went downtown the other day and walked around the old ballfield. I let my son stand in the batters box, and explained how many great players like Babe Ruth stood in the exact same spot. It was pretty cool! The ball field at Hull will now be relocated to the school site, and I wont be afraid to let my kids go there alone and play ball anymore. I just wouldn't do it with the abandaned and boarded drug den Hull turned into. When the economy gets better and more kids move in, a nice new Hull should be built. The trick now will be to keep vigilent. Because the developers will have their eyes on that property too. It needs to be a school, park, or nothing else. |

That is a very nice thought for the posative....however I am unsure whether a building being razed will stop this spot from continuing to be a drug dropoff/pickup locale....At least with the major street repairs in the area and now the actual demolition it deters such activity....but from other readings parks are just as much a desired spot of commerce as old schools....certainly hope I am wrong but I am not sure if business is continuing? This is supposed to be our childrens bus stop this fall.....
