Is it still true that Dr. Leipa is the only LPS employee that has money taken out of his paycheck for healthcare? |

The cuts and political gamesmanship in Lansing is at a all time high right now. But the cuts are going to have to happen, and the MEA has to realize their members are the last on the chopping block. We have hit bottom, and we may even go below bedrock in this state. Everyone has givin, and EVERYONE will continue to give. If the MEA waits for Detroit Public Schools to go bankrupt and set the precedent, it wont be a question of giving. It will be taken. And as we all know, that can be much more painful. We don't have much control in this election, but we should do what we can. The recent events have made it pretty important to vote YES on both the operating millage and sinking fund. I hope some of you know me, and know I wouldn't say this for any political reason. Now is absolutely not the time to send any messages. Do that in the May school board election. We will need this money. Really, really, really need this money. |

We should wait and approve any money in May when we elect a new BOE..... until then, I do not trust this bunch to do anything for the children. Their record speaks for itself. This BOE will to put the administration before everything else. LPS needs to make its number one priority educating children. |

The schools exist to educate, not employ.

Vote No, and force Randy to make real cuts, and rewrite the sinking fund millage so that he can't buy another soccer field. This group won't change until they have to, so make them. |

I was surprized to get the LN email from you last week Jimid. You have, in the past, stayed pretty neutral publically. I hope people realize that the email is your personal opinion, because there are many of 'old-timers' who couldn't disagree with you more. I will be voting no on both for the precise reasons mentioned by Reformer above. Edited by uh-oh, Nov 3 2009, 01:29 PM.

When I first read Jimid's message, I sent him a PM. everything is OK. In defense of Jimid, he's the administrator and this is his baby, without it NO sounding board, other than your spouse? (and sometimes that's like speaking to a brick wall). AND none of your tax dollars are going to support this line of communication, so breathe easy. Gosh Jimid could be sending us junk mail to clutter the email boxes everyday! phewwwww! You know, you do what you believe is right, well at least you're supposed to. I personally don't see the millage votes as directed at the BOE, they're the middle guys. They don't spend the money, they just approve what's already being spent - save for a few larger ticket items. Back to Jimid, he reminded us about voting for Spence (I think?) and that was good. (I honestly can't remember if Jimid suggested a vote for Spence, I think he did.) Remember the recall efforts and the pre LI. . this forum was hoppin'! And it will be again. |
