I love teaching.
Ok, I am thinking that Moon is patronizing conservatives and Christians. He cannot possibly be for real.

I think he is most likely a genuine conservative and Christian with a mental illness.

Moon's speech patterns are indicative of neurological problems. His almost total lack of prepositions and articles demonstrates a real cognitive deficit.

Glenn Moon candidate interview

So, he should fit right in on City Council.

Put simply, it is either a joke or it is serious. If it is serious, it is a joke. If it is a joke - he needs some serious help.

Let's put it this way....if Glenn Moon is a serious candidate and not just using this to get his weird message out there and you see your neighbor with a pro-Glenn Moon sign in their yard, you might want to consider moving away from said neighbor. You will certainly be able to pin-point the mental illness in the community by who would support this whacko. But in my opinion - the vast majority of council members are mentally ill in different ways. I say - get rid of them all, get some new non-crazy blood in there.

Mr. Moon has some young beauties on his MySpace page as friends, which I found interesting.

What he says in this video--he also said verbatim at the LWV forum--and it is verbatim on his MySpace page. He sounds like a tent preacher to me--yelling, cajoling, pumping ("Let's go Livonia!!!!), rapid speech pattern. It's definitely an attention-getter.

Livonia City Council candidate Glenn Moon makes a God-fearing plea for council seat
by Aaron Foley | MLive.com
Monday August 24, 2009, 10:00 AM

Christian/metal/blues artist and 1976 Livonia Stevenson High School alum Glenn Moon was one of 11 city council candidates recently interviewed by the Livonia Chamber of Commerce to give resident an idea of what they'll do should they become elected to Livonia's council.

Moon's impassioned speech, however, has been making its way far beyond Livonia city limits.

"We the people of Livonia must eliminate from within our murders premeditated murder, fetal homicide, child-killing..." Moon says.

"Heavenly Father, almighty God, in name God's son Jesus Christ, Lord, Savior, Messiah, decree through power of Holy Spirit: No more love your neighbor as you love yourself; we human beings must love our neighbor as we would have God, Jesus Christ love us, remembering always when we cease to exist as living, breathing human beings, upon our human demise -- death -- there is spiritual judgment from God, in name Jesus Christ."

Moon also encourages city residents to pick up their trash -- or "litter" and hopes to make this a priority if elected. "Livonia, pick up your trash!"

Another goal of Moon's: Asking city employees to take a $1 salary for the year. "If city employee fails to submit self to holy will of God...we, city of Livonia, are commanded by God -- in name Jesus Christ -- to terminate employment."

If elected, Moon promises that the council will not serve Satan, stay "obedient" to the "holy will of God." He closes his campaign video with a prayer and a jubilant "let's go, Livonia!"

Livonia, Michigan (Orac's home town!) is having an election for city council. This is not newsworthy. What is amusing, however, is the candidacy of Glenn Moon, who is running on the issues of abortion, littering, and paying city employees a salary of $1 per year plus the love of Jesus Christ. He is remarkably passionate about killing babies, litter, and firing heathen.

I'll be really curious to see how he does in the election. He'll get some votes, guaranteed, but probably won't get elected. Probably. Don't rule him out, though. Who knows, he may be running for vice president of the US on a slate with Glenn Beck in 2012.

Comments

He seems to dislike prepositions. I guess they're forbidden - like shrimp.

That was 2 minutes and 34 seconds too long.

I will never cease to be amased that they don't realise their own hypocrisy. "Abortionists are EBIL... Oh, and love your neighbors!"

And does he have something against grammar? Does God-in-name-Jesus-Christ-lord-saviour-messiah hate the words this man is constantly dropping from sentences? Maybe he should send a tornado.

I liked the parts where he said "Livonia, pick up your trash!" and "Let's go, Livonia!"
Everything else was a sinful waste of time and energy.

I think Moon used to go by the name "Brother Jed" and preach on street corners on college campuses around the Midwest in the '80s. By the looks of the video, he's gotten a bit more intense since then...

Most legendary Poe of all time. Let the record show I called it first.

"We will refuse to serve Evilone, spirit realm, Devil/Satan!"
In this unofficial, you laugh you lose contest, I made it to the above.

I posted some of the 250 comments. I tried to pick both pro and con (mostly con were up), as well as some from a Christian point-of-view.

im not from livonia thats why im cool

Someone told me that this guy was actually running-- I didn't believe him, but then again.....Glen Beck has been allowed to run his mouth on national television for a long long time, and I find that quite scary and ridiculous. Goes to show, these kinds of nut jobs have supporters, and further, enough public endorsement to get themselves noticed. Anything's possible.

i think i can see my reflection in his bald head

Tell us the truth now. You moved south of Joy road because you don't enough money to live north of it.

Finally! Someone who's saying what we're all thinking! You've got my vote, Mr. Moon, and God bless Amurrica.

To tell you the truth - I may not have looked into it deep enough. I just saw that his MySpace had a few albums dedicated to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and assumed he was Mormon. Now that I've actually looked around, I can say that I honestly don't know if he even knows what religion he is. He's got references from the Mormon church, Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, etc. I'm still browsing to see if it says anywhere which church he actually associates himself with

Nope, this is all to real. Faith is a good thing.. but zealotry in any form is just plain bad.

Another religious nut job trying to run for office. Just what this country needs. These people need to be rounded up and placed in a mental institution.

Is it just me, or does he sound like an illiterate Dan Aykroyd?

Separation of church and state you freaking lunatic!

There are way too many types of Christians to be able to clump them all into one category. This man is a Mormon. They believe in very, very different things than most other Christian religions do. Not all are against abortion, and not all are even super religious [ some are more focused on spirituality rather than doctrine ]. I'd go ahead and say that this would not be a very good example of your average Christian.

I believe that this was done in poor taste, IMO. The mailer clearly reads the following;

"Past and Present Mayors endorse a leader."

Enough said, on my part. It's been a few years since Ed McNamara passed away and I can't believe that Jim McCann would put this in his literature.

I didn't look that closely at first, but I agree. Very poor taste...
