Here we go again. Based on the last committee meeting presentation, I really got the impression that the Board was questioning this project. Why the bid??? The notice appeared in today's O & E.

To answer your question... The Board of Education answers to Randy and not to the students, teachers, parents & taxpayers of this district. It is highly questionable about the legalities of LPS running a private venture enterprise using district homeowners taxpayers monies for the benefit of an "insider" entrepreneur.

The BOE has said "NO"

The public has said "NO"

But Randy has said "YES" to the friends & family plan, and will go forward with spending district homeowner tax dollars to ensure "HE gets what "HE" wants for his friends.

Never mind your child's education. It is more important to spend that money on frivolities that benefit the few, while leaving children behind.

I would love to have more details. But on the surface, I can think of zero, zilch, no reason for our district to enter into anything like this. If it isn't a slam dunk, no brainer, money making venture for the children of LPS, it needs to end.

This entire thing smacks of quid pro quo. The question is, who can't give it up and do what is really best for education?? This has nothing to do with the classroom. I do not know who, but someone needs to park their ego.

I believe the BOE has already told Randy to "cap & seed it" and that's as far as it should go. But somebody has an "agenda" that extends way beyond the classroom and deep into homeowners pockets.

They should be using the money they plan on spending on this stupid dome (that 95% of LPS students will NOT be using) for transportation of our students TO SCHOOL! Hmmm, what a concept....doing something 'FOR THE CHILDREN'. How about we add some more busses to the overcrowded routes? 3 high schoolers to a seat, with some sitting on the floor. Yeah, that's safe.......

So what? Who cares?
Because of the recent cuts to transportation, I think a lot of people are going to be really upset if this deal goes through. Remember, they increased the transportation budget 4 years ago by 40%---putting more kids on buses when they could have walked to school. Since they cut transportation 30% this year, will they be selling off some of those buses?

There must be more to this than meets the eye. In this economy, it doesn't make sense to waste taxpayer dollars on a used soccer dome. Hull was bulldozed to save money, yet they are going to spend millions on this? ^o)

my question to anyone in the know - is the Michigan DEQ money still available for remediation, or have we lost that too?

I heard they are selling off the older busses and keeping a few "better" older ones for "just in case."

Good to know the fleet is in such strong order. Those 30 busses at almost $75,000 each ($2.25 mil total) bought for the LI are really coming in handy, I guess.

What is with Liepa and this soccer dome? Why is he so hell bent on putting up this stupid thing? Livonia Public SCHOOLS should not be in the business of 'parks & rec', they are in the business of EDUCATION...SCHOOLS! If this is such a good idea why hasn't the city of Westland been approached to help foot this bill. I'll tell you why! It's a stupid idea! The city of Westland knows it's a crappy business idea. Who in their right minds would wait 35 years to make back all the $$$ spent to erect this stupid thing. Does LPS have so much money that they can go blow over $2,000,000 on a recreation facility? I'm sure, in the next 35 years, they will need that $2,000,000 to maintain the existing school buildings. Put that money in the bank for the rainy day that is sure to come when the SCHOOL BUILDINGS start falling apart instead of giving a sweetheart deal to some guy off the street. This whole thing stinks to high heavens and makes me wonder what kind of funny business is going on with the guy from Breeze Sports and Liepa and (or) the board. I thought the board said 'no' to this deal but here we see that Liepa just does what he wants anyway. Why do we even have a Board of Education? Apparently Liepa thinks he is above them! The board should remind Liepa who is in charge!

We can only hope so, Reformer. I can't help but wonder what the connection is between Randy and Tony. There must be a connection. Maybe they became connected through Randy's son's extra-curricular soccer. Just wondering. What kind of company is run by 2 people out of a house? A house very near to Randy's former residence. Something smells very fishy.

Got to love this one!!! They changed the bid opening date on the Cooper site to October 7th. The next committee meeting is scheduled for October 4th and the next Regular Meeting is scheduled for October 18th. I guess time will tell what they will do to present the bids to the board and the public......

Speaking of which, it looks like his horse racing business did about as well as this Sports Dome is doing. His website is gone.

I find it very curious that not only is Randon Stables website gone from the internet, but most Breeze Management websites are gone also. Coincidence? What are they hiding?

....which begs the question---why is there a bidding and bid opening in the first place? The Board said NO! What part of NO does Randy not understand? And why is the Board letting him get away with it? We desperately need a new superintendent and a new Board. Perhaps it is time for a recall.
