At the very least, King should have voted NO on Scheel since he requested his fellow board members to vote for him for president. Is there some board policy that says a unanimous vote must be made if there is only one nominee? Does anyone know?

It was a 6-1 vote on Scheel. I believe King did vote NO on her presidency.

King, who’s starting his fourth year on the board, said he e-mailed his fellow board members, asking them to elect him president. “Things would have been very different,” he said.

Scheel said she doesn’t understand King’s comment about wanting change in the board’s leadership when he didn’t nominate anyone else for president. “There was no other name put up for a vote; where’s his offer for change?” she said.

What I read this as saying, and correct me if I am wrong - King put his name out there in an email but Scheel is saying no other names put up. Is there some official way that Steve should have put his name up? Did he need to be nominated? If so, why didn't Patrece nominate him?

Thanks for clearing that up Spanky. I read the article again and see that 6-1 vote. My apologies to Mr. King. I am still confused about the Freeman vs. King vote, though.

The interesting part will be the committee assignments. You can bet Lisa wants Ms. Mang off the Finance committee with the new audit beginning.

But he voted yes for Freeman?
He voted yes on Freeman to become secretary. Probably because he didn't want the sec position himself? This is just a guess on my part.

So, do you think he voted for someone that he didn't think could do the job?

A turnip could do the job, so Freeman fits the bill. ;)

I'm not exactly sure what the job entails, to be honest, but it seems pretty straightforward; taking roll and checking off yes or no, depending on how a board member votes. Perhaps Steve voted 'yes' for Freeman because he knew he could do it. Perhaps he voted yes for Freeman because he didn't want the job himself.

Remember, I am only guessing here!

I'm surprised Mr Lessard didn't get nominated...oh wait, you have to stay awake and probably pay attention during meetings...nevermind.

So what? Who cares?
Scheel was appointed prez for political reasons. Imagine all the camera time she'll get before the election. Great move. Maybe she'll be less nasty.

...... Maybe she'll be less nasty.
That would not be possible for her, especially if there is someone at the podium that does not agree with her!

I dunno - she's been at the least civil to Loyd when he approaches the podium :D

If Scheel gets on city council, she could work for LPS, instead of Redford, in the finance department. She'd give up her seat on the BOE because you can't be an LPS employee and a board member, something about a conflict of interest.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG.

Actually, I think Mr. Grizbac (sp) is doing some positioning of his own. Lynda's replacement in waiting?

Audience comment, or Scheel commercial?

Why does Mr. Lessard snicker when this guy comes up and during the comments?

Mr. Grizbac (sp?) has been attending BOE meetings for "four or five years" (quote)...what is he positioning for?

Lessard is rude. Why people keep electing him is beyond my imagination.

I remember him stating on at least one audience communication opportunity specifically that he intends to run for the board in the future.

Although most as the content didn't seem to have a useful point, that has to be one of the most coherent talks I've ever heard him give. It used to be downright painful to listen to him. I don't mean that in a mean way. I just mean whatever he's done to become a better speaker good for him.
