puppy wanted; looking for puppy

 We are looking for a puppy to join our family, however we are not having a whole lot of luck finding one. Does anyone know of a family (not a store) that has young puppies for sale? We were looking for a small dog, we don't care if it is a pure-bred or not. We have allergies in the family so we were thinking about a shih tzu.

Have you tried the Humane Society? There is a large branch in Westland.

 Try a cockapoo. They do not shed and they are wonderful dogs.

 We have two Border Terriers and my husband is very allergic. These dogs do not bother him. They don't shed and are sweet.... but I'd never admit that to my family since dog #2 was brought home as a "surprise" and I was happy with one dog.
Growing up I had a snoodle - poodle and snauzer (sp) and she was great, similar to a cockapoo. Wonderful temperment.
