Tactic or not, LPS laid off a large number due to the fact that there were teachers returning from leave and Reading Recovery needing to be placed who have more seniority.

And, LPS does inform the public about the recalls - check out the boardbook - the names as well as positions/schools are listed for those who take the time to look.
Granted, it is not on a neon sign or billboard, but it is on the LPS website, under Board, under Agendas, under Board Book.

...under "buried deeply" ;)

Why can't LPS be more forthcoming and open. Even the information they do post is often found to be incorrect. A simple link to the final financial data on a web server page is realy not that difficult. There are many school districts & other public entities that currently do this. But no, LPS has to continue the smoke & mirrors routine to make sure the public does not know the whole truth. Especially before a millage election. Why would you show your hidden ACE when playing poker with somebody else's money? Roll the dice Randy & Lisa, or is it "Bet on the ponies"?

Thank you UB,
I don't usually look at Board Book, but I will.

Unless things have been changed, the links to BoardBook go dead every day. You cannot just save the specific BB URL and use it again tomorrow or share it with a friend. You have to go through the whole page-by-page click procedure each time you want to review a BB link as Ugly explained it.

I find it very strange and frustrating. I contacted LPS about it. The first person was great and concerned. But, the administration secretary I was bumped to basically said--it does not matter that the links go dead, it still works and it is just one more click for the public.

She didn't seem to understand how the Internet works. It's strange that a URL goes dead every day and it confuses the LPS website user.

When you land at the dead URL, it does not say go back to the LPS site and square one--and click, click, click again. It only shows a dead page with an error message.

So, unless you know the drill--you could easily assume that LPS' links are bad or that they took down the information--adding to confusion and frustration.

I tried to get it cleared up for the sake of getting our money's worth out of BB, but I ran into defensiveness, which I found strange, considering I was just trying to help LPS and the public. I was very, very polite.

Note: Thanks, Loyd, for pointing out to me the "temp" in the BB's URL, which explained how this works.

Seems the minutes from the meetings of years before have also been removed or for some reason are no longer accessible with the new web address.

You've requested a page that does not exist or is no longer present on this web site.

On May 18, 2009 the Livonia Public Schools web site was redesigned. If you've reached this page by selecting a bookmark that worked previously, it's likely the information has moved to a new location. Please visit our home page: http://www.livoniapublicschools.org

If you feel you've reached this page in error, please report the broken link here.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG.

Maybe they will ask me to FOIA to find out why LPS has broken URL links.

Someone from central is always on the district's FB page answering questions. I wonder why that person does not post here to answer legitimate questions on livonianeighbors.com?
