Anyone know of an honest quick oil change facility. I am tired of spending $150 every 3 months for stuff I don't think needs to be done. I just went someplace new and they were trying to get me to get a rad. flush, trans. flush, pwr steering flush all which have been done in last 6 months & they tried to tell me it was done wrong. I finally agreed to have a new fuel filter (they claimed the old one was on backwards after I told them it only had 10,000 miles on it. They said my oil was like sludge even though it wasn't like that 3 months ago. I even showed them the old receipts to prove that this car is taken care of. Too bad the person in the other bay didn't have his proof. Today I felt like I was being held hostage until I agreed to have some work done, it was $150+ once again. I don't care where I go its always the same stuff. I have routine maintenance care on this car done every 3 months and just dread having to do it. |

Most any of those places will try to rip you off. Just say no to it all except the oil change. When I've gone there they try the same thing. Rad flush and trans flush and sludge build up etc. I tell them I just want an oil change. That's another benefit of the warm weather, I do it myself then... I have yet to find a place that doesn't try that, except for the auto dealership. |

We take both of our vehicles to the oil change place (can't recall the name right now, but will post it when I dig up the receipt) at Northville Car Wash on 5 Mile road just west of I-275. They always ask me if I need new wipers but I tell them no. Then they tell me my air filter is dirty (which it usually is!!) but I tell them my husband will take care of it and they don't press me. Plus, you get a free interior/exterior wash to be used within 30 days with every oil change. |

Ugh. Oil change places and auto/body shops have to be two of the biggest criminal enterprises around. Like everyone said, be firm in that you only want your oil and filter changed. If they start giving me a hard time I'll leave. |

I love the place on Five Mile and Levan (Auto Lab...something like that). They never ask me about extras and it is done within 25 minutes or so. Plus there are always coupons in the Valupak...usually runs about 15.95 or so. |

I have been going to the Valvoline Shops for years. I like the way my records are kept, so I always know how long it's been and what was done. They have offered products and procedures, usually based on the manufacturers suggestions, but it is always my decision whether to purchase or not. I have never felt any undo pressure. I like their precise procedure in doing any kind of work, whether it's doing the actual oil change or checking the tire pressure. The paperwork that is printed out with the suggested procedures is always complete and precise. I am now going on 155,000 miles on this vehicle and have always gone to the store on 5 and Merriman. I have also always used synthetics, which of course is more expensive, but I believe it is worth it. |

We have never had a problem with Valvoline. We've been using them for years. |
