I think you may need to explain what a rep report is lps reformer Not many people understand that it is an actual accounting of each school districts employees. If used correctly it will show how many employees per student each district employs. Some districts have very low number of student to employee ratios, some have very high numbers. What really makes a difference is the number of students vs. the actual $$$$ spent per student. this is where the districts who excel in efficiency really make an impact in the classroom. |

I remember when somebody ased for this at a BOE meeting, that I attended a while back, and was told by Liepa that it was not available. I remember that because Ms. Scheel actually talked to the person and asked what a rep report was. As something as important as that, I'm curious to why Ms. Scheel didn't know what it was. |

There are so many tools available to the trustees to enable them to evaluate the district. Unforunately the most useless tool, word of mouth, seems to be the one they rely on the most. The required reporting to ISD, State, & Federal agencies that determine funding is where they should start. |

Yeah, I get tired of them asking Liepa, Hoseman, Alless, Homich, or Levesque for verbal answers. Where's the beef! Give them real data!. Show them the money! Tell the truth! mmmmkay? |

Didn't take long to go through those reports from the link. Thanks LPS Reformer. It certainly wouldn't take the BOE members long to see the increase in personnel that I saw when reviewing those reports. What's even worse is that the increase was not teachers, it was support and administrative staffing increases. Looks like the beast is getting bigger from within! |

There is no other way to say this other than - do you know how to read the report and do you know how to take out the duplicates? If someone has more than 1 responsibility and can fit into more than 1 category, do you know where there it is and how to deduct it? The 05/06 report is different than the 06/07 report as there were more categories added and most likely there are duplicates in there. Compare PCS between the two years and their numbers increased significantly also. You could be comparing apples to oranges. |

1 person as head count cannot equal more than 1 as a whole number in FTE, no matter how many positions they may cover. |

I really don't think that is the case LPS Reformer. More like subterfuge.

That's right distract from the fact you don't know how to read the report correctly. |

I do not know how to correctly read the report and am in the process of gaining the information, but I can tell you that I am pretty certain that we did not have a gain in one year of 500 FTE's. That would be like hiring 2.5 people per school day and if you monitor the job listings, you know as well as I do that there haven't been that many postings. The LPS annual report gives a number of over 2,000 employees (not FTE's). As well as on the State website it says the reports need to be de-duped. If you look at Plymouth Canton they had an increase from 05/06 to 06/07 of about 500 too. So now you are telling me we have two districts next to each other which between them hired 1000 employees in this economy? I would certainly think that would be newsworthy. So it would appear that what you think you are looking at is in fact not what you got but we will find out soon enough. I simply asked if you guys knew how to read it. It appears you don't either. |
