What is Families Anonymous? Families Anonymous is a group of concerned relatives and friends whose lives have been adversely affected by a loved one’s addiction to alcohol and drugs. Everyone of us have made the same statement at one time or another: “but I’m not the one who needs help.” It was obvious that someone else was the one with problems. Many of us were annoyed or shocked that the other person seemed to refuse help and maybe even resented our efforts to help. Families Anonymous is dedicated to doing something constructive about our approach to someone else’s problem. We learn from our own experiences, but we can also get a great benefit from the shared misery and foolish mistakes we make while trying to do the best we can possibly do. That realization within itself goes a long way in helping us start to feel good about ourselves; and amazingly in many cases, it also sets the stage for recovery for the both of us. Start Your Road to Recovery Families Anonymous are people like you helping people like you. It’s phone calls—anytime. It’s new friends who help your situation just as others have helped theirs. It’s friends who won’t be shocked at your problems. It’s friends who want to help you start feeling good about yourself again.
