Riley Parents,

In preparation for our annual state police safety
inspection, the district is leasing several buses from
Trinity to serve as substitute buses, so that our
Livonia buses can be sent out for needed repairs.
Whenever a Trinity bus and driver are used to
transport our students, they are accompanied by a
Livonia driver who is there to direct the Trinity
driver on the route and to manage the students. If you
have any questions concerning the use of Trinity buses
please call the transportation department at
734-744-2517 during regular business hours.

Interesting wording on that letter. I'm curious about the phrase 'so that our
Livonia buses can be sent out for needed repairs.' What do they mean by 'sent out'? Shouldn't our own LPS mechanics be able to service our busses? Seems like a waste of money if they are truly being 'sent out' to be serviced.

We at Cooper received the same email.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG.

It is interesting. I seem to recall that the reason the board majority voted against purchasing a different make of bus (which was cheaper and possibly more fuel efficient, if I'm not mistaken) was because transportation mechanics were already familiar with how to maintain and repair the current fleet, so it was easier to continue buying the same make. I think this happened after the start of the '06-'07 school year when they found the need for a few add'l busses after ironing out all those transportation problems. Anyone else remember that?

Yep. Steve was the only one who pointed that out. Sigh....

If you are so curious, why not give Steve Dickie a call, rather than pose a question here, where no one can give you an answer?

Perhaps I already did and in true Steve fashion, he hasn't returned my call yet!!!! And how do you know no one can answer my question? Is it because you don't know the answer so you think no one else does :)

Did you see the BOE meeting a few weeks back when a family's attorney had to come before the Board during audience communications regarding the bus issues the family was having? The family had been trying to get resolution since November and no one would help. :(

Does that really suprise you? I'm sure they are paying attention to him now though. It's pretty sad when it takes a lawyer to step in to try to get the problem solved. Actually, pretty pathetic. This district is going down, down, down. Thanks LIEpa, Levesque and BOE, you surely will be remembered in this city.

By the way, when is the next student count?

But some people get a bus to stop right at their house. Depends on who you are, know, and what you have done for certain people.

Well crap I am missing out. My kid still has to walk two blocks in the dark to get her bus. I thought I was on the $upporter plan, but I guess I am not.

Maybe the bus driver is too embarrassed to stop in front of your house?

I've heard your place doesn't have the greatest curb appeal..... or siding ;)

Like most things on here that would be a matter of opinion. I love where I live. Although I am sure your stalker friend would be happy to show you where I live.

Hey Sour- Why do you assume the worst and assume that only Riley families received this? We received it last week, which I thought was a very pro-active way to communicate about an issue that people might have a question about. From other responses here, it seems likely that it was distributed district-wide. You can't always guarantee the parents read what is sent home or sign up for school email mail-outs, let alone read their email.
