I did answer your question. There is no specific plan because there cannot be one until Sears agrees to move or leave. But, I know they are working on it. And if you do not think that "Livonia Rocks", then maybe another city would prefer to have you as their citizen. |

Do you really live here!? There are plenty of other deteriorating properties and neighborhoods outside of Livonia mall in the NE corner. And your boy Kirksey is going to completely ignore them despite his campaign pledges. Livonia is wonderful and I love living here. Though, unlike you, I like to take off the rose colored glasses once in awhile and look at an issue objectively. The plain truth is, if Livonia moves forward with an annexation plan we might as well rename ourselves "Detroit-West" because that's how they do their politics, my man. |

Once again, I never said I was for the annexation. And, you are the one who specifically brought up Livonia Mall. I'm glad you have the ability to see the future and can say the Kirksey is going to annoy areas that need fixing. Not sure why you think I have rose colored glasses on...and, I am not 'your man'. |

livoniarocks - I've said THREE TIMES to look beyond Livonia Mall. I'm starting to think my initial assessment of your intelligence is spot on. Where DO you stand on the issue? Or do you need to wait and see what the official position of city hall will be? |

I realize that you do not post on here often, but people who really want to get their point across try to refrain from personally attacking people. I do not know what the plan is for the old Farmer Jack. Besides Farmer Jack and Livonia Mall, I'm not sure what other areas you are referring to. |

What would you do to combat blight in our Northeast corner? How would you fill empty buildings near Livonia Mall and around the 8 Mile/Grand River area? |

Thanks, admin. Glad you asked. First, if Livonia Mall cannot be resuscitated because of Sears, we should move to plan B. 1) Try to attract a few "big box" stores. Why does it have to be at the Livonia Mall site? Invest a few dollars in the Farmer Jack property. There's enough room there to bring in a Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. A big box store would potentially bring enough traffic that business owners would look to fill the smaller storefronts a la Wonderland-Wal Mart. This dovetails into... 2) Attack the empty storefronts and mini-malls that dot 8 mile, Middlebelt, and various other parts of the area. Offer tax breaks and other incentives to potential business owners that are thinking of opening their business in neighboring cities. 3) Improve the neighborhoods by cracking down on people who are not keeping up their properties. I walk through my neighborhood and see people who are most likely in violation of city code in terms of their lawn and landscaping. It may seem petty, but it's a cheap way to give the neighborhoods a quick facelift. |

Couldn't that area (7 and Middlebelt) use a grocery store? Where do people that live there shop for food? |

It definitely could, cat. We were loyal shoppers of the Farmer Jack's before it closed. We now shop at the Kroeger's at 8 & Farmington and it is constantly jammed. I'm sure a grocery store would find succeess at the former FJ's location. |

Thank you. I'd rather talk about the land dispute. |

Way to dodge the issue, imashillforlivonia. I have no problem discussing Kirksey's scummy statement. AGAIN. Where do you stand on the issue of Livonia annexing the Northville property? FOR or AGAINST? It is not that difficult of a question. |

I rarely shopped there because I thought it was a terrible store. I mostly shopped (and still do) and the Busch's at 6 and Newburgh. |

Actually, Otis, you've never asked me where I stand on the annexation and neither has anyone else, nor have I dodged the issue, check the other thread Otis. And just to really irritate you I'm simply not going to tell you because I think you are a blithering constipated old man. Take some metamucil, sit down watch some Wheel of Fortune and take a big 'ol breath--life really isn't that bad. |

Yup. No one has asked where you stand on the issue. I seriously hope you don't respond. You are ignorant and have nothing to add to ANY conversation except semantics (might need a dictionary for that one). Go wave the flag at Clarenceville and cheer for the city while our area continues to slowly deteriorate. Yeah. I'm a 28 year old "old man." YOU'RE the problem the NE area, and ultimately our city. |

What in God's name does Clarenceville have to do with any of this? You are a waste of space. If you are only 28, God help ya, you have a long long life of anger left. I can already see the crochety old man you will be.          |

Well, at least he doesn't have to move to "Retirement City" Livonia, he already lives here.

You actually live in NE Livonia, and drive all the way to Newburgh and 6 Mile to grocery shop?
Even Kroger on 5 mile betw. Merriman and Middlebelt is closer to the NE than Busch's.Where in the NE do you live?
