http://www.wxyz.com/news/local/story.aspx?...8e-e57a796674a6 RAW VIDEO: Wilson-Mayor at Airport Channel 7 Chief Investigative reporter Steve Wilson surprised Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick at Metro Airport -- and demanded answers about his ongoing fight to keep that whistle-blower settlement secret. A portion of the interview follows: Wilson to Mayor: Why would you now instruct your legal department to try to keep them secret? (Mayor) I’m glad you asked that question. This is a two-part thing. One, we want the public to know everything the public needs to know… And of course the problem here is that the mayor wants to be the one to decide just which things the public really needs to know while keeping some things related to the nearly $9 million settlement “private” from the public that paid the price.. Mayor Kilpatrick: The things that are available at trial we want out to the public. That’s not our issue. Our issue is the separation between public and private… If I started getting your credit card records, your dental records, your doctor’s records and somebody comes and says let me have all of them. |
| I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be WRONG. | |

Sounds like LPS FOAI's to me. It's on a need to know basis. They pick and choose what they need us to know. |

The schools exist to educate, not employ.

Now here is an interesting letter from LPS. I asked Jan Clark for Ms. Chomitz email address. She is after all, the FOIA coordinator for the district. Her response...... You have to FOIA it. What happened to that new era of openess Scheel was so fond of in her campaign?

Well, you can't expect our FOIA coordinator to have to read her own FOIA requests.
