I wish there was a way to put this game on Brighthouse, or even the radio. What would it take to do that? How about a webcast? Why don't our High Schools have radio stations? Did they ever?

Between Stevenson and Franklin there are very different messages going out about advanced ticket sales, attendance, parking, etc...

Do the schools even talk to each other?

Why doesn't the Central Office put out one memo on this since it is a huge event?

Could it be because each school operates on it's own and there is no central communication?

Hell, this is a huge city event, one we would all like to participate in, it should be centrally announced, centrally controlled, and centrally coordinated in all aspects of ticket sales, parking and whatever else is involved.

What I have seen so far is that neither school coordinates with the other, and the central office does not know sh*t

Too bad for our kids, we all want to know what the level playing field is for families, parents, and kids at all of the schools

I have heard the same thing. Each of the schools operates as an autonomous entity under the complete control of the school Administration. It has nothing to do with the Central Office Administration being in control. Too bad for the kids, they are treated very differently at each school. There is no continuity in the District.

Crosstown rivalry stays friendly
By Rebecca Jones
STAFF WRITER

Livonians are once again picking sides.

School board President Lynda Scheel, a Stevenson alum, pointed out twice that she wore double blue and white to Monday's meeting.

Vice President Cynthia Markarian, who has a sophomore at Franklin, showed her colors too, pulling a red Franklin ballcap over her head toward the end of the meeting.

The Stevenson Spartans face the Franklin Patriots Friday night for the Division 1, Region 4 championship football game at Stevenson.

"Go Patriots!" said Police Chief Bob Stevenson, a 1973 Franklin graduate. His sister, Linda, was a cheerleader during Franklin's 1975 state championship year.

He said: "I can't lose. It's either my namesake or my alma mater."

This is the first year in LPS history that all three high schools have been in the playoffs in the same year, said Lori Hyman, athletic director at Stevenson. "Now there are two teams left," she said. "The players and coaches will be tremendously prepared and excited and so is the community."

Instead of laying out any friendly wagers, Hyman said the schools' athletic directors "spent a lot of time wishing each other good luck."

"It's going to be a battle," said Hyman, who thinks Stevenson will be 12-0 after Friday. "It's going to be a very, very close game," she added.

Franklin's 66 players and 12 coaches will be treated to a steak dinner tonight at the home of Marge Gault whose son played defensive end when Franklin went undefeated in the 2005 regular season. This team deserves a hearty meal too, she said.

Marshall Kleven and his son, Adam, are rooting for different sides.

Marshall Kleven, a 1984 Franklin grad, played tight end. Adam Kleven, who ran track last year, is a sophomore at Stevenson.

"It's great to see two Livonia schools in that position," the elder Kleven said, predicting high alumni turnout Friday "These are probably the best conditions for a cross-town rivalry."

Tickets are available at Stevenson and Franklin during lunches from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday.

Stevenson's ticket booth opens at 5 p.m. and Hyman recommends fans arrive an hour and a half before kickoff.

You are in luck Xena! I can't go to the game :( :( , so I will be getting phone updates at every score!!! Stay tuned! I drove by Stevenson about 10 minutes ago, and it is a ZOO!! People are parking on the side streets, because I think the parking lot is closed. I don't know how full the field by Marshall is though.

I talked to Dr. Liepa about getting games like this on TV, and he said people have talked about it, but nothing really ever happened. Just an audio stream play by play over the internet would be cool enough! I think some enterprising young High School students could pull that off. Right Puppy?

I remember my freshman year (2004) when churchill was in the playoffs, (i think we got to the third round), i listened to one of the games on the radio. i don't remember what station it was, but it was definitely broadcast. so maybe the games are on the radio somewhere...

I know Plymouth broadcasts the games on the High School station. I listened in a couple times, and it is really funny. I wonder if we couldn't set up something with Brighthouse to at least get audio on channel 15. I think it would be a blast for a couple of High School announcers to do it.

WHAT an amazing game!!! It was such a pleasure to sit among friends and neighbors and share a fabulous night and the excitement of the game. Congrats to SHS and to FSH for giving us a great year! YOu all have something to be very proud of! Keep up the great work, SHS and we will see you next Saturday!!!

I am not sure, jimid, but MHSAA may have something to say about broadcasting the game? I know they set the gate prices for the playoff games and 50/50 raffles can't be held during the playoffs.

Again, not sure what the rules are.
