It's like the Livonia Civil War :o . It's tough. My kids will be Chargers, but our family are Spartans right now. I wish I could have seen the game. But, we all kicked ass to get the game of the week! I expect we will all do the same for Franklin and Stevenson.

SOOOO.... will I be watching Stevenson around Thanksgiving at Ford Field????????

I feel sorry for the Charger players. Wonder if the media attention created just a bit too much pressure? Stevenson has a great team, and whatever team(s) from Livonia make it to the playoff will have our support, despite the rivalry. We still haven't been able to get past the OSU/UM or Bronc/Chip rivalries though...

It was a lot of pressure for both teams. It's a natural rivalry, both teams undefeated, playoffs on the line...

Let's remember the players are still kids. I'm sure the pressure was immense for both teams.

oh well. 5-1 is still good.

i was kind of upset by the behavior of some stevenson fans though. they were throwing rocks at our marching band just before halftime, and hit one of my friends in the head.

i'm sure it doesn't represent the behavior of the entire stevenson student body, but it was still unfortunate.

One of my sons got hit by a rock last night too while waiting to march. It hit him in the hat so he did not get hurt. I just found out today, the marching band was warned about this during Thursday's practice--so apparently, it is nothing new. I am really surprised that there were no adults or police around to ensure this did not happen. This really bothers my son--he has talked about nothing else all afternoon.

There were many teachers, police and staff standing guard from both schools; obviously they can't prevent all mischief and trouble makers. The schools need to hold each student responsible for their own behavior.

Those high schoolers know better, shame on them. Their friends know who were throwing the rocks. Do you think some high schoolers will do 'the right thing'?

Yes, there were police and teachers at the game; however, none were with the marching band on the sidelines when they were on the Stevenson side. Their presence could have been a deterrent. The only adults on the sidelines were the Stevenson coaches who were busy coaching the last 5 minutes of the 1st half.

I agree that high schoolers should know better although I will be surprised if anyone comes forward and does the right thing. :(

The Churchill students were warned during school Friday that there would be severe consequences for misbehavior during the game. Does anyone know if Stevenson students also had the same warning. There were many Stevenson students taunting CHS students to try to start something. CHS principal was actually chasing some of those kids down. Good for him. I realize that neither side is perfect and that the children that were doing these things do not represent the entire student population. As much of a rivalry as this is high school students should know how to behave. However there are many parents that were not exactly positive role models either.
On a more positive note Walled lake north is in the running for game of the week this Friday and they are playing none other than Churchill. Everyone at Churchill is voting for them so we can be there again and from Walled Lakes record I think we will like the end result of the game.
