In case you haven't heard... The Federal Government is drafting new math and english standards and assessments. This is being done in cooperation with 46 states. Noone knows what to expect; the authors are being purposefully kept anonymous. They expect to publish standards in July for comments. So far, one english major has stepped forward as a math author. Several state citizen groups are banding together to try for clarity and rigor in any proposed standards. A lot on money is being dangled in front of the states. California has signed on with the caveat that they will only be involved if the standards are better than they already have.
